Some Buu questions

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Some Buu questions

Post by smiley » Thu Sep 17, 2009 6:57 pm

Two questions:

1. Kid Buu's regeneration - was it ever stated to be better/faster than all of the others Buus? I see this often being brought up - but I don't remember it being said anywhere.

2. When Good Buu was getting pummeled by Kid Buu, Goku and Vegeta said that he would quickly lose all the energy if they continued fighting, or something in that area. And, I'd heard that the Viz version said that this was only possible because one Buu was fighting another version of Buu. Is this true, and can I get the exact quote of this?

Thanks.

1. No, I don't think that's ever said.

2. Yes. Viz Vegeta says "The fat one's power is going down... they can get hurt, when they're fighting another Boo."

Also, from your question, I assume that line is Viz only?

The 1st statement is an Anime only line. I remember Goku stating his "powers of recovery" among the other things that put Kid Boo ahead of the others.
"First I whip it out! Then I thrust it! With great force! Every angle...! It penetrates! Until...! With great strength...! I... ram it in! In the end... We are all satisfied... And you are set free...!" ~Dante~

False for both questions.

When I first saw the title of this topic, I was expecting the once-every-month-or-so questions (Evil Buu / Kid Buu? Strength? Absorba some candé~!). As this is not the case, I must say 'YAY!'. ... YAY! ~_~

'Nyway, I recall in the FUNi dub of the Anime that someone commented "Awough! How can he regenerate so fast!" After Buu came back from destroying the earth (Which... he probably didn't have to get damaged by anyway. -_- ). Didn't really make a great deal of sense to me then, either. :?

As for the Buu Vs. Buu thing... I find that to be bizarre, for some reason. I guess one might construe it to make some sense, but somehow it doesn't seem like Buu should have gotten weak and tired just because he was fighting another Buu.

My hypothesis (that I thought of while typing this...) is that Mr. Buu was less Buu than Fat Buu was prior to exhaling the evil Buu, and more just Dai Kaioshin dissolved in bubbleGum. You know, 'cept with Buu's memories and personality and all... which ... is still pretty much Dai Kaioshin dissolved in bubbleGum. ^_^

1. Kid Boo's regeneration was never once stated to be better or faster than any of the other Boos' in the manga, so you must be thinking of the anime. All Goku said was that whatever he did, Boo's power never went down. Something along those lines anyway.

2. Viz Vegeta states: "The fat one's power is going down... they can get hurt, when they're fighting another Boo." I guess Vegeta just reckoned that since Fat Boo is technically the same person as Kid Boo, he thought that Fat Boo wouldn't get hurt.

I think he would just assume fat Boo wouldn't get hurt simply because he was a Boo.

I'm only vaguely remembering this from another thread (which is why I haven't said it until now), but I think the implication in the line in the original Japanese version was that it's possible to hurt a Buu, assuming you're powerful enough. I can't remember who said it though, so I'm not sure about the accuracy. :|

Yet previously we see Vegetto whooping Super Gohan Boo's ass.

Are you sure that they said the same thing in the original japanese version?

But it was never stated his energy was dropping. This is the ONLY case in the whole arc (as far I recall) that Buu's power is stated to be reducing as the consequence of being beaten around.

Yeah, you're right.

Yeah, you're right.
While you're right in regards to ki dropping being mentioned, I think Boo being able to bleed because of Vegetto implies that it was dropping then, too, and just not mentioned out loud.

I don't see it as being any different to the other beatings he got. He only seemed to get a nosebleed because he actually had a nose at that point. He's looked far worse after a beating than that.

But burns and bruises are not the same as bleeding. Vegetto even comments he was surprised Boo was capable of bleeding (ie: if Boo gets impaled, it's the same as seeing a donut hole, but there'd be no blood).

I'm not sure bleeding necessarily implies a character's power dropping. At least, not in every instance. Like when SSJ Vegeta let #19 punch him in the face. He was bleeding then, but he wasn't the slightest bit hurt by it. But I don't really know whether or not Super Gohan Boo's power was dropping during his battle with Vegetto.

Here we go again. Are we even sure that the same thing was said in the original version? I remember that in the Viz edition many things were different than in the original version.
