DragonBox DVD Extras
DragonBox DVD Extras
I was just wondering if anyone [MajinVegeta for instance] with knowledge of the DragonBox DVD's could give us a in-depth rundown of the different set's special features. My curiosity was sparked by the recent screencaps of the "Dragonball in America" feature.

Sure thing. Let's see:
DragonBox Z Vol. 1:
Extras Disc:
-Bardock Special, including a lead-in with the preview for the special
-Textless Opening/Closing (Final variation of Cha La Head Cha La, and Come Out, Incredible ZENKAI Power!)
-Various international clips, including:
--Spanish intro/Head Cha La (were there two spanish dubs? This isn't the same one I remember seeing on Telemundo)
--American recap for episode 103, "Pathos of F r i e z a" (wow...just, wow...)
--Chinese dub, episode 1. Initial exchange between Raditz and Piccolo.
--French dub, episode 31. Everyone's pondering at Kame house after Goku's power surge destroys the scouter.
--Italian dub, episode 10. Kuririn retrieves Yamucha, and he and Buruma exchange words outside the baseball stadium. Yamucha becomes gung-ho when he hears Kami-sama will be training him and the others.
--South Korean dub, episode 31. Vejita charges up the Garik-Ho and Goku prepares a Kamehameha to counter.
--Portuguese dub, episode 31. Vejita returns, after having been unsuccessful in finding the moon.
-Music video..with fighting and...dancing...mixture of CG and clips from the series.
-Collection of DB commercials.
More in a few.

DragonBox Z Vol.2
Extras Disc 1:
-Trunks Special (No preview this time, though)
-Textless We Gotta Power/We Were Angels
-Textless Head Cha La/We Gotta Power, sans remastering/touch-ups (there's some cel damage that I can see here that aren't in the other textless versions)
Extras Disc 2:
-Playdia "OVA" Part I
-Playdia "OVA" Part II
-PS2 "Dragonball Z" Preview (Budokai 1)
-----------------------------------------
DB DragonBox:
Disc 26 (final episodes and extras):
-"Goku's Traffic Safety"
-"Goku's Firefighting Regiment"
-Textless Opening and Closing (Makafushigi Adventure and I'll Give You Romance, 1st variation of the opening and 2nd variation of the closing...I think).
-U.S. Censorship Clips (again, wow...just wow...)
------------------------------------------
Thanks to DBW for the translations on the two DB extras. And I'd just like to say...wow. These sets are awesome. Also, the improvements they made between the DBZ and DB sets really show, in terms of design. I'm really glad I ended up getting these. They're not perfect, but they're so close that I'm willing to overlook the number of shortcomings that I could count on one hand (whereas the reverse is true for the domestic releases ;p).
And just keep in mind, these are the on-disc extras, but you've also got cool booklets that come with each, with character sketches, interviews with people from the show, and an episode guide among other things.
Now, where's my movie box announcement?!
-Corey
Edit: I think that's good enough, but if you're looking for more detail on any extras just let me know and I'll see if I can help.

As far as I know there are four dubs for spain:MajinVejitaXV wrote: --Spanish intro/Head Cha La (were there two spanish dubs? This isn't the same one I remember seeing on Telemundo)
-Catalan
-Castelan (in german called "kastelanisch)
-and a third 'kind of spanish' (in german called "baskisch).
A friend of me live in spain and has one of the spanish Cooler DVDs, with this three languages and japanese. So there are 3 versions of Cha-La.
Yes, to elaborate on that:Timo wrote:As far as I know there are four dubs for spain:MajinVejitaXV wrote: --Spanish intro/Head Cha La (were there two spanish dubs? This isn't the same one I remember seeing on Telemundo)

-Mexico has their own Spanish dub due to some differences in language/accent with Spain's Castillian Spanish.
-Spain had multiple dubs for different regions: Castillian [traditional Spanish], Catalan, Basque, and Valencian.
LOL, my favourite extra of them all! I'll break them down...MajinVejitaXV wrote:-Collection of DB commercials.

Definitely not. It mentions Chinese and English, which are big hints that something's a bootleg. They also appear to be selling it in parts, three discs per set. The entire real Dragon Box has at least twenty discs all together, IIRC. It doesn't look like they even have every part for sale.Mike D wrote:http://www.animespectrum.com/d0897a.html
