The Ocean dub is one of Funi's two dubs. We want the movie dubs and I feel they would go nice on the definitive movie set.jjgp1112 wrote:The Ocean Dub isn't Funi's dub and conflicts with it. The Faulconer music IS part of Funi's dub and doesn't conflict with it at all. Much of the stuff in Funi's dub is made with his music in mind, which is why the dub sounds awkward with the Japanese music.

Basically it's the only dub fans of the original can sit and watch right?Raki wrote:The Ocean dub is one of Funi's two dubs. We want the movie dubs and I feel they would go nice on the definitive movie set.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

From what most say, yes. I do remember seeing Movie 2 on CN and enjoying it.Chrono Trigger wrote:Basically it's the only dub fans of the original can sit and watch right?Raki wrote:The Ocean dub is one of Funi's two dubs. Before I even knew of the original I thought that the movie dubs were a million times better than the series. I used to watch them all the time when the episodes were in re-runs and after I discovered the manga.Chrono Trigger wrote:Basically it's the only dub fans of the original can sit and watch right?Raki wrote:The Ocean dub is one of Funi's two dubs. Nowadays, though: Yes. As a fan of the Japanese version, I can say that I enjoy the Ocean dub of the first three movies very much.

What's wrong with FUNimations re-dub of the first 2 movies?
The scripts were pretty much exactly the same...

But now Funi had two different dubs for their show. So what did they do? They dubbed over the stuff that the Ocean cast did before they got popular and erased them from existence in relation to Funi's version of the show, pretty much.Kendamu wrote:The show was pretty damn popular long before the UUEs and the new dub they had on them. The Ocean Dub is dead to Funi now that all of Dragon Ball has their own cast on it. FUNi doesn't give a damn about it anymore.

I know their Movie 3 script is pretty much a modified, slightly "better" version of the edited T.V dub, but the first 2's scripts were dead on...

So what would be wrong by Funi erasing the Falcouner score from their dub.jjgp1112 wrote: But now Funi had two different dubs for their show. So what did they do? I agree whole heartedly. So I guess when you look at it like that it would be great if they could include those 3 dubs on set but like you guys said it's unlikely.Kendamu wrote:Before I even knew of the original I thought that the movie dubs were a million times better than the series.
It could either be because of nostalgia like JulieYBM said or because the re-dubs are really just that bad. I can't tell myself but I know I don't like the re-dubs of those movies at all. Even with the original music.Metalwario64 wrote:What's wrong with FUNimations re-dub of the first 2 movies?

Because it's pointless, since it's not bothering anything and all they have to do now is add an alternative to it. The Ocean dub is in the past now anyway as far as Funi is concerned and there's nothing Funi can do to bring it back since it'd be headscratch-worthy, so who cares about it?Raki wrote:So what would be wrong by Funi erasing the Falcouner score from their dub.jjgp1112 wrote: But now Funi had two different dubs for their show. But now Funi has two different music scores for their show. So what did they do? They dropped the music score they did before they created an audio track with the original music and erased their 'hardcore image' from existence in relation to Funi's version of the show, pretty much.
The Faulconer/Menza/Johnson score is dead to Funi now that all of Dragon Ball has--like all their other shows--the original Japanese version's score on it. FUNi doesn't give a damn about it anymore.

Maybe adding another track to the release will decrease the quality of the episodes.
I think that if Funimation could add the Falcouner score without hurting the image quality they would do it to appease everyone.

Is it blasphemous that I don't really like the Ocean cast anymore? I watched their dub of the "No! Gohan can't be dead! I love him!" scene, and I hated it.
Maybe I'm just too used to Kara Edwards' stellar performance of Videl, but the Ocean one was just so... Bleh, to me.
It was like when they had Bra's voice actress do Videl's lines in Super DBZ. It just kept grating on me. (Not to mention the lines they gave her were horrible.)

You're choosing to be blind and completely missing the point.jjgp1112 wrote:Because it's pointless, since it's not bothering anything and all they have to do now is add an alternative to it. The Ocean dub is in the past now anyway as far as Funi is concern, so who cares about it?
Raki's dead on. If it was OK for FUNimation to completely abandon one musical score before (continue on from a certain point [season three], and then go back and erase what came prior [seasons one and two])...
... why isn't it OK to do it again now using the original Japanese score?
The answer is because current dub fans like Faulconer. That's it. That's the reason. What about those who liked Levy in 1998? Too bad for them, I guess. Exact same situation, completely different outcome.
[For the record, seasons 1+2 and movies 1-3 are not the same entity as the "alternate" English dub of the rest of the series.]

Don't worry. We weren't even talking about that part. Just DBZ movies 1-3.Saiyavenger2941 wrote:Is it blasphemous that I don't really like the Ocean cast anymore? I watched their dub of the "No! Gohan can't be dead! I love him!" scene, and I hated it.

It's because the show is already over in both America and Japan now. When Funi changed everything about the dub, they had a whole series that had NO English dub on it. But now the whole series has a full dub with their own music. So why the hell should Funi get rid of something that's part of their dub now?VegettoEX wrote:You're choosing to be blind and completely missing the point.jjgp1112 wrote:Because it's pointless, since it's not bothering anything and all they have to do now is add an alternative to it.
