Not Your Typical Goku/Superman Thread
Over in the "Unique Beliefs" thread this mini topic sort of spawned and I had a question of my own, so I figured there were enough people to merit it's own thread.
So usually with threads like this people ask who would win, but my question is actually this: Which incarnation of Superman would give Goku the the most well matched, even fight?
Due to my extremely limited knowledge on Superman and DC comics in general I have no idea what the answer is.

Re: Not Your Typical Goku/Superman Thread
Let's face it; Superman at his typical strongest makes not just Goku, but ANYONE in the DB-universe (sans Super Vegetto, but that goes without saying) look like a speck of dust in comparison. So the question being asked here is, "which version of Superman is relatively depowered enough that Goku can match him?"
However, non-comics incarnations of him tend to be weaker, like in the movies and Animated Universe. They're the most likely candidates of all.
Of course, Goku has also gone through lots of changes and grown more powerful over time, despite not having much in the way of "alternate" versions of himself (manga, anime, live-action...?). I've seen it suggested fairly often that Goku from the 23rd Budokai-Raditz era would be a good match for Animated Superman, for example.
But by the end of Z, with boosts like Super Saiyan 3 and all, Goku could atomize entire planets with the power contained in his pinky finger. And lord-only knows how strong his '100 years later' self from GT's epilogue is.
Me neither, really. But comics-Supes has gone through all sorts of incarnations with a wide range of relative power. I'm sure at some point in his more than 70 years of existence, there's been at least one version of him that would be a perfect match for good ol' Son Goku.SSJ2bardock wrote:Due to my extremely limited knowledge on Superman and DC comics in general I have no idea what the answer is.

I would go with End of Z Goku being able to handle the situation.
With my also lack of DC knowledge over DBZ knowledge, ... I've seen Superman in the animated series struggle to lift cars and rubble. Goku on the other hand can lift buidlings and hold back 'continents' [Frieza picked one up on Namek with his mind] as well as hold back and deflect energy from the most powerful villians around.
The only way I see Superman winning is if there was no oxygen.

I like Goku better then Supes but I will admit that most post-crisis incarnation of Superman would likely beat Goku. SSj4 Goku might win against the current version IMO (but just me). Pre Crisis (both with and without the sword), One Million, Infinte Crisis SBP, and Comsic Armor Superman would be too much for any DBZGT/Movies character to handel.

Thats another reason I think Goku would win just on 'character' alone.
Goku is Goku no matter what part of the show you look at. Orange and Blue and ready to fight. Super man has all of these alternates and pre-crisis and all these suits and such.
One and Done. Goku didn't need to change any because he always handled/helped the situation to come out the same, although stronger and a bit smarter.

The question isn't "Who would win in a fight between Superman and Son Goku?" it's "Who would win in a fight between Batman and Son Goku?".
Or maybe Mr. Satan and Batman...?

The question wasn't 'who would win?'. Also, Goku struggles with 40 tons without going Super Saiyan in the Buu saga. I don't know which Superman you've seen have trouble lifting cars, but I've seen him throw sky scrapers and move planets.LeprikanGT wrote:I would go with End of Z Goku being able to handle the situation.

Animated Superman is definitely the best choice. They brought him down a lot, made it possible for even the less godlike villains to at least beat him around a bit. He still throws buildings around, though... I think he might be able to handle more than Raditz before being outclassed, but I'm not sure how much more.

I do think Goku is better then hand to hand combat then Superman (or from what I have seen) but Superman has fight against foes much greater then Goku or any foe from DBZGT like Darkseid, Amazo, Imperiex, Mr. Mxyzptlk, Doomsday (depending on the version), and Anti Montior.

PC Superman would likely beat any form of Goku IMO since his heat ray can steal up something as powerful as the Big Bang, and is fast enough to travel thorugh in time without that much trouble. If he has the sword of Superman then he would crush Goku since he is around Eternity with the sword.
Animated Superman destroy the Earth at end of JLU, I think he might Sayain Saga Vegeta after a good fight. I don't think he can beat anyone past that IMO.Animated Superman is definitely the best choice. Pre-Crisis Superman could cry cancer cure and fart universes.
Then in the next month, he couldn't. Instead, he could blink hard enough to destroy mountains and his nails could cut diamonds.

Superboy-Prime isn't altogether evil, though; he's psycho from having sacrificed everything for the sake of others, only to find out it wasn't worth it at all AND become the ultimate detested and rejected person in the multiverse. I can totally see a twelve-year-old either snapping or becoming suicidal under that strain. Remember the "you made me do this" moment; he was just a kid making a mistake because of how he's the strongest super-being in existence.Super Sonic wrote:Not quite Superman, but the evil Superboy Prime could possibly take Super Saiyan 4 Goku. Then again, he's so broken it would take Spirit Bomb like the one that took down Omega Shenron or bigger to take him down.
But that said, I think the fact that SB-Prime is strong enough to warp space/time by punching it shows he can take on SSJ4 Gogeta with ease.
On-topic, I'd like to see the Kingdom Come Superman (who is part of the 52-verse) take on an SSJ3 Goku. If magic-laced lightning can hurt this Superman, he may not be that much faster than sound, whereas SSJ3 Goku is a lot. Factor in that speed discrepency, and Supes'll take a lot of hits. Put Superman against a wall, and he relies solely on his fists, whereas Goku is a skilled tactician and fighter in battle. Now the question is, would SSJ3 Goku be strong enough to defeat Kingdom Come Superman before running out of energy?

Modern Superman's not quite up there with the best Supermans, but I think he might do relatively well. Kingdom Come Superman might very well outmatch Gokû.
Animated Superman fights have never quite been as 'big' as the DB fights. Sure, Clark can slug like a mother when he gets into it, but I've never been really excited by a fight, save maybe the final Darkseid fight in JLU and the fights in Superman/Doomsday...

IC Superboy Prime was a total monster, not even the whole GL's was able to stop him. He also survived a universe devastating blast by Monarch, and survived having his entire atomic structure dispersed. He destroyed the Phantom Zone (another Dimension) and break reality with one punch too. You would need the whole DBZGTmovie universe to stop him for good.
Also why have Goku and Superman fight not team up? I rather have them team up in a crossover similar to Cross Epoch IMO.
