If You Could Use A TFS Joke In A Live-Action DB Movie...
...What would it be?
Okay, for starters, I'm very well-aware that it's a parody series and not the real deal. Every once in a while, though, I see a joke that I think might actually work in a live-action "Dragon Ball" movie.*
For me, I could actually see the Piccolo "dodge" jokes working in the movie. I wouldn't use the death speech that TFS used (see my signature), but I could totally see something like this happening:
PICCOLO: You are much younger and smaller than our opponents...as such, you will have a key advantage over them in being more agile. It is of great importance that you use this agility to evade their attacks.
GOHAN: Well how do I--
PICCOLO: DODGE!
<Piccolo then kicks Gohan>
...And continue that a bit throughout the movie. I loved that joke because not only was it hillarious, but I also thought it was made funnier by the fact that it's something I could actually see Piccolo doing. I mean, he was all about harsh training when he was training Gohan, so I wouldn't mind that bit being added in there as long as it was a comic relief scene.
Thoughts?
*By the way, please don't mention the "E" Word...it brings out an alternate personality within me that enjoys killing people.

"Gohan, l...listen..."
"What is it, Mr. Piccolo?"
"Why...didn't...you...DOOOOOODGE!!!???"
"What is it, Mr. Piccolo?"

This isn't necassarily a joke, but probably Vegeta singing "Your The Best Around" about himself when he cut off Gohan's tail, then having Gohan fall on him.
Can't think of anything else right now, need to re-watch the series.

I think fans in general overreacted to Evolution's badness. Sit back and ask yourself, as objectively as you can, "Was it as soul-crushingly awful as I thought it was?" Hint: The answer's "No".
Anyway, I agree, Piccolo's "DODGE!" gag would work in a serious film effort. Other than that, I could see Kuririn's constant failures being a sort of joke, but I would want it to be a little less blatant than the "Owned" counter. Also, Vegeta's sociopathic commentary may work in a limited fashion ("I'm going to start hitting you now. Not sure when I'll stop."). Also, Kaiô-sama's general abusiveness towards Bubbles and Gregory might work. That's all I can think of at the moment.

You're welcome. I'm not saying it was a good movie. It wasn't. But it's not the most horrible thing ever committed to film like some make it out to be. Answer me this? Was it worse than Legend of Chun-Li? Was it worse than Mortal Kombat: Annihilation? Was it worse than Van Helsing? Was it worse than... okay, let's put it like this: If you had to watch either DBE or 2 Girls, 1 Cup at least once a week for the rest of your life, which would you choose?NeptuneKai wrote:Oh I thought my answer was yes it was awful, thanks for clearing up my own opinion for me.
DBE was "man, what a waste of time" bad, not "OH MY GOD, MY EYES ARE BLEEDING!!!!" bad.

That's the joke I want to hear in DBE.

The sequel begins with Piccolo getting from under the blanket and killing that woman bringing him soup. He then proceeds to spit up Piano, who, afetr a nice, grotesque morphing scene, looks to see the woman's corpse and spilled soup.
Piano: "My, my, was the chowder that bad?"
Piccolo: "Piano... too soon."

I second "DODGE". Verbal cues in general would work well, its the visuals that would be difficult to pull off in live action.
Nappa's patty-cake champion always got a chuckle out of me.
Also, "Are we there yet?" would work.
I'm actually very relieved the whole live action thing is over. I really don't think we'll ever be hearing from Chatku ever again.
*Knocks on wood*.
Ah, if only it were mahogany, I could set up a joke.

You can bet your damn life it was even worse than I had ever though it would be! And I already had some really low expectations. But they managed to surprise me even further...further downhill that is!johnboy1 wrote:Sit back and ask yourself, as objectively as you can, "Was it as soul-crushingly awful as I thought it was?"

If they were to make a second DBE movie (were Goku and Piccolo team up) and given that it takes place into present time, I can see the Yoshi joke being worked in.
