So I know that I'm rather late in buying this, I never could find the money to put aside to order this online. I found this in a local Barnes & Noble today while browsing the manga section. It was the only copy there, I had the money, so I had to get it:

This book is fantastic. Absolutely fucking fantastic. I haven't gone through the book page by page yet, but I've already quickly thumbed and flipped through it both in the store and upon getting home, and I love seeing some of my favorite art that I've found around the internet in print form in a hardcover book. I know this is the easiest to obtain Daizenshuu, but the fact alone that I now actually own a Daizenshuu has just made me ecstatic. Honestly, this was just a huge portion of making my day.
Do I believe that future Daizenshuu will be printed in the U.S.? It's certainly possible, even though we haven't received any word on it for awhile. I'm hoping for more Viz-enshuu, but even if this is the only one I definitely wouldn't mind grabbing more of these in the future.
...yay! ^_^

Aside from the first Funimation release of the Dragon Boxes, I purchased as recent as a few months ago the first three DBZ movies in a boxset. It's the Pioneer release with the Ocean dub on it. I was excited to get it and it did not disappoint me, as I was riding a high of nostalgia.
Hearing Peter Kelamis as Goku again, Saffron Henderson as Gohan, Scott McNeil as Piccolo, it was like coming home to an old friend. Of course, I wouldn't have bought it if the Japanese track wasn't on it, but I was more than glad to switch back and forth to hear both during a viewing.
The dubs for the first three movies are probably as close to a good dub DBZ has ever recieved, in my opinion, so I'm glad to own that release.

Kentai wrote:Son Gokuu is a fascinating character anyway, because he is - at face value, anyway - an idiot savant. The victim of violent head trauma as an infant [...] he's a simple bumpkin with a fair share of brain damage who's natural talents to work out what's wrong compensate for his broad lack of common sense. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

Finally got in my copies of VizBig DB vol. 5 and DBZ vol. 4. I've been waiting to read DBZ until after I finish DB, so now I've got 16 tankobon to read!
Also picked up DBE used on Amazon (cue someone with "I'm sorry" reply.)
The funny part is that I showed some of it to my little sister, who used to watch DBZ with me back on Toonami. She was COMPLETELY UNAWARE that this movie existed, and then she began to run off the list of her complaints with it:
- "Why is Goku not Asian?"
- "What was wrong with the original story? Why not just adapt that?"
- "Goku's hair sucks."
- Why is Master Roshi so young?"
... it went on and on. She hasn't seen it since she was nine, nearly ten years ago, and admits to barely remembering the series. But I found it humorous how the most casual of fans had the exact same reaction as the self-proclaimed "hard-core" fans.
