Question for those of you who have sold your season sets.
Since the announcement of the dragon box sets people have been trying to get rid of their seasons sets including myself but haven't had any luck. For those of you who managed to sell your sets do you have any recommendations of places that may buy anime dvds or any other advice. I could try ebay but I friend of mine tried it once and had a negative experience so I don't want to do it through ebay.

Or, you could save a lot of time and money and just keep the bricks. It's the same exact show aside from aspect ratio.

For some reason GameStop doesn't buy dvd's anymore I'll look into these places you mentioned. If anyone has any other options I'll look into that too.Kendamu wrote:Go to GameStop, FYE, Disc Replay, or anyplace else that buys used DVDs and sell 'em there. That's what I do with domestic releases. The only time I sell my DVDs here is if they're rare or foreign releases.

Oh shut up. That shit only matters to OCD videophiles. It's the same goddamn show, either way.laserkid wrote:And the quality of picture. Maybe he wants a better presentation of the series. Even to non-OCD videophiles notice the quality difference, too. I know this firsthand.Saiyavenger2941 wrote:Oh shut up. Well, apparently theres a lot of OCD videophiles on this board because a lot of us want the Dragon Box.
You can like your season sets, no one is going to care, but when someone is asking about selling them, telling them to take what they have and like it is pretty rude. It's also pretty rude to classify everyone who wants the Dbox quality masters OCD videophiles and to tell me to shut up. You really need to stop being so overly defensive of the orange bricks. If you like them fine. But you don't need to go on a crusade against those who don't.

WTF, man? You're another one of those people constantly whining about how no-one takes your responses seriously, you're always being taken out of context, blah blah blah. Here comes laserkid with an absolutely completely normal response to you, and this is what you send back in response? Expletive-filled nonsense? Telling him to shut up?Saiyavenger2941 wrote:Oh shut up. That shit only matters to OCD videophiles. It's the same goddamn show, either way.
Why do you think I keep giving you warnings? Why do you think you keep having arguments with people?
Why won't you just LISTEN for once? This is absolutely unacceptable, and will not continue further.

Think again. I'm by no means a "videophile," and even I understand how crappy-looking the Season Sets are in comparison to DragonBox. I put up with the Season Sets thinking they were the best I'd be able to do for a long time, but you can bet I'll sell them and get the Dragon Boxes for the correct aspect ratio, non-bleached, non-blurred, and generally un-screwed-up video footage.Saiyavenger2941 wrote:Oh shut up. Dragon Ball ended in 1997.
I'm not a videophle. It bothered me, so I'm getting rid of them and buying the Dragonbox release.Saiyavenger2941 wrote:Oh shut up. That shit only matters to OCD videophiles. The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

OK, you took this too far. I find subtle trolls amusing, but this is just flat out ban-worth material.Saiyavenger2941 wrote:Oh shut up. That shit only matters to OCD videophiles. I really don't think Mike wants people constantly bringing this back up or replying and saying what has essentially already been said.
I think for the time being I'm going to keep the two sets I have, but once I get the DBoxes, I may very well try to sell them. Not sure, really.piccolo-san785 wrote:Since the announcement of the dragon box sets people have been trying to get rid of their seasons sets including myself but haven't had any luck. Considering how it's FUNimation we're dealing with, I'll be selling my older releases ina ccordance with the DBox episodes they'll be replaced by. I was considering FYE, but they don't exactly pay all that well for used DVDs (the store clerk told me around $6-7) so I think I may go to amazon. Then again, who knows how long it'll be listed there? Anyone who sold at FYE before (or similar stores, I guess) have any thoughts on this?
10-30 minutes have most likely passed between my clicking to comment and actually posting. Curse my habit of thinking how to word my posts for too long!

Well, even if you're not a videophile, you've probably noticed the jitter. Some scenes are shaky. In the remastering process, that shakiness was reduced dramatically with the Dragon Boxes. That's enough by itself for me to want them.Saiyavenger2941 wrote:Oh shut up. That shit only matters to OCD videophiles. It's the same goddamn show, either way.

Tell me about it, I had to train myself not to tune into that.Innagadadavida wrote:Well, even if you're not a videophile, you've probably noticed the jitter. Some scenes are shaky. I sold mine on craigslist for $150. Someone in LA bought them and paypaled me money. I have started seeing that craiglist will show you other states when you search if not a lot of people have the items you are looking for in your area. But I would try your craiglist and then some of the bigger cites around you also. Do not go to one of these second hand stores. You will not sell it for a lot, they buy them cheep so they can resell them and make money. Stick with craigslist or ebay, ioffer has to many bootlegs I would stay off there.Kendamu wrote:Go to GameStop, FYE, Disc Replay, or anyplace else that buys used DVDs and sell 'em there. Also ask around to everyone you know. Post something on facebook, then ask your friends to do the same. So it passes on past just the people you know. My friend sold a lot of her manga this way.

Well, I'm a videophile, as you put it, but that doesn't mean I'm going to sell Season sets. I'm keeping them because I like them. I'm merely a collector. So I keep what I bought. However, telling your fellow family to shut up is just a bit too extreme. I seriously thought you were a cool dude at first, but I dunno how I view you right now.Saiyavenger2941 wrote:Oh shut up. Back on topic. Piccolo-San, I think you might need to sell them on Amazon or make a deal with our Daizex members. Or maybe sell them to FYE and earn about $20+ (about a few dollars per set, right guys?) and pre-order Dragon Box. That'd save you about a decent amount of money.
