Oh, no! They might sue me for everything I have!Godo wrote:I think that we should be happy that they don't file a lawsuit on us. We are breaking the "contract" we signed with Youtube after all.
Ha, that wouldn't even pay for their court fees.

That is true, you know if they'll sue me, I won't be able to repay the penalty to end of my life for what I have here: http://www.youtube.com/user/DBZThemesGodo wrote:I think that we should be happy that they don't file a lawsuit on us. No, because it was Toei who took us down. c.cTheGreatness25 wrote:I just saw a Youtube video of Chris Sabat watching an episode of Dragon Ball Abridged (a fan introduced it to him at a convention). Anyway, he seemed to love it. You don't think he walked into the office the next day going, "Hey guys, check this out!" and FUNimation decided to take it all down?

Some media giants in Sweden actually did that. The case was a father whose daughter had downloaded two movies, and shared it via torrents.KaiserNeko wrote:Oh, no! Since the father was paying the Internet and since it was registered on his name, he was prosecuted and fined with 20,000 dollars, which was the calculations of their loss, counted on the DVD's value and the times it was downloaded.
Did they make any money on the whole deal? No.
Did they scare the shit out of people and made the Swedes download less? Yes they did.
That is true too, so I guess an account ban doesn't seem that bad after all?MCDaveG wrote:That is true, you know if they'll sue me, I won't be able to repay the penalty to end of my life for what I have here: http://www.youtube.com/user/DBZThemesGodo wrote:I think that we should be happy that they don't file a lawsuit on us. Myself, I was one of those who uploaded media that I didn't have a right to do. I got a warning and all my videos were removed.
So I decided to quit acting like an amateur and use a proper site instead, whose administration had some balls to begin with.

They used to do that here in the USA, but within the past year or so they stopped because it wasn't scaring anyone anymore.Godo wrote: Some media giants in Sweden actually did that. The case was a father whose daughter had downloaded two movies, and shared it via torrents.

Well, looks like it isn't just Youtube that Toei is going after. They're now going after torrents. Came to my attention after we were trying to figure out why the one group's fansub of DragonBall Kai got removed from a torrent tracker:
They're certainly stepping it up a notch.<mxs> Hello. Any admins/ops around ?
<mxs> well, then in the channel: Please do not readd Dragonball Kai to the scarywater page. DMCA notices from Toei received.
<mxs> (they came via BayTSP, i.e. Toei specifically hired a US firm to do that for them)
