I get all that. I really do.

But I can't fucking understand Kaio at all.

It sounds like he's got some really funny jokes in there. I *know* he does, because I caught some of them re-watching it again and closely paying attention. I still didn't catch them all, though. I can't even imagine what it's like for the non-FUNimation, foreign fans of DBZ to tune in and try to watch these episodes and specials; it's got to be near-impossible.

Who's directing you, Kaiser? Are you self-directing? If so, you can't. It just doesn't work. Is it someone else? Regardless, the enunciation needs incredible work. I... well, I think it's impossible to use a voice based on Schemmel's/FUNimation's version of the voice and still come across as intelligible, but then again... if Schemmel can't do it, and Kaiser can't do it, I seriously wonder if it's possible at all.

I've noticed it before, but with Kaio playing a more central role in this particular (short) FAQ/special, it was really brought into the forefront a lot more.

Again, as you know... I bitch because I love :).
Hm... Has anyone else has this problem?

I can see where you're coming from Mike. Even I have to go back and listen to my lines a few times, wondering if people understand them well enough, but it doesn't seem to be that big of an issue. Every once in a while, we'll get a comment with someone not understanding a line from Kaio-sama. But it's such a non-issue that I've just been voicing King Kai like this for the longest time because that's just how the character sounds.

I suppose I can focus more on the pronunciation in the future, to make it easier for people. But as I said, we show these to friends who have never seen the script at all before we post it and none of them have said they can't understand King Kai, same with most of our fans, so... Please forgive the infraction. ^.^;
I have a little trouble understanding everything thats being said but i get the jist of it

What about shifting the interpretation to...was it Dave Ward? The original Ocean VA. DBZA's version is *very* close to Schemmel's. And Schemmel's was a shitty and near unintelligible take on Ward's (if I have the right guy- the internet seems confused as to whether it was him or Don Brown, and work firewalls limit my searching power unless I activate a proxy). The key components are about the same. Goofy, chortling, comical voice, minus severe seasonal allergies.
To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.

I've always had a problem understanding Kaio myself, I'm usually only able to grab onto a few key words and fill in the blanks myself.

I think the voice could do with some revision, nothing drastic just toning it down to the point that it's actually intelligible.

I too have had a little trouble understanding Kaiô. I trust Kaiser will attempt to rectify any qualms as he might be able to.

I'm not gonna lie....

I have absolutely ZERO problems understanding Kaio. I understood everything he said with no trouble at all.

Seconded. It basically was on the same level as Schemmel's version, which is what I guessed was their aim.

Haha, but some of us have trouble understanding Schemmel's Kaio. And I've seen the whole dub, so it isn't lack of familiarity.

I've not had trouble understanding Kaio... and was kinda confused that people were comparing him to Schimal's version, then I remembered the "And you've conveniently learned [...] offscreen"...
Generally speaking, he just sounds like some cranky Monsters Inc. Rahs-esque guy.
Hm.

I understand him just fine, it's just the voice is a little annoying. But I guess so is the dubs.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

Yeah I understand every word of Kaiser's take on dub North Kaio (King Kai). Turn up your microphones!  Seriously though, I can understand that maybe it is due to the nasaly voice but it really is not that hard to understand. At least I don't think so . . . :? I doubt there is much that Team Fourstar can do at this point in the series.

Lord King Kai's voice needed to be projected a bit better. Other than that it is a decent take on Schemmel's King Kai.

So it wasn't just me this time. It was the first time I had problems to understand Kaiser's KingKai. I think he talked a litte bit to fast this time. (imho for me as a german speaking viewer/listener).
Anyway the FAQ was awesome, keep up the good work.
