Honestly, putting the Ocean dub, Funi with Funi music, Funi dub with Japan music, and Japan dub would be a lot for that disc don't you think? Plus, they might even want their audio commentary for the first movie. Plus any extras they may or may not have.
I'm sure that's very possible to do, but I guess it would also mean the first three movies would get individual discs. Rather than maybe two to a disc like the rest probably will be.
The movies is much more possible than the rest of the series though. Those first two seasons were chopped up so much that it would require some tricky alternate angle work. Not saying that anyone wanted that, just putting it out there in case someone may not realize it.
Whether they should be on there on not is a matter of opinion. Sure it's the Dragon Box footage, but it's not like the first three Ocean dubbed movies aren't still available. So it's not exactly like they absolutely HAVE to be on there, according to Funimation anyways. If anything, some box set will have some retrospective special and will have maybe nothing more than comparisons and clips of the Ocean stuff.

I prematurely sold my season sets shortly after hearing about the DBox, not even thinking about which tracks were going to make it onto the DBox. I kind of want to bash my skull with a sledge hammer.
I am definitely not going to repurchase the bricks for the U.S. broadcast, so whatever dub that will be on the DBox is what I'll have to stick to. I'll be watching it subbed too anyway.

Gohan: At least he doesn't have his sword out anymore.
Kuririn: Yeah, and your dad put his finger away too.

You sold all of them?Krakabeast wrote:I prematurely sold my season sets shortly after hearing about the DBox, not even thinking about which tracks were going to make it onto the DBox. I kind of want to bash my skull with a sledge hammer.

The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

The season sets were $30 bucks there, whereas a place like FYE (Fuck Your Earnings) had em for like, $55.

Kendamu, remember this thread?

Turns out we'd be getting them a year and a half later
Mike's post was the funniest:

It was a nice dream until these "remastered" season boxsets came out, but they're well "beyond" that, now.

Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

I'm in the same boat as you, Budogenkai. If the broadcast music isn't in the Dboxes, I'll keep the season sets. Maybe I'll package them up and store them in my closet. I know I'll want to listen to the show with that music again eventually. It'll also be a great excuse to remain in denial that I didn't waste my money getting these DVDs.

Hahaha! I think what made Mike's prediction dead wrong is the existence of Dragonball Kai. I think they mentioned that in the podcast last weekend, too. What do you think?jjgp1112 wrote:Kendamu, remember this thread?

All 9 unfortunately. I kept my GT season sets though, not like that's anything to celebrate. I don't care what English dub they put on there. For all intents and purposes, it is simply an extra-- this release is not for you, anyways.
However, if the inclusion of these extra tracks forces FUNi to downsample the kbps on the JP track to fit everything and make everyone happy, I am going to be PISSED.
This is the American release of the Japanese Dragon Box. That means that getting the same quality of the original release comes FIRST, then all the other BS (English language included) comes second.
I DO NOT want quality to be sacrificed.

What's all this about marketing it to fans of the Japanese? They're not marketing it to fans of exclusively the Japanese version. They're marketing it to hardcore fans. It's possible to be a hardcore fan and enjoy both soundtracks. They're not mutually exclusiveCaptain Awesome wrote:I think the chances of a second English audio track are pretty slim, especially since FUNimation are pitching this towards fans of the Japanese version with it being the default audio.
I think we should be happy we're getting this at all.

Yeah, but at Otakon you could tell that they were very much implying "Japanese version fans" with how the whole thing was worded about "hardcore fans" and "defaults to the Japanese version" and such. We had this discussion about 50 pages ago. Here, we know that a dub fan can easily be a hardcore fan. However, FUNimation was using the term to refer to us Nihongo Nerds.Innagadadavida wrote:What's all this about marketing it to fans of the Japanese? If there is room for it without sacrificng video quality, put the boradcast/Faulconer BGM on there. If there's no possiblity of it hurting anything, who gives a shit?
HOWEVER, if there IS a chance for video damage, or it just won't fit on the damn disc, fuck it. Don't replace it over the original BGM. That's just silly. Why would you do that?

I'm pretty sure they put the emphasis on the Japanese version because all hardcore fans are at least familiar with it. I don't think they're trying to appeal to Japanese fans only. We all know that market isn't big enough to be extremely profitable.Kendamu wrote:Yeah, but at Otakon you could tell that they were very much implying "Japanese version fans" with how the whole thing was worded about "hardcore fans" and "defaults to the Japanese version" and such.
