Cross Hunter: Serious Plagiarism

A manga "Cross Hunter", which appeared in Comic Bom Bom around 2001, has been said that most of it is made up of plagiarism of Dragon Ball. This manga was based on the video game on Game Boy with the same name. Though the plagiarism issue had been taken up by some fanboys, Cross Hunter ended abruptly without any reference or apologising and they never mentioned it even after Comic Bom Bom folded. 　(But don't get Comic Bom Bom wrong by this issue. CBB was a great comic magazine that had been as popular as CoroCoro Comic for a period of time. This was the fault of the last chief editor and Kai Makoto, the very person who drew this.)

... The first pic I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt. But as it kept piling up it just got... shit, that's crazy man. Especially the finger-sword battle page o_O What is wrong with these people?

Oh wow, that's ridiculously blatant. I suppose it's no wonder it disappeared without a trace--it had little-to-no original content on which to thrive based on its own merits. Pretty sad that it had to rip off Dragon Ball so much.

I'd never heard of Cross Hunter, though. Thanks for pointing that out!

Haha, I remember seeing this on a youtube comparison video, glad to see more scans being compared here too, never saw the Vegeta vs Recoome rip off before.

Well Dragon Ball isn't the only manga that's been plagiarized by Cross Hunters..

That site has been already in my first post. And, yeah, even Berserk and SD Gundam were plagiarized as well.
Note that SD Gundam is also a manga in Comic Bom Bom. How dare he stole an idea from the other manga in the same magazine.

Am I the only person who thinks that this is actually better than Dragon Ball Z?

I mean, the bearded clown with the frying pans? That looks more creative than Raccoon! The guy with the sword who looks like Gohan when he trained with the Z-Sword? He looks way more original than either Gohan or Cell! That guy who replaced Goku in the "Sword Fight" panel looks way more badass than Goku ever did.

This artist also conveys action and movement way better than Toriyama ever did in Dragon Ball Z; I actually feel like I can picture it in motion!

When you don`t have to worry about coming up with great action sequences (since you just use pre-existing ones) you have more time to think about design and how to slightly improve the feeling of notion, movement and action in the scene.

That being said, even though it could be better because of what I said, I dont really think its actually better art than Dragon Ball.

How can you say that? I mean, it's obvious this guy takes pride for his work, and actually thinks it through! He seemed to take great care for detail in mind when he made this manga, whereas Toriyama just wanted it to be over with.

OMG! With the exception of the terrible drawings the poses are exactlly the same. I understand using references but damn, talk about cut and paste.
