While scouring Kanzentai's theme guide (thanks guys!) I noticed there was waaaay more inserts then I knew about in the series, espicially in Dragon Ball. Listening to Mezase Tenka'ichi and seeing how it was used as a staple in the first two Tenka'ichi I was very sad to learn it--rather, nothing--was used during the 23rd Tenka'ichi Budôkai. Thinking about it further, a new version or even just reusing the original would have fit pretty good in the opening bits of Gokû's battle with Cell, working as a neat little tribute.
Anybody else have any ideas how the inserts could have been [re]used further along into the series?

I personally like that they didn't use insert songs that often. That made when they did use them that much more special.
For instance, I wasn't expecting an insert song in DBZ when Gohan first went SSJ2, and bam, it's there, and it's the most epic moment of the series.

I really wish "The Biggest Fight" had played right after the scene when Vegeta admitted Goku was #1 in the Boo arc. It just seems like a special enough moment that it would have fit perfectly. The Goku/Boo fight that plays after his confession along with the montage of everybody watching the battle (Dende, Kaioshins, Enma-daio, Kuririn & company, everyone in Hell) looks like it's just begging for an insert song. The emotion's just perfect.
I know the song wasn't written or recorded at that time, but it still would have been perfect.

There are a billion scenes that I would slap a Wu-Tang Clan song on to.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

An insert song has to qualify as music.

The Genki Dama against Kid Buu. The song they chose wasn't bad at all, but an insert song would have been nice.

I like how you picked something that has absolutely nothing in common thematically with Dragonball, and also regularly causes people's ears to bleed.
Seriously though, I think for the most part there were enough insert songs, though as much as I love Goku's SSJ transformation music, I think an insert song wouldn't have hurt.

I'm not even going to get into an argument about the quality of the Wu-Tang Clan's music or how much it relates to Dragon ball. It's heavily inspired by Kung-Fu flicks and samples a bunch of them. And the Clan is considered one of the best Hip-Hop groups of all time by underground and mainstream fans alike.
I really shouldn't have brought it up in a board full of rap haters. SMH. I'll leave you all with

Don't get me wrong. I like rap. Good rap, that is. And don't pretend like you didn't say it to start some shit. You knew what you were doing.
Rap doesn't fit with Dragon Ball. Unless it's remixed BGM and a couple of characters from the show are spitting.

But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

When Goku goes SSJ for the first time. I was always disappointed at the mundane music that played.

Actually, judging from another conversation that was had in another thread, I figured people would agree with me and
not act like music snobs.
I've never heard anyone say that Wu-Tang Clan is bad unless it was one of those snobby Underground fans.

That's the problem. You base all of your likes and dislikes around other people. Every time we've talked about music you immediately resort to "well they're considered the best by so many people," "they won this or that award," blah blah who cares blah. I like what I like because I hear it and decide for myself if it's good. I could care less who likes it or who doesn't like it or what awards it won. I don't like Wu Tang Clan, plain and simple. And well, as far as it fitting with Dragon Ball, read Kunzait_83's post.
I don't any sort of feeling of superiority over you because of what music you enjoy. I'm not saying that you shouldn't listen to it. I'm just stating my opinions in a playful, admittedly negative, tone.

Rap has no place in Dragonball. If 40's and 9's have a place in Dragonball then it's no longer DB. We don't need another "Step into the Grand Tour" or whatever it was called.
Goku's Super Saiya-jin tranformation definately should have had some sweet Kageyama music playing in the background. Something like "Spirit vs. Spirit" would have been nice but with a faster tempo.
If I wanted to listen to an asshole,I'd fart

That's the thing - not all rap is about about 40's and 9's. The reason I said I would stick Wu-Tang songs in the show is because a lot of their songs fit the fight scenes, especially in the movies, and because of the style of music, I thought it would be appropriate. The best example is when Garlic Jr's henchmen are fighting Goku outside of his castle in Movie 1. Guillotine (Swordz) seemed like it would fit perfectly.
And Inna, if you would have told me your opinions in a better tone instead of making it seem like you were stating your opinion as fact, I wouldn't have brought up all of that other stuff. If I based my opinions on what everyone else liked I'd be bashing the dub music right now.

50 Cent's "Don't Push Me" when Cell is being blasted with bullets would've worked quite well.

Wu-Tang actually puts out good music. Also, if the RZA scored it correctly, I bet he could come up with nice Dragonball insert music. This of course would probably go better without words.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.
