Oh no, I completely agree. The revenue that the parodies actually bring in is very small; just a drop in the bucket, really. But I also believe that it doesn't hurt anybody either. I have no moral objections for the use of copyright footage in non-profit fan-parodies. In fact, I think it's unreasonable to assume that they do cause damage to anybody.
I agree fully with that, as if we take TFS's parody as an example, the script is rewritten in big parts and the music is changed. Except for the Cha-La theme.
I would say that the copyright infringement is mostly due to the footage. But then you could argue whether why TFS can't use it as they want, as long as they don't get too popular.
But in the end, we all know that if TFS get too popular, money may come into the picture, whether it's because they get offered some money, start to live on the project or get money from advertisements on a website that they'll host the episodes on.
But, that's a little farfetched to think, I believe.

And as a conclusion, if too many videos get removed from YouTube, people will find another similar site to upload videos to. Like Dailymotion. Lots of music there, and videos too, and I have yet to see a video that has got removed from there.

Even though it has been stated many times before, I believe that TFS shouldn't have been suspended. They just parodied a show that many people around the world love and cherish, and is the reason why we as fans are buying the toys, apparel, games, and DVD's. I also understand that Toei has every right in their power to remove stuff they feel could take away sales of any sort, but in my own personal opinion, it's stupid to do so for parodies or comparisons.

The full episodes should be the main targets, but what am I, and the millions of others to do... it isn't within us to say, but Toei.

I think Tom Dubois of "The Boondocks" said it best for me when FUNimation announced the release of the domestic Dragonbox, after buying all of the Season Sets: "MOTHERFUCK!!! SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT, PRICKS, SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIIIIIIIT!"

Looks like Toei may or may not going through another sweep on youtube. This time, they went after a Dragon Ball Kai Preview clip I had uploaded awhile back. The following warning as follows:

Now they're going after episode previews? Isn't pulling free advertising kinda like shooting yourself in the foot? I wonder if they're gonna get on me about my Gohan desu yo!! or Kamehameha Toy videos.

What I've done, and it seems to be working, is remove any trace of big keywords from my channel and videos. Obviously Toei doesn't comb through videos to find Dragon Ball related ones. So by removing keywords, I'm hoping my videos won't show up on their searches. Unless they're using Video ID then I doubt they'll find my small channel.

I still give credit, I just censor words. "Dr*gon Ba*l," "G*ku," "T*ei," ext.

Is that really farfetched? I know Yu-gi-oh Abridged has their own website with Google ads and they use (or used) Revver, which pays a decent amount if you receive tons of hits. There's others too, like Blip.tv.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

It's about time. It's ironic that Toei took him down though. The bigger you are, no matter how you got there, the harder you fall.

Here is an abridged, summed up version:

He uploaded bootlegs Dragon Box videos, along with videos he stole from all over the internet, claiming they where all from his legitimate Dragon Boxes.

He also made an account on here where he praised his bootlegs and got banned for it, then he got another account under "Saiyanprincess" or something along those lines and acted as though he were a girl. VegettoEX found that SP's IP address was Gokudens, and he got banned again.

Piracy is heavily looked down upon over here.

I remember seeing this guy's videos. The menus he showed were definitely from the real DBZ Dragonbox though. By the way, how would you know if someone has gotten his source video from a bootleg? Since all videos are re-encoded anyways when you upload to youtube.

He still could be owning a legit copy of the Dragon box Vol 1 or Vol 2.

But I do agree with you if the videos he did upload weren't from the Dragonbox but he claimed them to be. Then yeah, then he is a liar. But that still doesn't mean all of his videos were from bootleg sources.

It's not that his videos are from a bootleg. It's that his videos were actually someone else's videos; he took them without permission, and claimed that he made them himself. As I understand it, anyway. The fact that his copies were bootlegs came up when he started posting pictures of them here, I think.

Ahh, yeah, that is a shame. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I was wondering why everyone was happy that his account was closed. I still can't believe it. I liked this guy. I liked browsing through his youtube account once in a while. It was interesting watching those Dragon box menus, and those extra previews.

I'm reading through his profile and he seems like a nice guy. I'm looking at his account through Google's cache.

It's possible it could have been a troll posing as Gokuden553 that came here and pretended to be him. But that is just guessing, I didn't follow this guy religiously enough on youtube to know that he went around lying about his videos.

Also, I know what you mean about bootlegs. I hate re-compressed DVD's. The video should always remain untouched. Unless of course it's for your own personal use and you want to make encodes from that untouched source(legit factory made pressed DVDs of course).

Yeah, when I had my last account (prior to YT banning it), he yoinked my Dragon Box video of Goku prepping the Super Genki Dama to use against Yi Xing Long. Upon calling him out on it several times, he blocked me and removed my comments.

He also stole the opening/ending videos the guys at Kanzentai ripped from the recent DB special, while claiming he had it and actually told people you could order it off of Amazon Japan.

On another note, it appears YT only pulls videos and accounts that have a high number of views. My alternate DB account has had not one video removed: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=DragonUniverse

A friend of mine on another board had an interesting thought when it comes to Team Fourstar. We know FUNimation thought it was funny and turned a blind eye to DBZA.

Think there's any chance FUNimation could host it as some sort of "fan zone" thing or something? I honestly don't know if that's possible or not, but it's an interesting thought.

I recollect suggestin' that TFS try to have FUNi authorized DBZA and put it on YouTube shows, but I think that's a bit too high-profile for what they want.

Alas, they've already gotten a third of their subscribers back.
