Haha geez. >_> I don't
mind dubs but I don't know how long I'd last living with someone that absolutely preferred them.

I agree about it having a lot to do with it being a cultural thing. Thanks for bringing this up. ^^

O_O! You learn something new everyday. [I wrote this before I saw Pedro the Hutt's post.

] Wow. Actually, I think I may have heard that before, but right now it feels like new knowledge. XD I absolutely love and admire Takarazuka despite never actually seeing any of their work aside from a few short video clips. T_T Kabuki and Takarazuka really interest me in general. I'd love to learn more about both in the future...
Did Suzukaze-san play male roles in Takarazuka? Or do you know that? ^^;

Hey, if that's the only thing about my Fiance that we disagree on, I think that's pretty awesome, plus he is too.^^
Anyway, yes Suzukaze played the "Otokoyaku"(male part) roles. I personally think Mayumi Tanaka(Kuririn) and Masako Nozawa would be great in a production too.^^

They have plenty of experiencing with making male parts sound right at least. =D
Wow, that intro-page image made me think. "Haruka cosplayer line up.. they'd make good King's too" (King from KoF fame that is, not Tekken. XD) Now if I ever get my butt to Japan I'll be sure to see both a play of theirs and a Kabuki play for the sake of comparison. XD (And perhaps some Noh while I'm at it)
Hm.... a japanese DB based play... >.>;;

What about Saffron Henderson?

Mayumi Tanaka is great, Kuririn doesn't sound like a woman at all. Yajirobe's version is a bit strange, but is good for a laugh

.
It's funny how ppl always associate manly

voices in characters which are fighters and have a lot of muscles... Many men out there have girlish voices.
Plus, do you want anything cuter in all of the Dragon Ball series than both Chibi Goku and Chibi Gohan laughing?

Nothing against Ms. Henderson, but I can't picture her doing adult Goku or Gohan either. Now that I think about it, outside Lucrezia Noin and Hamtaro, all her voices pretty much sound the same to me.

Yes, but there are not many men who I've heard have girlish voices who look like this:
Eh, it's a matter of taste. I prefer male characters to sound masculine, you and most others here apparently prefer the kid character's VA to voice them for their whole life. Let's just agree to disagree here, shall we?

tarsonis, yup... I feel the same way, too. The American version just gives me a weird feel compared to the Japanese version. The music interprets into the whole presentation and makes me view the American DBZ as a different anime-type series, but the Japanese is so satisfactory. I guess that's just me, though.

yeah, it just has a more artistic feel to it, and feels like a lot of thought was put into knowing which cue to use when (or, when to have no sound at all)

Er, no you have never warned me about that before. You warned me about my avatar size, but that was it.
I normally pay closer attention to my grammar, but I guess this slipped..
