I'm still hoping for English versions of all the Japanese songs too, that'd kick ass.

Yes that would be awesome, I wonder if they did though who would sing them, Vic Mignona possibly?
Hopefully someone with a manlier voice will do Kageyama's songs.

Geez, this is exactly what I did not want to see. green sky, red armor, discolored shoulder guards.
Now I completely lost interest in this release. :?

I doubt a YouTube screen capture can really do any justice to the real thing, especially the colour.

Kei17 hates the Dragon Box colors.

There are a bunch of other FUNI releases with the Japanese audio. What makes this so special for you and not for us?
Because the quality of the DragonBox is far better then any other FUNimation DBZ release. We've wanted the DragonBox for years and now that we are getting it, it's fucking unbelievable! No one thought we'd get the DragonBox here, in America.

Pfft... Hahaha!

Dragon Box without Japanese audio... hehehe.
I'm not suggesting they get rid of the Japanese version - I'm using you guys' logic - do YOU really need these too? There are a bunch of other FUNI releases with the Japanese audio. What makes this so special for you and not for us?
Oh, no. I never thought you were actually suggesting that. I just thought the concept of the Dragon Box, the definitive release of DBZ and something of a "Golden God" that fans of the Japanese version have been trying to import for year now, without Japanese audio was just a funny concept. Because you were trying to be witty about it, it just came off as unintentionally funny and I couldn't help but laugh.

Go ahead. Fight for whatever dub track you want as long as there's room on the discs. I'll just be using the default audio settings. Though, really, it wasn't me that stated that this release was "more special" for Japanese version fans. It was FUNimation at Otakon with how they implied that "Japanese version fan" = "hardcore fan" from their standpoint and, with this release, they're trying to please what they call "hardcore fans." So, as I've told you before, you can keep trying to get your point across here but it's really FUNimation you should be aiming at with your passion for DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN I AM PICCOLO DUN DUN DUN!!!

For nostalgic purposes, I hope that they can fit the Faulconer track on there, but ONLY if it isn't at the expense of visual quality. I intend to sell the orange bricks and probably never buy Z again, so if I could get a release with both the version that I enjoy watching (original and dub w/original music) and the version that reminds me of the good ol' days, then I would be one happy camper.

Exactly, the quality is fantastic, and I want to hear Faulconer's music over it, just like how you want to hear the Japanese audio over it.

Well, because that's not really the BGM of DragonBall Z so why have some fake BGM with the English dub? The Faulconer score is a gimmick, it was just created because they needed to sell the dub, to make it more "OMG IN YOUR FACE". But that's all over. Years have passed since then, and now they are releasing this DragonBox for fans who like the Japanese version. It just dosen't make sence to put the Faulconer music in it if this is for fans of the Japanese version.

Did'ja think that somehow the R1 DBox, which is just a copy of the R2 DBox, was going to somehow be drastically different?

"We didn't change a damn thing," is what the guy said at Otakon.

It's not just a copy of JapDBox. They'll re-encode the footage. And, it's a really damn thing that they should have changed.
Now they accepted the wrong-coloured footage from Toei. I'll be forced to see a bunch of shit coloured DB videos and shots everywhere.
What a damn fault.

Let's be real. The only reason Falcouner was even called in is because Gen wanted to change the music and charge for everytime it's heard. Other than that, that score is useless.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Ah, well, it's a standard quality YouTube encode. Sometimes it messes things up.

Well, that does look closer to the cels I've seen... but Toei's not going to alter the colors of their print. I mean, I doubt the original animators actually thought it would be a good Idea to make whites look pink, and blues look greenish...

Believe me, I don't like the DBox colors that much either, but I do like the clarity, and I need something good to replace the awful seasons 1 and 2...

I actually like both scores of music and I hope that these DVDs will have it. I just want the best release possible and another BGM option won't hurt anything. If they do decide to put the DVDs on 7 disc I think it's possible.

That is right. DBox is just awesome except for the colours and the position of next episode previews.
They did a good job. I do understand this release'll be the very Saviour for people here, but to me, it's not impressive at all.
Rather, it is annoying because I'll see filmed-in-cloudy-water colours more frequently than now.

Kei isn't complaining about FUNi's Dragon Box colors, he just hates the Dragon Box colors as a whole. Hell, take it as a GOOD thing (or a bad thing in Kei's case ) that he didn't like it, cause that means FUNi hasn't altered the colors at all (apart from the video being compressed twice, which isn't FUNi's fault.)

I know, the colors definitely show age.

For example, I took Vegeta's armor into openCanvas, and used the color dropper on his armor.

The lavender is R:239 G:195 B:239. This is the Dragon Box color. Now, I don't know a darned thing about animating via cels, but did they really paint white areas with a lavender paint?

Next is the grey. I simply greyscaled the lavender and that is how it came out. That is likely more how it was intended with the original film.

The white is your standard, vanilla white. Nothing to see here folks!;)
