Eh, I really stopped caring about what a man should sound like in a cartoon. That's just the voice I know and recognize as Son Goku. I don't care if it's unfitting to others cause it fits for me, but admittedly, it gets really frustrating when I go to other boards or video posting of Nozawa's interpretation of Goku and read the same crap...over and over and over again. The same can be said on the flipside. I also get the same shitface reactions from my friends when I'm playing a game of Sparking! set to the Japanese cast......But yeah, Dragon Boxes. Can't wait.

My problem has never been with the Voice cast in particular, it was ALWAYS the script Edits.
Script Edits are where I draw the line, I can forgive most other things, but if you start changing the intended purpose and personality of the Story and characters, I start seriously disliking it.

This up until a point. Chris Sabat's Piccolo and Vegeta have grown up so much into two really good voices. But then there are voices like Kaiou or the obvious mention Freeza that just can't be improved upon.
That being said Sabat's death scene was absolutely amazing in the Freeza arc redub but the dialogue (as you've mentioned) just killed it. It was an amazing delivery but I still can't enjoy the scene because the actual content is completely made up information.

Good luck finding that version.

DragonBall was a Manga first. Like I said before, just like any story it's up for a certain level of personal interpretation. How the characters should sound is one of these.
That's just it, though. Dragonball WAS a manga first. And therein lies the main reason why a lot of people view the English dub with disdain. The Japanese script is pulled almost word for word from the pages of the comic, whereas the English script isn't even close to the original manga's dialogue. For someone who is a huge fan of the manga, this is somewhat unsettling.

I despise most of the English script's changes. I'm referring to the Voice Cast and the Voice Cast alone.

Out of curiosity how can you despise the English script yet still like the English version of the anime?

He
just said that he really likes the English voice cast. I can sympathize. Aside from a few notable exceptions (
i.e. Freeza), I love the majority of the modern voice cast too.

That's fine I was getting clarity that he meant his love for the English voices overruled the script changes. Jesus Christ Daizex.

I don't understand what the problem is. You asked a question and got the answer.

Maybe its because I grew up with the English cast first but I don't get the hate for Freeza's voice. I just saw the new episode of Kai the other day and(maybe because I was looking) I noticed a hint of Linda Yong when Freeza Talked.
I'm all for opinions but I don't get the hate.
Also, on the note of the script changes, Yea they are kind of annoying when you nit pick everything but you got the same overall idea and as a kid. At the time, I didn't even know or care about the changes. Now I know better and appreciate both versions and have a massive amount of respect for both in their own way. This is why I hope(because its a bit late for the Dragonbox...I think) Funimation will do a re-dub for Kai with an unaltered script.

...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

One can only wonder if FUNimation will get Kai, and if so... will they let the script mostly unchanged.
FUNimation should work on the current Dragonbox Z, and hopefully get the rights to the Jump Special, and the other Dragonboxes.

I think Tom Dubois of "The Boondocks" said it best for me when FUNimation announced the release of the domestic Dragonbox, after buying all of the Season Sets: "MOTHERFUCK!!! SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT, PRICKS, SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIIIIIIIT!"

I have to agree with him here...what's so bad about Linda Young's Freeza? Sure it isn't as good as the Japanese version, but is it really worse than some of the others? Dameon Clarke's Cell is more annoying for me.

I have a lot of respect for Dameon Clark just because he was future Gohan in the Trunks special. His Cell however, is sort of eh for me. I like his voice for the Imperfect and Perfect Cell but his 2nd form voice annoyed me to no end(it doesn't help I basically hated that form all together). I have seen little to no stuff when it comes to Cell in Japanese so I have nothing to compare his voice too but overall It didn't bother me.
I have a question on the Dragonbox though(I missed a lot of this thread). Are there other audio tracks confirmed aside from the original Japanese audio with subs?

Linda Young is undoubtedly a good voice actress.
The problem is that her Freeza voice is completely, utterly, and in every way inappropriate for the character. Freeza is a suave, high-class, MALE warlord. His dub voice sounds like he's a creepy, chain-smoking grandmother.
It's completely WRONG for the character. That's a simple fact.

I really like Dameon's Cell performances in the video games. To me it's on par with the Japanese VA.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I do too, He's actually one of my favorites from the dub along with Kyle Hebert(ironically)
