It's from the Bardock special (obviously) and if I'm not mistaken it plays later in the movie as well, when Bardock is fighting off Freeza's henchmen in space...
Even if I could just get the name of the song, that would help me out a lot.

The song name is "Solid State Scouter", and is from DragonBall Z Hit Song Collection 4.

It is one of the greatest insert songs....period.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.
