We'd have loads of threads about this movie blatantly ripping off Dragon Ball.

Had I not known it was DragonBall, I would probably have been impressed with the action sequences (they are fairly original). However due to the dire acting and plot, I would dislike the movie just as much.

I'd probably hate it. The corny dialog makes me cringe enough as it is, without the "Dragon Ball" I'd have no attachment to the movie whatsoever.

Picked it up on Blu-Ray last week and checked it out again. God it's terrible.

If it hadn't had "Dragon Ball" in the title, I never would have seen it. And it would make even less sense to me as the characters didn't have reasonable responses to their situations, and the pacing was terrible. As it is, I enjoy it now as a guilty pleasure, a testament to the ability of Hollywood to make even original ideas into hackneyed garbage. I enjoy it slightly less than the Hong Kong flick.

This too, I love the other LAM, it's even campier and manages to follow the story better than Evolution, It's such a bizarre treat for DB fans.

I wouldn't have even given it a passing glance.

Actually, I probably wouldn't even know the movie existed if it weren't semi-related to DB; the minuscule amount of marketing FOX gave the movie pretty much assured I wouldn't have heard it existed.

Not to mention most of the ads were on Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon; neither of which channels I watch anymore.

Not to mention the uneven passing, lack of exposition, and bland characters in E are disappointing to me.

I'd be shocked if it were to ever get a sequel.
On hiatus.

I'd be a little shocked if a sequel was announced, as well, but it could happen. Heck, Hitman is getting a sequel, WB announced a live action LEGO movie (as well as a Death Note movie, though that actually makes sense), and Dreamworks announced a %#@$*^! View Master movie. Anything, no matter how how freakin' RIDICULOUSLY BAD it sounds is possible these days. On the other hand, maybe we'll get a reboot. Fox just announced a Fantastic Four reboot.

I've always had the thought that Evolution was a fighting movie. All they did was take the names of the characters and the items from the show (Noybo, the Dragonballs) and make a lousy version of a Live-Action Dragonball movie.

But for your general run-of-the-mill fighting movie (That's made for Kids) it works. But not as a Dragonball movie.
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Fan of Dragon Ball Z and various other Anime since '98! ^^

I'm not kidding. Supposedly the plan is for a live action (with some animation) movie, aimed at the "family movie" crowd. Making a view master movie seems weirder, though.

Anyway, DBE would of been total crap without the DB connection. It certainly wasn't great, but in my opinion it was mediocre. (Something that many live action super hero movies and nearly every live action video game movie has failed to achieve)

They are making an Asteroids movie too(according to rumors). I'd say Hollywood is running out of ideas but then I look at Avatar(not the show) and Gamer and things start to look up.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

It was still a bad movie, not just because it was horribly based off of Dragon Ball. The characters were hardly developed and boring, the pacing was off, the villain was terrible and hardly a threat in the movie, and the fighting was awfully choreographed.

I'm of a firm assertation that most of the movie's problems weren't even connected to it being an adaptation of anything, let alone Dragon Ball, so no.

The budget was $30 million, so it looked about average for that money. Sure everyone likes to point to District 9 as an example, but the sad fact is that's such a rare movie to come across, not to mention Peter Jackson was the producer.

If it didn't have Dragonball in its name, I probably would have never heard of it. This movie didn't have a marketing budget.
