Because that company sucked just as bad as Funi.

Funimation is probably the best dubbing group to bring Dragonball to America. I have yet to see any other company do better then they have when it comes to handling the series(aside from the original of course). Trust me if Ocean Group could do it then Funimation's in house dub wouldn't exist, would it?
Dude, as much as I like the FUNimation dub, I have to say that you are delusional.

FUNimation isn't the only anime dubbing company who releases "Special Edition" DVD releases of animes. In fact, it has become a norm among the industry.

Hell, if any other company like ADV or Bandai had Dragon Ball, then the Dragon Boxes would likely have been released years ago in the US... without the Season Set BS.
ADV stinks. ADV isn't popular enough to be noticed by anime fans. No. I don't want one of the best anime to be handed over to the likes of ADV and Ocean Crap Dub. Even Ocean can't afford Dragon Box masters nor they will. Ocean even wouldn't release standard singles. How sad. How unforunate for Ocean fans and those that live in UK.

In other word? Funimation is one of the best anime industries in the world, beside Toei.

Well you said"any other company without their heads up their asses could have done it much better." Ocean tried...and failed in comparison.

So now what?

Ocean did have their heads up their asses and so did Funi, Funi just had their heads slightly closer to their shit covered sphincter.

(I can't believe I spelled sphincter correctly on the first go.)

That is quite impressive I must say.

So who do you is best fit to bringing the series to America?

SparkyPantsMcGee, you are aware that the Ocean Group is only a dubbing company... aren't you? They aren't a dubbing/distributing company like FUNimation...

ADV, Bandai, hell even VIZ. We probably would have gotten a proper dub with any of these companies.

You mean FUNi failed. Because the Ocean dub of seasons 1 and 2 was run by FUNimation. They had Ocean Studios do the voice acting. So if the dub of seasons 1 and 2 failed that's FUNi's fault. Also, when DBZ started airing on Toonami they only ran seasons 1 and 2 as voiced by Ocean Studios, and it became popular. After several airings of the first two seasons in their entirety, FUNimation finally started dubbing the series in-house, and season three started airing on Toonami. So basically, the English dub has always been produced by FUNimation in America, and the show managed to become popular with the Ocean voices once it aired on Toonami because they finally had a timeblock that didn't suck.

Fully Aware. Thats not the point though if you were to ask me(or many other fans for that matter) Kurby Marrow's voice is FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR from being the voice of Goku, In comparison to Sean, Ian(yes I know Ian was part of Ocean, yes I think he was the best for Goku based on what I've seen from him) or the infamous Masako Nozawa.

Which is why we should be thankful to have Funi release dual-language singles and sets.

...What? What he meant is Ocean Studios only does voices. The first two seasons with the Ocean Studios voices were done by FUNimation. Ocean just did the voices. They were just doing what FUNimation told them to do.

That's the point. The Ocean Group never released the singles, let alone dual-language. To this day, Ocean still borrowed the script from Funimation. They COULDN'T even be creative on their own or a proper script for all that matter. Now Funimation has own the right to Dragon Box masters, they just made Ocean looked like a nun.

The point is? Funimation wins by large margin.

ADV was going strong while Overlord Gen was blowing Toei execs to get the Dragonball franchise. Had ADV had the Dragonball franchise, we would have gotten a respectful dub without all the nonsense. Anime fans know who ADV is, and before the Sojitz affair they were the strongest R1 company. ADV's Anime Network has been the number 1 Video on Demand on and off for years. So don't make blanket/ignorant statements like that. ADV got the Evangelion remasters and they could have gotten the Dragonbox masters had they had Dragonball. If you look at most of ADV's properties, they have excellent dubs and they don't bullshit their fans. For most of Funi's time with Dragonball, they have given us nothing but bullshit.

As much as I like Funi for bring the Dragonboxes over, I have to be real. They got lucky with Dragonball. Funimation is not an "Anime Industry" as you claim. The Ocean dub was made by Funi so you can't call the Ocean dub crap without calling Funimation's decisions on that dub crap. If you are going to make statements, back them up with actual knowledge and not random gimmick garbage.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.
