Kakkarot - what you like and don't like about him...
Non-fans and haters of this character, are welcome to speak their minds and add their opinions.. Haters, think hard - have anything positive to say?
For me...
What I like:
- Works his ass off for all the power he gets; always finding/seeking new ways to get stronger and improve his strength and skills
- I like his determination... never quits - I admire that
- Courageous
- Doesn't whine (rarely anyways)
- I admire how he sticks to his word, and upholds
- He's a Saiyan full-blood
- Reasonably good-looking ^^
- How serious he can get when the situation requires it
- I like how his character developes from the start of DB to the end of Z - even if it's not as conspicuous as that of Vegeta's or Piccolo's
- Find his naivety and gullibity is endearing - I can relate to him somewhat in that respect
- Friendly
- He's not perfect (contrary to what many believe)
What I don't like...
- Acts quite childish/clownish at times even as an adult. It was tolerable and even cute when he was a kid still
- Makes a lot of stupid decisions and poor judgements (pointed out by many here)
- Bit too much of a goody-goody
- Terrible father and husband - fighting/training comes first
- Loses track of time when cought up in his training/fighting routines - never bothered to visit Bulma during all those years after Buu. Though I sorta have that problem,, and I'm sure there are others too
- Hogs most of the glory from the other senshi - especially in GT and most of the movies

I hate that there are people who call him "Kakkarot".
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?

So hilariously true. XDJulieYBM wrote:*snipped image*
As much as I like Goku, the one thing that has always bugged me about him is the fact that he unintentionally (at least I think it's unintentionally seeing as how clueless he can be) mistreats ChiChi, particularly in the Buu arc.
She just witnessed her firstborn son get the life energy sucked out of him and is probably confused and afraid, and despite all of this Goku and gang just take off to go follow Spopovich and Yamu. Really, he couldn't take a minute to let her know what was going on, reassure her everything was going to be alright, and say goodbye seeing as how he may expire the last bit of time he can spend on Earth before he sees her again?
And of course, there's the end of DBZ - really Goku, you couldn't just invite Uub to stay at your home?
I've never really hated or had a bad thing to say about Goku. People call him an asshole when really, he's just dumb. His grandafther only taught him a handful of things such as "be nice to girls!" before he killed him, and everything else he learned through people yelling at him, "YOU DUMMY, THAT'S NOT WHAT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO DO!"
That's alos ignoring the fact he's the main character, and I've never understood how you can enjoy a work of fiction with a lead you despise. Common sense would tell you things are gonna center around this person, so you either learn to tolerate him/her or go watch/read something else. =/

I like everything you dislike about Son, it's apart of his character. He's a hick, who never really wanted kids (he was probably tricked into it anyway). He lives to fight, anything else (even friendship) is just a little something on the side, it's in his blood.SaiyaMel wrote:What I don't like...

Also this. Very much this. His name is Goku, it's almost pathetic that people call him Kakarrot, it's like saying Torunkasu, you're simply trying too hard. It's a Japanese show where the main character is called Son Goku. It's a twist when we find out his birth name is Goku. Since he rejects this name, and constatly demands to be called Son Goku, it's rather irritating that some real people actually call him Kakarrot. It's almost as if you think you're an actual Saiyan or something.Herms wrote:I hate that there are people who call him "Kakkarot".
/Rant, brace for "I can call him whatever I want!"

Good god people you know who the name is in reference to and it is an actual name used in the manga and anime. Why does everyone have to jump on the bandwagon? Also why do you have to resort to name calling just because someone refuses to use “Son Goku”?Rory wrote:...Also this. Very much this. The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.
Firstly, I didn't name call, not even once.Saiyan-Professor wrote:Good god people you know who the name is in reference to and it is an actual name used in the manga and anime. Secondly, it's just annoying to see, like some sort of "non-conformist" way of saying Goku. You rebels you.

You said that using the name Kakarrot was “pathetic” and there are many annoying things that people engage in on this forum, but I do not see anyone jumping down their throats.Rory wrote:Firstly, I didn't name call, not even once.Saiyan-Professor wrote:Good god people you know who the name is in reference to and it is an actual name used in the manga and anime. Vegeta calls him Kakarot so I don't see the problem.
Anyway. I really like Goku's innocence. It does lead to him to make mistakes, he doesn't realise what the consequences of his actions are. For instance, Goku is one to point out someone's disability or w/e, without realising that it hurts. Children can do that, too... ("Mister, why is your face scary?")

Or, Vegerrot, if you're sticking with the pun term, ooooh it's all so confusing!Amigo Ten wrote:And so that "Vegetto" makes sense.
