What are those avatars about? They aren't the only characters you can be as there is a create a character system or are they only for the website? I'm so confused.

Holy crap! I thought this game was already launched a couple years ago. I had no idea it was still undergoing beta testing.

As for the gameplay, it looks like WoW with Dragon Ball elements. I sure hope the actual game is fun.

Are they implying you can play with and toy around with the aliens' antennae? Or are they examples of preset designs?

If anything else, the horned Namekian is such a boss.

Edit: Well I think you're gonna have to copy and paste the links to the address bar; when I did that the links worked.Refreshing may also work.

Guys, trust me, you don't want it to be free. Free MMOs suck. Not only is the moderation lax, you get less events and so on and - most importantly - there'll be another way for the hosts to recoup costs and profit. A way like charging real money for in-game items; a practice that makes a mockery of the whole point of the game. It's no different from paying real money for in-game money in MMOs like WoW or FFXI - a practice that those games actually outright ban, and for good reason.

While I'm highly cynical when it comes to MMOs, their very nature means that the hosts will make money somehow and a flat-rate fee is the best and fairest way - and one that doesn't imbalance the game in any way. It's about £8 a month to play WoW, or about £100 a year. That is a lot in the long term but then you can also look at it as £2 a week; that wouldn't even buy you a pint of beer a week.

Anyway, the reason I came in here wasn't for that, I was going to ask: has anyone heard of or seen a picture of the people that teleport you between locations in DBO? You know, like you'll go to City A and there'll be a place where you can go to be teleported (for a price) to City B? I remember hearing about it a while ago and I'm sure I saw a picture of them - and they looked like Gure from the 2008 special. Only now I can't seem to find any mention of them. Was it just a very specific DB dream I had?

I thought it was Trunks who teleported you between worlds. It was future Trunks but his name translated to Hero of Time Trunks or something. I'm really not sure but I swear I've heard that from somewhere.

Also, have you played Flyff? That was a free MMO and it really wasn't all that bad. It was actually very fun. There were no hidden charges, people were really friendly and overall I just had a good time. I had to quit though because of school. You should check it out for days when you have nothing to do.

He's called "Time Patrol Trunks"

Do you think they'll put out an artbook for this game? Something featuring all of Mr. Toriyama's sketches and designs for various characters, scenery, clothing, creatures, etc?

Everyone's probably already realized this, but on the website there's a purple Namekian with a more normal Namekian face. I guess that means the faces are just customizable? If so, I know Velasa will be happy.

Also, they don't have to be green? Dunno how she'll feel about that. Personally, I'm already imagining pink Namekians...

I know Trunks takes you around time, but within the same timezone there are people that take you around the worlds you explore - it's a staple of all MMOs and usually certain classes get this ability themselves later on. So to go from West City to East City or whatever, you'd speak to these people and possibly pay a fee. Trunks is just for initiating the "classic battle" missions.

Personally, I'm already imagining pink Namekians...

No I remember it being mentioned as well.
Weren't there supposed to be Yadrat(ians?) on Earth or something?

At least I do remember an alien in a Yardrat outfit.

The reason for the various Namekian looks is, of course, the need for character customization. If I recall correctly, Namekian's can decide how their offspring will be "designed" when they create the egg. As different as the horned Namekians look, they're nothing compared to Demon King Piccolo's kids.

I'm trying to find some of the new information translated into Japanese, because I don't know any Korean.

I wouldn't say all F2P MMOs are bad. Sure, the P2P ones have better control and a more friendlier atmosphere but there are some good ones out there if you look hard enough.

Flyff was already mentioned and other good ones I found were Silkroad Online, Dark Eden, and soon to come Dungeon Fighter: An MMORPG in the design of arcade style beat-em-ups!!!

Here's a gameplay video from last year. At about 3:29 you can see a little guy with a spherical head. I think this is what I saw before and thought "Oh, it looks like the race that Gure is from" but looking at it now, he's one of the guys that taught Goku the instant transmission (or whatever you want to call it) technique. If the clothes were different, he would seem to be the same race as Gure, though.

You know, I read a news article earlier about how Korea's got the fastest internet speeds in the world (they average 20MB. Where I live in NJ, average speed is 8MB) and I could see how such a fast internet speed would benefit this type of game. I think http://dbo.netmarble.net/main.asp is purposely set up for that type of internet speed.

It's working for me, but it still stutters at times.
