Seriously, does anyone know more about it? I came across it through Google news search... o_O

- Is this real?
- If it is, does anyone have more info? XD

- If it's not, let's turn the topic into this: How would a musical about DBZ look if you were the director?

..Discuss.

Looks like a fan thing to me. If it was official, it would probably be in Japan. There are BLEACH musicals (I've seen the first one & it cracked me up), & I could actually see this happening in Japan. It would probably be like the BLEACH musicals. Cheesy, hilarious, awesomeness in one convenient, bizarre package.

The idea of a db musical makes me  .
I can't really see it as a Broadway production though; if I were to make one, it'd be an animated special, no live action. ^^;

It wouldn't be so different from what they did with the character songs (which is how I know Vegeta, Kuririn, Chi-Chi, and Gohan can all sing) only whatever they would sing about would be in context with whatever the plot would be.

Also, I've heard Ms. Nozawa sing in-character as Goku; and Goku is a horrible singer. XD I'd like to see them play off of that. Like have a chorus try to drown him out whenever he tries to burst into song.

OR, or you could have it where everyone else but Goku is acting as if they're in a musical while he's the only one isn't and is thus tremendously confused by the sudden alteration to his world. X3
On hiatus.

A Dragonball Musical? Japan's the only Country that'll do this kind of thing!

If I get to see it on the Internet, I think I would shit my pants. XD
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Fan of Dragon Ball Z and various other Anime since '98! ^^

I'd love this.

Then, at the end, he decides to sing too, but it's so bad, everyone decides it's the end of the musical.
Kentai wrote:Son Gokuu is a fascinating character anyway, because he is - at face value, anyway - an idiot savant. The victim of violent head trauma as an infant [...] he's a simple bumpkin with a fair share of brain damage who's natural talents to work out what's wrong compensate for his broad lack of common sense. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

Perhaps my medication is messing with me. I'm actually starting to really want a japanese DBZ musical. This is just like that time I tried to convince my classmates that FFVII would make a great musical...

Great? Perhaps. But it wouldn't be a very uplifting spectacle, unless they trashed the entire tone of the story (which I wouldn't mind). Dragon Ball would at least make you feel good in the end.
To a strong man, the end justifies the means. To a stronger man, the means justify the end.

Uplifting? Not a chance. It would, however, be hilarious. I can see it now. Sephiroth breaking out into a song and dance after turning one of the most beloved characters in all of gaming history into a shish kebab... uh, back on topic...

So, a DBZ musical, huh? Would you want it to be based on a particular arc, or would you prefer an original story?

I'm not adding anything to the conversation, I know, but, I was going to this exact thing. :D ...actually no, that's not something to smile about, Evolution was awful. :x

Am I the only person here who hates musicals? This is a terrible idea!!!

I think the only characters a musical story-line would perhaps suit is... The Ginyu force! :P
