English Dragon Box Release
Well it's the truth.
I LOOOOOVED Sesame Street as a baby. But while I can still appreciate it, I get nothing out of it now. For the most part I've moved on to better shows more appropriate for someone my age.
But that's probably a bad example, because Sesame Street is actually good, well-made, and serves a useful purpose.

Okay, I think, as fans of Dragonball, we should accept every aspect of it. Who cares if someone hates a particular track of it? The fact of the matter is that track is a part of Dragonball history. To some of us, more than others. Those who saw the JPN version first know DBZ with that track, but one who grew up with it on Cartoon Network may prefer the Faulconer track. I'm sick of all this debating over which track should be used. Preference over a certain track is no excuse to put a person down, simply because they have different tastes than you. Ideally, they should include both English tracks, to appease all fans of the FUNi dub. But since that's not too likely to happen, I think we all just need to chill out and accept whatever happens.
I am neither subbie nor dubbie, I am all that is good: I am a FANBOY!

Okay, you have claimed you were the peacemaker of the situation a few posts back, but the questions you ask and what you post makes it seem like you're trying to open this can of worms againjjgp1112 wrote:I'm talking about this particular comment:SSj Kaboom wrote:Nobody's (at least, I'm not) telling you to change your preference, and there's nothing wrong with you having it. I'm just saying your preference doesn't take precedence over the objective quality of the show's presentation. It just so happens that what's best for the show (i.e. ditching the dub music) is contrary to your preference.jjgp1112 wrote:Two people in here told me to change my preference. I'm trying to tell them that they have no right to tell me to do that.
I mean, seriously?it's high time it gets phased out altogether and the dub fanbase is weaned off of it and starts learning to appreciate the show's REAL score.
If you are tired of hearing the responses you are getting, why don't you just stop trying to call out those people whose opinions you disagree with.
I'm probably making the situation worse here. I'm done for a while.
The way I see it, no one is specifically putting jjgp1112 down because he likes the Faulconer dub score. What people here are arguing in favor of is Dragon Ball Z being treated the way every single other anime property released in North America is. Sure there are people out there who like the Faulconer score or even prefer it over the original one. That's an opinion they're entitled to, but all the same, Dragon Ball Z itself is entitled to a release that doesn't change its original presentation, which includes the BGM track.
The Faulconer score represents a time long past when FUNimation felt it needed to take such drastic measures to make DBZ popular. I'm of the opinion that Z would've been popular anyway, even if it had an unadulterated dub with a completely accurate translation and nothing fucked with, such as blood or yes, even the music. The simple truth is that FUNi doesn't need to go to those lengths to sell DBZ anymore. If the Dragon Box comes out here with the Faulconer track on it, it'll be a metaphor for a motivational poster for "Irony," seeing how FUNi rescued One Piece from a similar fate.

Doesn't matter to me. I own the Z singles and have watched the show with no subtitles.jjgp1112 wrote:Subtitles also weren't on the Japanese Dragon Boxes. So should they not include those either?Presc503 wrote:Yep, that's why the packaging deviates so much from the original. Give me a freaking break! Their advertising for this entire release thus far has been a replication of the JPN release. Give it a rest.jjgp1112 wrote:As godofchaos said, this isn't the Dragon Box. This is another company's version of it.
And I think he was referring to encode matters at that point, not at the inclusion of another BGM.
To be fair, the existing dub fanbase doesn't matter to me. I want people who have never seen or heard DBZ to watch it with the original score so they won't get the wrong impression. Like it or not, the Falcouner score is slammed by outsiders who know nothing but the dub.jjgp1112 wrote:I mean, seriously?it's high time it gets phased out altogether and the dub fanbase is weaned off of it and starts learning to appreciate the show's REAL score.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.
You guys make it sound like the dub music is the only problem with the dub. Using the original score will make it the way it was meant to be seen? What about the completely butchered script? The unfitting voices? The horrible acting? Honestly, without completely redubbing the show, the dub track will never be faithful. The changed music is probably the least offending change in the dub, so I don't see why everyone thinks getting rid of it will suddenly make the dub perfect. To do what you guys are asking and have these sets be the "pure Dragon Ball experience", FUNimation would have to either faithfully redub the entire series or not include any dub track on these sets, and I don't think I need to explain why neither of these are feasible. Even if people are watching the dub with Japanese BGM, they won't be watching "the actual Dragon Ball", so just let dub fans have their dub with English music so long as it doesn't compromise the video and Japanese audio quality.

Why is everyone so concerned about people being turned off by the dub(if it is the Broadcast track) in these releases?
The dub isn't even the default option, and I'm sure any newcomer would see that it is altered because they will hear the Japanese version first on these sets...

And people once brought up "US score with JP voices". What?!

Real Comment on my video from a DBZ fan:Raki wrote:If we(the sub fans) were to outright say "Just flip to the Japanese with subs", you know the shit storm that would follow.
"Ok but the voices are so damn annoying i hate jap voices"
So, at least the dub fans listening to the right music would be a step better, at least.
These are probably the same group of people who have no issue with watching Naruto, Bleach, or [insert flavor of the month Japanese show] in Japanese. But somehow there is this big issue with DBZ's Japanese voices when many of the same VAs are in those shows.ShinRogafuken wrote:Real Comment on my video from a DBZ fan:Raki wrote:If we(the sub fans) were to outright say "Just flip to the Japanese with subs", you know the shit storm that would follow.

OH MY GOD, RAKI! Do you know what's so funny about what you said? "Yep, One Piece, Bleach, Naruto Shippuden, Code Geass, all of them sound great in Japanese, only DBZ sounds bad in Japanese"
Coincidential, isn't it?

Removing the dub score will get the dub just a sliver closer to the way it was meant to be seen. It's a pretty safe assumption they're never going to fix the other problems you mentioned, sadly, so if we can at least axe Faulconer, we can put to rest the lame "the Japanese music is so boooring!" excuse.Taku128 wrote:You guys make it sound like the dub music is the only problem with the dub. You can't argue which score is better if there's only one score. Y'know, the way it should have been left as.
