So, does anyone think there is a chance FUNimation might finally do an English version of Head Cha La?.

I have zero interest in watching the dub, but I think it would be neat nonetheless.

I hope not. The lyrics for Cha-La-Head-Cha-La are so nonsensical that it would sound like ass in English unless they completely changed the lyrics.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

It's probably unlikely, but nothing would surprise me at this point. But I REEAAAAAAALLY want them to.

I went snooping around to see if any other Dub tried making an English Head-Cha-La and I found this.

I tried looking for the one I had favorited on YouTube, but I guess it got lost, but I found it again in a different video:

I think Tom Dubois of "The Boondocks" said it best for me when FUNimation announced the release of the domestic Dragonbox, after buying all of the Season Sets: "MOTHERFUCK!!! SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT, PRICKS, SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIIIIIIIT!"

Is it so hard to accept the fact that songs can be ADAPTED? God damn! Was Dragonball's intro a 100% faithful translation?

Linda Young is undoubtedly a good voice actress.

The problem is that her Freeza voice is completely, utterly, and in every way inappropriate for the character. Freeza is a suave, high-class, MALE warlord. His dub voice sounds like he's a creepy, chain-smoking grandmother.

It's completely WRONG for the character. That's a simple fact.

There you go Kaboom again, stating your opinion as a fact. You don't like Freeza's dub voice. So you some how form your opinion into a fact. Basically, any English dub voice actor that doesn't sound as the same as the voice actors as the Japanese ones in some way or shape or form means they got it wrong.

The answer is not that they got it wrong. It's that you don't like how Freeza sounds in the English dub, that's fine. Now that doesn't mean you go and say it is wrong. And then you don't go ahead and say your opinion becomes a fact all of a sudden.

Here I'll give you an example about something, Let's say I say this I like funi's fat Majin Buu's voice better than Japanese fat Majin Buu's voice. The Japanese actor sounds like he has throat cancer or something. Great, that is an opinion. But I'm not going to say that funi has theirs the correct way and that all of a sudden makes my opinion turn into a fact.

And also if you want to get technical with me. Did Akira Toriyama go tell the voice actors how each character should sound?

I like to see if you have proof for this? Otherwise there is no way in heck that you can say your opinion is now a fact. Either A. Provide the proof or B. Just state your opinion and leave it as that. C. Or do it anyways I don't care, I just want you to know it makes you sound obsessed with Japanese voice actors. I can't force ya. But people will notice. Hell, if I make a mistake, someone can point it out to me.

Unless , if you can find me proof how Akira Toriyama wanted his characters to sound. I'm not talking about dialogue, because you were complaining the way the voice sounds and not the stuff he says in the script.

And to be honest, it kind of sounds like you are an Japanese extremist. You hate the dub so bad, that you want others to believe they are wrong for liking it. So my theory is, you want to drill your opinions like it's a fact. Again, I'm not trying to be mean. But come on, stating your opinion like a fact just flat out means no one else can like the dubs you don't like and they are wrong for liking it. Even though it's an opinion, that is just messed up to an extreme. That's what it comes down to. And I have to say something. I can't bite my tongue on this one. I wish I could.

Again, let me state this clearly. I know I repeated 3 times. But someone liking something you don't like, doesn't make them wrong. Nor does it make your opinion a fact.

No, to Hell with that. It IS a fact.

Freeza is not an old woman. He should not SOUND like a raspy-voiced old woman. The voice is inherently flawed and inappropriate.

Fat Buu sounds and acts like a little kid in either version, which is in-character for him. Both voices are appropriate.

Then you don't know jack shit about me.

The dub voices that I don't like are few and far between. Freeza is one of the universally-hated ones that practically everyone who actually knows anything about the character's true personality can use their brain and realize how wrong it is.

Toriyama personally chose Goku's voice actor, but I don't have a link to verify this. I'm sure somebody else on these boards probably does though.

*face palms* Ugh, this is the type of shit I was talking about in the other thread.

So now if I don't have a problem with his voice, then I don't know anything about Frieza's character? I could've sworn he looked like a hermaphrodite.

Let's try to make sure one thing is clear. My informing someone that, "the voice is inappropriate" does not equate to, "you're not allowed to like it."

You can enjoy and prefer or whatever you want when it comes to whatever you want. But claiming something like, "dub Freeza's voice is faithful and appropriate to the character" is complete bullcrap. Not a matter of opinion.

But does anyone really want the Orange sets? I want to watch the dub I like in the best quality.

Orange Box: The set that you merely "settle for"

Dragon Box: The set that you actually want.

No, to Hell with that. It IS a fact.

Freeza is not an old woman. He should not SOUND like a raspy-voiced old woman who constantly cracks horrible jokes. The voice is inherently inappropriate.
"cracks horrible jokes"

This could be stated as a fact. Since the dialogue is suppose to be like the manga. That you didn't state before. As for the old woman. That is a little bit exaggerated. Anyways, if you want to state that as a fact rather than opinion. They you need to find proof how the voice was suppose to be.

And also didn't Funimation re fix Freeza's voice for people? On the remastered sets at least. Maybe you didn't like it, who knows. Anyways, trying to state your opinions like a fact makes you sound like you are obsessed with dbz. Freeza is a alien by the way, not a human. Do we know what outer space creatures are suppose to sound like? Hell, if you wanted realism, why would aliens speak Earth languages, they wouldn't know Earth languages. Let alone what their vocal cords may sound like. If you wanted to get that technical. Unfortunately, I don't want to get into this any further.

Alright, fair enough. But you do realize, if people see you state "Fact" you are "Wrong" . They will equate that as they aren't suppose to like it. And if they aren't suppose to like it, then they will interpret that as you don't want them to enjoy it. So if you don't want to people to interpret you that way. Then I would be careful for those choices of word. Just a suggestion. I'm not bossing you around.

Buy both of them.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Why do so many people on this board have friggin' chip on their shoulder? The whining and complaining and the "pissed offedness" gets very tiring and ruins a decent discussion.

Is this post counter-intuitive? Maybe.

Well, in a sense it's true. The Dragonboxes do appear to be aimed at the Japanese version fans, and FUNi themselves have pretty much outright said that.

It's still not that clear cut, because fans of a specific version of the dub might like the high quality video, too. But unfortunately, you can't please everyone, and it's weird for someone to expect it to be tailored to their needs when the product clearly isn't aimed at them.

Edit: Oh, and then people complain that they're not considered the target audience. But what are you gonna do?

Let me make something clear, they said HARDCORE FANS. That was all the said. Lets face it, if you belong to this site(Dubs or Subs) you are a Hardcore fan. So in other words...the Dragonbox is for you.
