Yoshio Sawai's "One on One" DBZ Parody

Post by VegettoEX » Wed Dec 29, 2004 10:05 pm

http://www.daizex.com/multimedia/manga/

We've just put up a DBZ parody by Yoshio Sawai (author of Bobobohbo Bohbobo) in our new "Manga Downloads" section (in which we've also moved Neko Majin Z 3 to). It's absolutely hilarious, and you're guaranteed to pass out from laughter.

As Bender says, I can guarantee you anything you want!

So, consider this the "official" discussion thread for the release/parody. Anxious to hear what everyone thinks!

Very interesting and very funny. I was thinking the same thing when he went Super Saiyan.

Oh man... That was fantastic. One of the most lovable parodies I've seen in quite a while. And really... That's about all I can say about it. I also liked the way the original manga scenes being parodied were put in. I doubt some stuff would have made as much sense to me, otherwise... Porunga kicks ass.

One thing, though... At the end Yoshio Sawai states he's grateful for the ''cooperation of Toriyama-sensei''. Is this just polite speech, or did Toriyama really did assist in the making of this parody? I'm guessing the former, but you never know...

That. Was. The. Best. Thing.

EVAR.

That made my day, especially after Jerry Orbach's death being announced this morning. Thank you, all who were involved.

LMAO! That was great! I enjoyed the colored pictures from the Goku vs. Vegeta fight, too.

Porunga was funny and completely random at the end :D
Not knowing much about the two Bobobo characters in Goku 'n Veggie's places confused me though.
I'm impressed by how well he mimicked the actual frames.

Where there any other parodies of interest in the special?

Being as huge of a fan as I am of the original "Dragonball" manga, I couldn't help but love how accurately this parody was put together! I very much enjoyed and hope other artists will do something similar! Now I would really like to read "Bobo" sine I love that sort of random humor.

Thanks to all involved in bringing it to the English-Speaking world!

Though I'm quite unfamiliar with the series, I liked that one! Reminds me of the parodies I made in the past, onlt they were one saga packed in 8 pages. It confused those who were unfamiliar with Dragon Ball.

Hmm, I really didn't think it was funny at all. I can however appreciate how hard he worked on that to make it look like Toriyama's work.

Meh, it was all right. Nothing spectacular. The bit where there was the timeline clash was a bit funny.

Perhaps being more familiar with the characters doing the reenactment would have made this a lot more enjoyable.

It would help. Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is quite possibly my most liked manga released within the decade. It's a comedic dream. The anime couldn't get half the parodies the manga had.

and if you can't tell what this is parodying, you aren't that good of a DBZ fan
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDGe7bAS ... re=related

*There were a few more, but they've gone, it seems. Good Japanese Bobobo clips *or any subs, raws, etc* are so hard to find these days*

But yeah, I enjoyed this DBZ semi-serious parody by Bo-bobo and co. Also did a Death Note chapter, in parody form (with Death Note's creator doing a Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo chapter).

I enjoy when other manga/anime I like make humerous reference to DBZ.

Yeah, love Bobobo. Always been a big fan of Jelly Jiggler.
I wish Cell would have played a bigger role. =\
