300 Characters and more!

For my 200th post, I want to see if we can name 200 characters in the Dragon Ball series with each of us naming only 1 in each post, and what you like and dislike about them the most. Try to post a picture of the character too, but don't post really small or huge pictures.

*Keep the pictures, likes and dislikes clean. I know what some of you actually like about certain characters the most. Don't post that.

*If someone has been named already, don't name them again. I will post a list of characters throughout the topic that have been mentioned by everybody up to the point the topic has reached to help people find a character to name.

*Characters must have a name. Human Bystander #3 does not count as a character. The only exception I will give is Farmer with Shotgun. Transformations and different ages of characters do not count either. However, fusions and non-canon characters will count.

*Any characters that come from the live-action movies do not count. That includes alternate versions of previously existing characters from the manga, anime, and video games.

If you have questions about how this topic works, just ask. I was originally going to make this a game, but it became too complicated when I was creating it.

Anyway, let's see if we can hit 200! I'll begin:

Character #1

<=Son Goku=>



Like: Almost always happy-go-lucky, but can also be serious when the time is right.

Dislike: Later in the series he ditches his family a lot because of deaths, training a pupil, leaving to train with Shenlong, and things of that sort.

Character #2

<=Pan=>



Like: When she's introduced, she seems like the new Goku. She's cheerful, happy-go-lucky and genuinely seems to enjoy training and bettering herself (beating her own times flying around the world) -- and this is at age four.

In filler, they seem to make the similarities with Goku seem even stronger. One part that sticks with me is when she walks on her hands around the edge of the ring, which I'm pretty sure Goku did as a kid, too.

Oh, and I like her design in GT. See below for what I think of her personality/role in it.

Dislike: She wasn't in it for very long. Shame. I wanted to see some strong female characters.

Also what Toei decided to do to her personality in GT. Rather than carrying on with the idea that she was the next Goku or anything like that, she just became kind of useless.. People's personalities are definitely going to change between ages 4 and 9, but I wish she hadn't changed quite as much. She wasn't all bad or dislikable in my opinion, but like everyone else, she was just there to give Goku someone to talk to.

Edit: Yeah, I kind of picked a character I didn't think anyone else would pick.

<=Bulma Briefs=>



Likes: She's extremely smart, uniquely inventive, occasionally very supportive, and very nearly always the voice of reason throughout DB/Z.

Dislikes: Sometimes a shrill, irritating, selfish nuisance. And she's a bit too judgemental, too.

Character #4

<=Kuririn=>



Likes: Down to earth and almost always well-meaning. While he lived the life of a martial artist for a good length of time, he still appreciated and acknowledged other pleasures and qualities of life.

Dislikes: Bit of a coward.

Broly



Likes: Movie 8 was good, he was pretty cool and his death in Movie 8 was great.

Dislikes: His major fanboy wank that he has.

<=Piccolo=>



Likes: Very knowledgeable, determined, and understands many things that others might not.

Dislikes: Sometimes overlooks obvious things and takes things for granted at some points.

Character #7

Yajirobe



Likes: Possibly the true strongest human in the series, Yajirobe was the only participant in the battle with the Saiya-jin to not be killed or hospitalized despite taking a beating from Vegeta, has never lost to Goku, and is capable of threading a Dragonball. If he ever cared enough to learn to fly, he would put Kuririn and Tenshinhan to shame.

Dislikes: His thong.

Likes: One of the only characters in the series who consistently gives a shit about his family. He's also probably the coolest grandfather ever.

Dislikes: He is completely and totally useless after that initial meeting.

Character #9

<=Lunch=>



Likes: Her crazy split personality made her a very unique and fun female character. Her good side is a very sweet and kind person who is more than willing to help out. Her bad side is a gun wielding maniac who, oddly enough, can also be good too. Well at least sometimes.

Dislikes: She later disappears sometime after the 23rd Tenka'ichi Budōkai, leaving all her friends behind. This is probably because of her bad side's urge to steal and rob banks.

Cooler



Likes: Was a awesome villain, had a kick ass look in his 5th form, and his supernova attack was cool.

Dislike: Got killed too easy from Goku in Movie 5

Character #11

Vegeta



Likes: Vegeta was bad-ass as a Villain when beating the shit out of Goku as the Oozaru. He's also got that little soft spot in him, both when Future Trunks got killed by Cell and when he asked Piccolo to take Trunks/Goten away from where he was going to blow himself up.

Dislikes: Incredibly cocky, thinking he can take anyone on just because he's the "Prince of Saiyans". He always wants his enemies to be at their best. He wanted Freeza to transform, he wanted Cell to become perfect, and he ripped out Fat Buu in Super Buu's head, in every scenario, he got his ass kicked. Hard.

Character #13

Pilaf


(Yes, I'm lazy)



Like: The first arc of the series was, more or less, what drew me into it in the first place, and not being particularly familiar with Journey to the West, the lack of connection to the storyline Pilaf had never really occurred to me. He was "the" villain of the series, largely comic relief, but also capable of coming off as relatively threatening at times, and was brought back for several rematches and plot device apperances. Also had some awesome filler episodes, the best being his grand finale, the snow mountain episode. Love it.

Dislike: He was written out. Neither Toriyama or Toei ever used him again after the Piccolo arc had concluded, and his final appearance as a wrinkly old man in GT, again just to kickstart the plot, just made him seem sad and pathetic. We get 9 awful episodes of Garlic Junior, but they can't even bring fan favorite recurring villain Pilaf back for a single rematch? Come on.

<=Son Goten=>



Like: He's adorable. He's sweet. He's playful. He loves to fight. He cries when his family dies. He's like his father. He's part of, in my opinion, the greatest storyline of the series. He's got great characterization in the original and the dub.

Dislike: Eh, I can see how some can find him annoying. And I feel his personality in GT, while not that bad, comes from out of nowhere. See how I kind of avoided making them negatives?[/img]

Likes: Good looking, friendly, freakin' strong! Fights for a cause.

Dislikes: I hated that he left and that he grew out his hair!

<=Mark (Mr. Satan)=>



Likes: That he always thought he REALLY was That cool... until the situation got real and he suddenly got a "Stomach Ache" XD

Dislikes: Not Much, he was consistently a Riot. Probably his English Dub name, it annoys me.

EDIT: Question. Can we post more than once? eventually we might have to to keep the posting up.
And Secondly, Do Future Trunks, Gohan, Bulma, And Cyborgs 17 and 18 count as Separate Characters?

<=Freeza=>



Likes: A villain with an empire of his own, used to be a threat to everyone in the galaxies, his leadrship skills, his attitude.

Dislikes: How he became not worth a trouble once everyone can distroy him with a poke of a finger.

<=Gotenks=>



Likes: All of his crazy/funny attacks. With the personalities of Trunks and Goten combined it just makes the character amazing.

Dislikes: That we didn’t get to see him in GT.

Character # 19

<=Mai=>



Likes: What's not to like? She's mature, sophisticated, intelligent, and I've found myself curious at times how someone like her ended up spending her life with a talking dog and a blue imp. Someone with her strengths never should have failed at life, but fail she did. Kunzait also summed it up well once upon a time: "Great, and wonderfully old anime style character design (she wouldn't look out of place as a Lupin femme fatale)." I've always appreciated early Dragon Ball's 80s feel, and Mai takes that a step further by being downright 70s.

Dislikes: Didn't get enough screentime. It's criminal for someone as awesome as Mai to be so uninvolved.

This is one of the best threads ever, by the way.

Likes: As the picture already says, Bardock proves once and for all that you don't HAVE to be a Super Saiyan to be unequivocally badass. When even Toriyama himself liked the character so much that he decided to insert him into the manga, you KNOW you've got a winner on your hands.

Dislikes: Only that he's dead. And that despite Sonny Strait's voicework for him being awesome, the FUNi dub of the Bardock TV special was so bad that not even Solid State Scouter could redeem it.
