Do You Think DBZ Will Be Brought Back In The UK?

I know there's already a thread like this, but I didn't want to get into trouble for bumping it. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone from the UK on here thinks we will ever get Dragonball Z released over here again? We used to have everything over here until the rights were lost (which I still don't know why

).

The only Dragonball Z merchandise I can find now is the manga.

Nah, DBZ has ran its course in the UK.

Perhaps Kai when it gets dubbed... though I laugh when people on YouTube suggest "The Ocean crew could dub Kai!".

It really doesn't matter, as long as Funimation releases Dragon Ball stuff in the US, we don't need ANYTHING here.

If we got DVDs it'd be shitty encoded PAL crap from Madman, either that or just more DVDs from AB Groupe.

I have to disagree for people like me who can't get Dragonball Shipped from the US. It would be cool if they did release them over here. BTW does anyone know how the Licenses got lost?

In this day and age I find it pretty hard to believe that you can't buy the anime from the USA or even Japan for that matter.
There are many websites that provide this service. If you've potentially got the money to pay expensive UK prices on a DVD(s) then surely you've got the cash to pay for the shipping from the USA where its cheaper.

To answer you're question, beyond those random three movies we got over here as far as I know nobody ever owned the distribution license in the UK. Manga entertainment stated they attempted to acquire the rights but Toei's fee for the footage we're too high they said.

You don't need a credit card.

Get a prepaid card like a Quidity from the Daily Mirror, one of your corner shops should have PayPoint access, and then you can get a Paypal account attached to that card, that's what I do.

I don’t really mind if we don't get Dragonball Z back over here, if we got Kai that would be pretty cool. As long as I can import DVD's from Amazon, eBay and other sites, I'll be happy.

I don't think that they ever will either. The show had a good run, and you can only restart the series so many times, because of course, people get bored and stop watching (which is what happened).

Maybe they'll have a relaunch in a few years and we'll see it again, but I don't see anything in the near future. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I don't see ''Kai'' coming here at all and wont be gambling anything on a release. With the limited amount of anime that is aired here, it is stupid to think we'll be so lucky.

MiStAkeS lIke ''youtube''. Is becoming a little bit too much. Most of the time, people are pretty accurate and they don't need every typo pointed out, nobody's changing it back anyways, the corrections are too much and they just make the forum look very sloppy.

You don't even need to do that pre-pay stuff. If you have a bank account, you can have a debit card. I have a Visa Debit card from LloydsTSB and I can use it to by anything I like off the internet. Sites accept them as often as credit cards.

As for the license thing, well animation is accepted in Japan and America as more of a part of mainstream culture. Also, from what I gather, in countries like France, Spain and Germany it's also more ingrained in the culture. In the UK, as we all know, we tend to make cheap cartoons for kids that sometimes become classics (like Danger Mouse or Duckula - both notable for having actual proper actors involved, including David Jason) but are usually just utter shit. Because America speaks the same language as us, it seems easier for the companies to just import US cartoons (same goes for US sitcoms). Specifically with anime, it has a terrible image in the UK and I don't think it's recovered even now from the tabloid-led "tits and tentacles" furore in the 90s.

It's Kai, not Ki. Quite apart from them having different meanings, Kai rhymes with "pie" and Ki is pronounced like "key".

I'd argue that the only thing making the forum sloppy are people who don't properly proofread their posts. Don't like it? Don't make the mistake. You agreed to type properly when you registered, so that's what we expect you to do.

I can appriciate moderation in the sense of, capitalizing names, or correcting spelling. But editing my "Youtube" to "YouTube" is just obnoxious. I've changed it myself now, but I do agree that this whole correction thing is going a little over the top.

I heard rumblings along the lines of Manga entertainment trying to get hold of the license to distribute Dragonball in the UK, but finding it too expensive, I have no idea if there is any truth to this though.

And because I can't resist throwing my two cents in; I have to agree with Rory, I think some people are getting a little trigger happy with their newly appointed powers, I agree with good spelling and grammar being enforced here, but corrections like "YouTube" are pure douchebaggery.

Well, first off, let me state for the record that I didn't make that particular edit and that I don't particularly consider it worth the effort in correcting.

With that said, I think you severely overestimate the entire point behind this moderator position. This isn't about being "trigger-happy" or even about "power"--it's about helping keep the forums clean and making sure they'd held to the high standard of quality that Mike has upheld for as many years as he's been maintaining this site on his own. It's certainly not fun highlighting small minuscule bits in posts, correcting them, and then dousing them in bold, red text--in fact, it's extremely tedious. It's our strong hope that we should never have to correct a post by anyone, but this is wishful thinking.

Objectively speaking, it takes far less effort for someone like you to make sure your post is properly structured and written than it takes for someone like me, Mike, or Kaboom to edit it. I'm not going to edit your post to edit the capitalization of YouTube, but I can both sympathize with and support the aim of correcting it if there were other mistakes corrected in the post as well. We were asked to do a job and we're doing it; don't blame us when your own actions result in what gets highlighted in your post.

Don't want to see "douchebaggery"? Type better. I can't tell you anything other than that, considering I've said as much as I can on the subject. I'm not going to speak on the "morality" or whatever of such an inconsequential correction, but this is nowhere near as overblown as you're playing it off to be.
