as for the dvds...
Declic images were supposed to make dvds with japanese,french,spanish, and portugese audio for all db z gt.
However, AB broke their deal, because they couldnt find a japanese version with decent quality, and, they did not want to re-buy rights for it just to make dvds.
So ab decided to just sell random versions of the french dub only version and make some easy money.
The first dbz set you see, was from the "light" attempt they called it while waiting for the "collector" that never came.

After declic images made this light version, AB broke the deal, and so the co-operation, and they found themselves a new partner: TF! video
(the channel that boardcasted db and dbz originally).
They made those ugly covers.
After a while, I think the deal went back to declic-images, but they had to continue in the same style.

Unfortunately not... but most people there don't really care. As a matter of fact, most people were more pissed about it missing one of Spain's languages: Valencian.

Dragonball is actually very rare in Spain now, I went there when I was seven and saw some pretty cool DBGT stuff, I wish I bought some of it but I thought it was fake. Consider yourself lucky to find anything DB there.

Yes, when I studied there a few years back, They re-released the tankoubons, in cheaper (2,92 Euro) versions. Now those are hard as hell to find! They are going for a lot on the secondary market nowadays, although now that they are getting Kanzenban release, people will just wait.

And yes, there are some bootleg stuff, but most of the official stuff found there are AB toys (the French toys) and Import Super Battle Colection.

Amazingly, when Final Bout was released two years before the American re-release in the UK, it was also re-released in Spain. The point? I actually picked up a few GT videos there (I don't care what people say I liked this series). And another note, why did I find these videos right next to a set of adult movies, including some children's videos that were sitting right next to the adult movies?

They have awesome covers

I was tempted to buy a bunch of tapes only because of the covers.
One year I was inn spain i bought the first tape and quickly found out how much the dub sucked, and well, i dont know spanish either lol, but i wanted to see dbgt!
The year after, they were in the evil dragon saga, had awesome cover with ssj4vegeta on and stuff.

But if they have portugese, why don't they have french?
In spain, just like in france (I can say this because quite a few studios are the same), these later years more and more dvds have only sub options, so I'm sure these opinions have changed.

I'm a dragonball maniac, and a maniac to compare dubs.
Too bad these will be in pal format, rather bothersome to synch on dragonboxes :/
There should be a topic about having the japanese version!

Some are original but near the last few videos they just use the crappy copy + paste method. I actually thought the dubbing was good

well, there might be different dubs like on DB wich seems to have 3 dubs.

I got a dub where they had original dan dan,
and even dubbed preview, that was good.
But, the voices sucked badly, and the screams were horrible.
The dub was worse than the Chinese in my opinion.
Best dub there is of dbgt must be the spanish "mexican" one.

For db and DBGT I cannot say, because I haven't fully compared, but there is always a possibilty.
Especially since the translations of the french dub are utterly bad.

blue water dub didnt use original music did it?
french always had.

Yes, kiosks rock! I miss those... And yes, sadly many kiosks carry porn, and they show it off as if it were nothing...

God, we had it for the entire 153 Dragon Ball episodes (I always wondered what that flying thing was

)... I'll see if I can get those images.

Ah the helicopter, the memories... I actually have a DVD with 5 or 6 Dragon Ball episodes in French with that opening. It was utterly bad, but it was made in 1989 I think so it sure ain't no "Rock the Dragon"...

It shows that the English dub was based on the French dub because the "H" word was created for the French version. "Satan" was already part of Piccolo's French name (Satan Petit Coeur) so they had to find something else.

The Polish version of DB was a Polish voiceover over the French dub, and guess what - we had this opening for almost all DB run. I don't know how it was supposed to make the show appealing for people other than drug junkies and alternative artists. It was so... psychodelic.

I think Germans got this opening too.

That is why Piccolo is called 'Big Green' in the UK Movies. These are based on the french ones too. 'Satan little Heart' sounds like a Muppet Show character. Hehe, and Piccolo is like a green space-negro... ;D

I guess they took Italian meaning of "Piccolo" too literally... Trust me, it sounds worse in Polish.
