Original Title: Bulma and Son Goku
Dub Title: Secret of the Dragon Balls
SUMMARY:
Goku, an orphan living in the mountains, is out fishing when he meets Bulma, a young girl searching for the seven Dragon Balls, which, when gathered together, grant a wish. Goku's grandpa gave him the four-star Dragon Ball before he died. Needing this ball for her collection, which already contains two balls, Bulma decides to let Goku join her search. They take off on a motorcycle, but Bulma is suddenly grabbed by a giant flying dinosaur. Goku hits the monster with his power pole and rescues Bulma.
VISUALS:
The animation in this series is quite good, but, sometimes they are a little too good, Seriously, sometimes the art looks like it does in the manga. It's funny this is one of the only 'old' anime that I'll watch.
AUDIO:
I quite like the music in this series, especially the piece at the beginning, after the opening, it's a really calming track. The voices in the dub are good, it's a nice change from what I've heard recently with Kai's Goku voice, damn, it's annoying.
I'd also like to say that this series has the best dub opening ever, no arguments. It's a really nice dub version of "Mystical Adventure". Funi also did the same with One Piece, by translating the Japanese intro song to English, why don't more companies do this?!
THOUGHTS:
This is a nice opening episode, it introduces the plot, gives us some nice Dragon Ball humor, all while keeping the audience interested enough to pay attention. Some of the dialouge is so 80's cheese, like "Totally radical." *roll eyes*
