Other than a lack of proper OP and ED animations, credits, next episode previews, and Japanese title cards. Correct me if I'm wrong on any of those.

Watson hasn't been around Funimation for quite awhile. The advertising reflects the expected audience.

Although kudos on the generally dicky post. When something is insulting enough to people that even I go "Wow, that's insulting" you've generally hit on something.

I meant audio-wise. It SOUNDS fine. What's you've mentioned is more from a video standpoint. Like I said on the previous post, the video definitely isn't perfect... but it works for me.

And on a related note, I refuse to catch this apparent disease that's going around that makes our forum posters all uppity with each other.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

I don't "slam" people at all to make myself feel better. I "slam" people in the hopes that they will spend the time to learn shit before they spout their misinformation.

But as I said, your equipment was not set up right, I'm glad that my advice was listened to and you checked the settings and fixed them (you really do need to look into your 120hz cables though, cause you got scammed.)
Well, I guess that makes us even then. You made an assumption about me, followed by a veiled slam to begin this. Kinda irritating to have someone assume something when they really don't know you, isn't it? I have no plans to do that again though. You're right, I don't know you, and you don't know me. Maybe we're complete opposites, or potentially a lot alike. We'll never know unless we give each other at least a little respect. So, I'll make the first move here an cease my hostile words.

They say internet arguments are akin to the special olympics, it means everything to those participating, but is viewed as a joke to everyone else present. We might actually get along if we give each other a chance. So, let's do that shall we? Truce?

I agree with you that the "120hz" cables are a marketing gimmick, and as such are overpriced. However, the cheaper ones do break off at the plug a lot easier if knocked into. Nonetheless, if you worked at an electronics store like me, and could get them for around the price of the cheap ones, wouldn't you do the same? It is true, that an HDMI is an HDMI, regardless, which I think is why you thought I may have gotten scammed. I can assure you that I did my research, and made the purchase based on the build of the cable, and not on the marketing gimmick. I wasn't clear on that, so I invited that assumption to be made.

I'll now retract my previous post, and wait to see if my assumption was incorrect as well. I'll take the chance that I may have been wrong, and that you're a pretty chill guy. I'll also hedge a bet that we can try to get along from now on if we both make an effort to refrain from formulating assumptions about each other.

Now, to get back on track, what have you guys heard about the intro/ending sequences? Is there any chance we'll get the correct intros later in the series this time? On the original Funimation Dragonball releases, it always annoyed me that they had the first intro for the whole series, up to and including the Piccolo Daimao saga. Hopefully they'll get those fom Toei and do it right this time.

I picked it up last Friday at Best Buy (yeah, it's there early if you want to go get it). It took me until Sunday night to finally sit down and watch it and get some actual thoughts on it.

It looks great. It's not perfect, but the colors are close enough to the Dragonbox release for me to not really complain. There's very little jitter, even though when it does happen it looks like there's an earthquake inside of my TV. Speaking of that, my TV has overscan like a motherfucker so at first I thought it was TOO zoomed in for my liking. I got used to it...I just need a new TV.

The Japanese version sounds great. And by that I mean, it doesn't sound like it's getting ready to rip apart at any second. Either it's been a long time since I last watched DB (and it has), but the audio actually sounds a little cleaner. Not bad for glorious old fashioned mono.

The 5.1 dub sounds OK! Your mileage may vary, but if you have the system and can stand the voices, you're going to get a good workout of your speakers. The only problem is that the BGM is still, for some reason, mixed way too low.

Lack of Japanese titles suck. It's a nitpick, but after going for so long with them, it's just...really fucking annoying.

I think I can I'm really happy with this.

You know the previews and op and ed is more Toei's fault than Funimations.

Well, today is the day. I'm currently in my Psychology class, and I'm going to head on over to Wal-Mart after to pick this up. I can't wait for those long-awaited 13 episodes!

I just picked this up today at MovieStop, and I had a bit of a problem getting it due to the fact that when I traded in my KidMark Saga of Goku and some random Pioneer DBZ DVD's my grandfather decided to give me a hard time and embarrass me in front of the whole store.

He hates Dragon Ball, so by trading all my old discs just to get this set he said it was foolish and a waste of money and he giving me that lecture on the way home.

Dont waste your time. For some reason Walmart doesn't carry DB Season 1 in stores. You're better off going to Best Buy.

Yep. I went to two different stores and they didn't have it. Which is weird, because I bought all of the DBZ season sets there.

Haha, too late. I already went by and saw it was gone. So I did just head on over to Best Buy.

Um, is this available in any store? The local Best Buy also didn't have this in stock.

I just bought my set, and I have noticed that the packaging is much thicker and more durable than the Z and GT sets... Also instead of being glossy it is a matte finish.

Also noticed that the box had a TV14 rating on it, compared to DBZ season 2's TVPG. Have a good guess to why with that.

Its street date is today. Any store that was going to have them already put them on the shelves. Your Best Buy probably sold out.
