Proof that prototypes are better

Post by Dominator » Mon Jan 24, 2005 2:17 pm

A few years ago there was a site was dedicated to Final Bout and they featured a few screenshots. I regret not saving them to my harddrive as I feel like a fool now

Well, for starters the characters were built much better with actual textures, like out of Tekken 2. And there were actual skies rather than just a colour.

The combat also looked pretty interesting, one screenshot was of Chibi Goku kicking Trunks, causing Trunks to fall back and the camera angles were much better (they were a bit like the custom camera angles out of the Toshinden games that you could control).

And one other screenshot featured Pan and Cell about to enter a 'Power Struggle' were they fire two energy beams at eachother, instead of firing a beam then freezing it so the other player can launch one, both players launch them at once.

If anyone has the screenshots, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure if what I have is the same thing...

But there *is* something in an old EGM of mine that showcases what was eventually going to be Final Bout. I only recall possibly Goku and Freeza shown, but it was certainly 1997. I have no idea if that EGM is here with me, or packed away in some unknown box with my parents in Virginia, but man... wish I had that...

It looked infinitely better than Final Bout turned out to be...

Heh, bit like that Obi-Wan game then. >.>;; The early PC version screenshots looked far better than the final X-box version.

A good example of Prototypes-Are-Better is the early version of Soul Reaver. Oh man, I loved that game, shame it was never fully completed...

I saw the same pictures,
and in addition, I saw the E3 movie, and Goku fire a kamehameha 10 times bigger than what he got in the game!!!

More proof that prototypes are better, anyone seen the early screenshots of Taiketsu? Miles better than the final product with more tracks in the jukebox.

I'm not sure, but I *think* that's different from the final game. (ex. I don't remember the mountain in the BG)

That's a pretty common screenshot, but that mountain is certainly bigger looking than the one in the final product.
