Stop being so damn defensive. I didn't understand what you meant so I said something in order to get some clarification. Despite my having the exact opposite opinion as you, I've been pretty nice to you throughout this disagreement. So, don't turn around and start jabbing at me just because some other prick keeps kicking sand in your face.

Well I raise you a

I think we all need to calm down. Myself included.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

I wouldn't call it a mess just yet, but it's certainly well on its way.

It's just inconceivable to me the way these things tend to unfold, but I suppose that's the nature of DragonBall in America: Conflicted as fuck. I mean, look at ourselves-- this is the best release of the series ever, and it's getting almost the same sort of arguments that the season sets did. Does that make any sense at all?

I mean, I would've kept most of my comments to myself, but I just couldn't stand everyone basically going, "YEAH!!! IN YOUR FUCKING FACE FUCKWAAAAAAAAD!" and mocking the dub and whatnot.

Personally, I think this is probably the most civilized argument we've had over a new release in a long time. Brick threads got closed all the time. Evolution threads got closed all the time. Kai threads were a little better, but they were in a specific Kai section where we can't just make a new thread if one gets closed. So that really doesn't count.

Yeah, I'd say we're not doing too badly. I still say it's a mess, though. Just not a horrible one.

That's the part where we as humans in similar situations should step back and go and do something else.

I don't like those attitudes, either. Completely unwarranted.

However-- and I'm saying this in the interests of peacemaking, here-- you do have to understand that those of us that are pleased about this do have cause. It's more evidence that this is a release geared toward fans of the Japanese version, which is attention that they've never really received, so it's not surprising that there's a mild amount of celebration.

Or, here's a novel idea, NOT DO IT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Some of you fucks are worse than FPS/Fighting game fantards, with your constant "YEAH TAKE THAT YOU FUCKING FUCKER" bullshit.

Again, I could see this shit coming from such uncultured swine like that guy from yesterday, but from you guys? You people should know better.

S'right. Just because a few people are being mean to you doesn't mean that all of us who are happy see it as an, "I win, you lose," situation. I can be happy about this without having to rub it in the faces of people who aren't happy about this.

You're not making anything better by referring to the people in this thread as "you fucks" and mocking all of us with all-caps typing.

Well, I'll be disappointed if the American broadcast audio is cut. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE, LOOOOOOVE, the original. But I also like the Falconer score. It's not for nostalgia, because I never watched DBZ on TV. But I do listen to it occasionally on the season sets. I know it doesn't fit, but I kind of dig the tone and atmosphere it creates.

I sent an e-mail to FUNimation to let them know that I'll be deeply saddened at the loss of the American broadcast soundtrack.

It probably is more civilized than I'm giving it credit for, but IMO it's not as respectful as it could be. I realize that anything more is asking a lot, however, even for these forums. But I think that my attitudes have been somewhat miscolored by the far worse mess that resulted in that other recent thread getting locked.

So just ignore me. :D

The vast majority of the users here are extremely intelligent, much better than other forums. This still won't stop such a trivial reference sending the whole board erupting into the same debate we have been having for years. It's quite strange.

We're the fandom you love to hate.

Winner for most counter-productive argument against posters being "uncultured swine"!

Like somone already posted, you equate the "uncultured swine" to people that type, "YEAH TAKE THAT YOU FUCKING FUCKER," but then call people "you fucks."

I sent Funi an email about this:
Hello, FUNimation. I am a huge fan of Dragon Ball Z and have been supporting your franchise for nearly 10 years now. I am very pleased that you have announced the release of the Dragon Box, as it is the finest quality Dragon Ball Z has ever been presented in. However, I am saddened at the loss of the dub score. Now, although this won't be affecting my viewing of the first 2 sagas in Dragon Ball Z, I love Bruce Faulconer's score for episodes 68-291. It had a helping hand in creating some of my favorite moments in the series and thus helped me become a fan in the first place. Now, I know that this is aimed at the hardcore fans, but that doesn't mean that some dub fans can't be, either. The fact that I even know the composer's name should prove that. We have also been waiting for this type of release and have wanted to watch the version of the dub WE like in the highest quality possible. So please, just consider my thoughts on this development.

-James Paul
If I get that goddamn automated reply...

Remember that the exclusion of the Faulconer track isn't official yet, just very likely based on sources.

So, uh, how about that American Dragon Box?

You might have heard of it, completely remastered by Pony Canyon, with TWO, count em, TWO tracks of audio. That's right, Japanese AND English. Because our footage is the same as the Japanese Dragon Box, we'll have the best quality as well.

Hopefully this announcement brings joy to the entirety of the Dragon Ball fanbase, and not create more arguments.

Well, this is the Dragon Ball community we're talking about, we're pretty civil and levelheaded, I doubt that news as great as this will tear us apart. ^_^

It won't tear us apart. As I've been saying, this is pretty civil compared to some of the other things that we've had heated discussions about. It seems like a tradition for DaizEX members to argue amongst ourselves when something new comes out. How heated the argument is depends on how controversial the release is. Overall, the US broadcast music track is a pretty low controversy point as most of us will watch it in Japanese.

If you look at something like the earlier DBE threads or Orange Brick threads... WOW! Those threads got closed a lot.

This level of arguing is more like the Kai arguing. It'll cool off on it's own. In this particular case, I think it'll cool down once we know more details about the actual product. Right now we're hungry for information and we're arguing to pass the time.

I don't think any of the regulars here are gonna begrudge each other over this argument by the time it's over.

EDIT: Oh, snap! 3,000 posts!
