This has got to be some of the worst censoring ever.

Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

I don't think I've ever seen a character completely edited out of a scene before. o_O

I'd thought they'd have painted over her, but it looks like they cut out every frame she was in in that first link.
On hiatus.

That definitely is pretty strange...but not really if you put it into political context.

I was thinking of that the whole time I was reading this too <_< Poor Ranchi. Course she ended up getting cut out of the original version too, poor girl.

Though with Bulma, this makes me wonder what they're going to do with all of her other scenes where she's dressed in much the same way o_O That would be a lot of cutting out man.

I think censoring on Korean dub are worse.

They deleted Yajirobe's sandals for the sake of elimination of Japanese materials.

That makes perfect sense.

At that time, in South Korea, all Japanese-related things were completely cleared out but they still sold Japanese mangas and animes in the name of "made in Korea". But at least, it seems that Dragon Ball series was introduced as a Japanese production because the word "Toei Animation" is on the covers of VHS relaeses. And, well, they did not censor Yajirobe's clothes and sword because they could be assumed to be Korean clothes and Korean sword, I guess...

... So did they actually buy the rights to air the stuff, or in the name of hating their ancestral enemies did they just steal it all and pretend they made it o_O

They officially bought the series I think. As I said in the last post, they spelled "Toei Animation" on the covers. If it were a bootleg release, an imaginary author would be made up... ..Yes, they did it on many other animes and mangas like Captain Tsubasa..

"A HOUSE". Yes, sure it is...

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

I remember some comparison shots for Azumanga Daioh in Korean, it was much better quality, they edited Chiyo's Kimono into a Hanbok, and changed some buildings too, I think.

Ahaha, oh man, "A House". That's something I'd only expect to see in the Saban dub.

This is just freaking insane. It's like Japan was bombing them during the airing of these series or something- I mean I understand the ancestral grudge and a shitload of anger from the war but this is such a trivial way to get back at people, it's like "Freedom Fries" but a lot more expensive and jarring. I can barely believe this.

Edit- Which Korea is this?

Freedom fries was a euphemism for French fries used by some conservatives in the United States as a result of anti-French sentiment in the United States during the international debate over the decision to launch the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
