Future Dragonball Z releases
With every new release of DBZ so many people sell their old version of the series for new "upgraded" release. Some people sold their VHS's to buy the singles, their singles to buy the season sets, and now their singles/Season sets/Dragonbox singles to buy the upcoming Dragonbox.
I only every bought the Ocean dub singles of Dragonball Z, so I've never owned the whole series. But I already know that when I get all the Dragonboxes on dvd, that's it, it's the end for me. I'm done with Z. But what about you guys? After getting the Dragonboxes on dvd, would you be interested in "The Complete Series" Dragonbox Set? Or Blu-Ray release of the Dragonbox? Or a new re-mastering release? Or who the hell knows what?
So basically: will you upgrade after the Dragonbox given the chance, or is this it you?

Dude we're Dragon Ball fans. It's never gonna be it for us. Seriously though I own season 1-4 of the bricks. Yeah I'm gonna buy the Dragon Boxes and forget about the bricks because (apparently) the Dragon Boxes are the best form of the show to have. I'm done after this though. The next thing I'm buying after I get the Dragon Boxes is the new special if they ever release it.Kid Trunks wrote:So basically: will you upgrade after the Dragonbox given the chance, or is this it you?
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

I never bought many of the DVDs. So, this'll be the first time I ever attempt at collecting DBZ. All the other North American releases weren't what I wanted, they were priced too high for me to collect a significant chunk of the series at the time they were being produced, or they were never completed. So, this will be the first time I get DBZ and, if DVD doesn't become obsolete anytime soon, I won't be collecting it again for quite awhile.
The closest thing to collecting DBZ again anytime soon will be that I'll collect Kai once it gets domestically released on Blu-Ray. Even then, I will keep Z because they're different enough that I can enjoy both as separate things.

I'll pretty much be done with Dragon Ball Z once I get all of the Dragon Boxes.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Well for those who believe that the Dragon Boxes are the improper colors and whatnot, they could just go ahead and release another version. Or they'd release Kai maybe. Wouldn't anyone get those? Bet they would. The only thing that irritates me is that a GT Dragon Box and movies Dragon Box is like imminent, but Dragon Ball has to first be released in the cropped Season Sets and then a couple of years AFTER, it would be released on Dragon Box because I doubt they'd release both at the same time. This is going to blow so hard.
So if I were to sell all the singles in 4:3 from all of the Dragon Ball singles, through Z (everything except the Ultimate Uncut line which they cut off), GT, the movies, all in 4:3...how much money could that get me? That's a crazy thought O_O But I still wouldn't sell any of them because now I will truly have EVERY aspect of DB/Z/GT, every version from the crappiest of the crap to the best of the best.

After the DBoxes for Z and the movies, I'm done with Z. After all that is released, I'll be patiently waiting for a Dragon Ball and DBGT DBoxes and the new special. After all that is done and over with I'll probably be done purchasing DB related DVDs for a while. I will not be buying Kai if it is released in the U.S. unless it receives very nice packaging.
Gohan: At least he doesn't have his sword out anymore.
Kuririn: Yeah, and your dad put his finger away too.

Hm, I'm probably going to sell the Orange Bricks, but I'm going to watch them all (Except for the Cell stuff, because I have all that in single form) before I get the Dragon Boxes, just so I can watch it all in Japanese.
I'm going to keep the singles, and the Dragon Boxes will fill in the gap where the bricks were going to be until Funi dropped the "We have the Dragonboxes" bomb on us.
As for the Movies, I have most of them on single DVD, except for 4, 6, 9 and 11. I'll buy them when I get money to do so. GT and the original Dragonball will be Season sets, because they're in Fullscreen, and if I hear Dub GT's music one more time, I'm going to pull my hair out.

Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Ah that's right. Dragon Ball will be released in 4:3. I thought it was Wide Screen as well. The hell? Why even release the Season Set then? Why not just go ahead to the Dragon Box for it? This makes no freaking sense. So let me see if I understand this.
1) The entire series apart from the first 13 episodes and the first movie were released in entirety in the US. And we're not talking about a small number of episodes per set either.
Saga of Goku - 13 episodes plus FIRST MOVIE
World Tournament Saga - 15 episodes
Red Ribbon Army Saga - 17 episodes
General Blue Saga - 12 episodes
Commander Red Saga - 10 episodes
Fortuneteller Baba Saga - 16 episodes
Tenshinhan Saga - 18 episodes
King Piccolo Saga Pt.1 - 10 episodes
King Piccolo Saga Pt. 2 - 11 episodes
Piccolo Jr. Saga Pt. 1 - 15 episodes
Piccolo Jr. Saga Pt. 2 - 16 episodes
Now yes, the first 13 episodes and movie were not released in North America, I get it. But the entire series practically was! So okay, I know it's hard to get, so logic would bring us to yet another release. However, in this case there isn't just another nearly identical release, there are TWO nearly identical releases.
This original release already had plenty of episodes per disc. This release already had Japanese music with original voice work. So onto the next release.
2) The Season Sets. Alright, so fine, re-release the series with the first 13 episodes, yeah great. But that's all they got. Remastered, sure okay. But whereas DBZ and GT had the "oh my God, dub voices with original music!" thing to fall back on, Dragon Ball already had that. So okay, for the sole purpose of owning the entire series, fine, great, re-released, terrific.
3) Dragon Ball Dragon Box. Okay... Now it seems like this would be EXACTLY the same as the Season Set seeing as the DB Season Sets will be in 4:3. So as soon as they release that, they're going to release this? At least I hope. And what is the difference? A more expensive price, and colors. Hmm...
It seems to me like they're going to screw over at least one of the releases. If someone gets all the DB Season Sets, why the hell would they want to own the DB Dragon Box? For the different color which they can adjust on their TV screen? Or because it's more expensive? And if a fan is awaiting the Dragon Box, why the hell would they get all the Season Sets anyway? Cheaper price sure, but they still wouldn't cave just for that if they're truly waiting for the Dragon Box. This makes NO SENSE! Now GT doesn't quite have this same problem because nobody was really awaiting a GT Dragon Box when the GT Season Sets were coming out, so people got those regardless, but DB is totally screwed with these releases. That's why they should just release the Dragon Ball Dragon Box and call it the "Season Set". They shouldn't bother packaging it like a Season Set or anything like that. I mean I just really don't get it.
Sorry for the long post.
