For Broly himself, some folks dislike him because he's the embodiment of everything that's stereotypical about DragonBall. Big, blonde, muscled brute who does nothing but beat things up. He gives Super Saiyans, and Dragon Ball in general, a bad rep.

But the primary reason would be the fanboys who are permanently attached to his man-meat. Note the above description of what kind of image he gives the franchise. What kind of "fans" do you think will typically end up attracted to that kind of characters? That's right, dumb, over-excited, slobbering 12-year-olds. Not entirely, but you get the picture.

Or it's entirely possible that we're all just jealous, and wish our power was maximum.

Broly mainly annoys me because of the kind of fanbase he attracts. Outside of that, he's one of those generic "God" characters that has ridiculous power and is impossible for anyone to defeat save through pure luck.

Also, as mentioned above, he's not too verbose--the occasional taunt, maybe, but most of what he says consists of some sort of Kakarot angst. Booooooooring.

I don't quite hate him, but I hate his fans.

Broly is about Perfect Cell's level. That's where he was introduced in the story, and he did nothing that Cell couldn't do.

But for some unknown reason, people think he's the strongest EVAR, that he could fight a Super Saiyan 2, 3 or 4 (or even the Fusions) and not only win, but win as easily as he beat the heroes in his movie. It's completely bullshit.

Super 13 beat the stuffing out of three SSJs and a Super Namek, Bojack beat up the post-Cell Games SSJs. Neither of them get the sheer amount of cock-sucking that Broly gets for doing roughly the same thing.


Look at the goddamn video games - Broly gets to go hand-to-hand with motherfucking GOGETA (as in, the guy who obliterated the guy who was tearing the universe apart ) in every intro. In Tenkaichi 3, Super Saiyan 2s can't even budge him with punches or kicks.

I actually like Broly. Movie 8 is my favorite, but not because "OMG BROLLY IS DA MAN BABY BROLLY WUZ OVER 9000!!!" I always thought that movie 8 did a good job of showing the heroes in peril. Unlike movie 13, for example, Goku doesn't just show up and win with a new attack. He gets brutalized first. There's also a bit of good humor towards the beginning. Goku in a suit is awesome. Goku in a suit saying that reading is one of his hobbies is even better.

Seeing Gohan, and to a very very small extent Videl, take him down never gets old. (Movie 10, for those uneducated in Saiyawesome.) I almost don't mind that another one of the Overrated Trio shows up at the end to steal glory from The Brothers Son.

Kaboom and Rocket say it all, really. Broli's overhyped and lacks a personality. He's like the Doomsday Clark first fought in '92, a brainless plot device meant to punch stuff. The scariest thing about him is that he runs around roaring the whole time, that doesn't make him a villain so much as it does a uncontrolled animal.


Nonetheless, I feel like washing my mind out with Movie Eight every time I watch anything related to Dragon Ball Evolution.
