Bah, everyone knows the Death Note Manga is better.

But yeah, pretty big difference between older fans and the fans of today.

Oh, you miss the point.

It's their extremist behavior that bestows upon them such titles.

The dialogue never made sense in that "dub!"

I watched the first few episodes a year or so back, and the dialogue was so random that I was utterly confounded!

"Serena" was standing (in place) in the jewelry store in the first episode, and randomly stated "this place is wacko weird!" Then her friend said "huh?! Where ya goin'?"

I was :?: 'd

Heh, I agree. Especially in the later portions, since the anime tends to just have characters magically reach conclusions so that they can show other scenes which could have easily been cut (like Misa and Takada having dinner).

'Extremism' is a subjective term though. I think proper nouns are almost always better left in Japanese, since they usually sound odd when translated into English (to use Bleach, "Moon Fang Heaven-Piercer" is the translation of "Getsuga Tenshō" and sounds...not as cool, to be frank). Your average person from the English speaking fanbase would quite possibly view that as being "extremist."

That was actually a typo(fixed it) but I have heard a girl say it like "death not" but she had a accent.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

I wonder what their reaction would be if you told them that people used to have to buy fansubs. :P

Theres a complete difference between preffering subs, and naturally hating anything thats dubbed for the mere fact that it's in english. Preffering subs because you think they're better? Not a big deal. Getting upset at a dub for not BEING in Japanese, that's where I draw the silly line.

For the record, I equally hate the "Weeabo" title the net created. Just expressing interest in anime can get you that label, as such it has no meaning to me.

It might be good for an English dub, but really...
Are you saying the English dub wasn't good? It's widely considered to be better than the original ya know...

While I haven't seen the entire anime, I've read all the manga, and I have to say, could it really get much worse than what Near did with figuring out Mikami was "X-Kira" (or "Y", I don't remember, its been a while)? The whoe "oh that man is here, oh, he's also here, that MUST mean he's doing the killings. I know Mikami said something about taking action into their own hands, but seriously, any Kira fanatic could've said the same thing.

In my experience with the subject, newer anime fans expect nothing less than perfection. Although I should probably be in this group, seeing as how I'm only 17, I don't share the same views :D.

I thought Death Note had one of the best dubs of all time
I thought it was good but not the best. Most people I know never care for the dub in DBZ since they are too busy watching the action and story. My sister is 14 and she thinks the funimation dub is pretty decent.

I can say that I'm completely different..... I love anime classics and can enjoy it in normal way as other movies and lot of other things......

I can say, that I'm also intelligent..... bit of, apart from those crazy ugly women dressed as Goth lollitas and screaming Gomen and kawai and watching only new anime because of nice and digital animation and loving all Japanese things only because they are Japanese......

These are the Czech lady-otakus and guy-otakus in czech are those youtube-like-opinion idiots......

I don't know what is worse, Hip-hop or anime fans?!

Near's the kind of person that, when there are no better theories, will consider a suspect 100% likely until proven otherwise. It's a strength and a weakness, I suppose. I think he actually says at one point, "if we're wrong, we can just apologize."
