DragonBall: Raging Blast (PS3/360)

My first match absolutely sucked because I didn't know all the controls... But now I'm starting to have fun fluid matches now that I've learned some of the controls the demo doesn't tell you. Down on the D-pad is charge ki... by the way...

I hope to be somewhat decent at the controls once the game comes out.

I also like that you can listen to your own music as well. I am totally ripping my favorite Kikuchi DB/DBZ BGM tracks so I can have my own "custom" Raging Blast soundtrack.

The game is pleasant, but damn, the camera is horrible. And I really don't think they're gonna fix it.

The controls are akward at first (I only played BT3 on Wii), but I guess it's just a matter of time. The graphics are decent, the musics suck, I think I will wait for some comments about the online mode to buy it. Or not.


Bah, who am I kidding, I'll buy it eventually. But for less than 25€ if the online mode is broken.

I don't have a hard drive so I wouldn't be able to download the demo. I have been checking out the videos that Omega and DBZAnto has been uploading. The camera does look terrible.

Y'know when the game was first playable, the camera was even worse. It was as if the developers had straight up ported the PS2 version and just cropped the gameplay. I wonder if the current camera is a product of a rushed programming fix.

Also, I can't think of a single useful implementation of "Super Rising."

Can anybody here rip audio? I don't have a 360, so I can't get that damn demo yet, but if somebody could rip the BGM, that'd be brilliant!

The deflecting supers thing is surprising because that has been missing since fucking Final Bout.. just hopefully it looks better.

Here is a video from the demo here. Nothing special really but it looks decent. Sadly you don't see the attack fly away from you, it's just a cutscene animation.

I don't care that the new controls make it feel new, it most certainly wasn't a change for the better. I'm kind of used to them now but I still dislike them a lot. Seriously, if they had just kept the controls from BT3 it would feel a whole lot better.

And a lot of the melee combos seem to be gone now too, along with the step in. Unless there's some ridiculous new way to pull them off that the command list doesn't mention.

No problem if you don't like the music, as theoriginalbilis mentionned, you just put any music you want, including original Dragon Ball Kai/Z musics. On PS3 at least, I don't know if Xbox 360 has this function too since I don't have one.

So everyone can now have a Dragon Ball game with the perfect soundtrack: the one they see fit, whether it's from one of the original series or from any movie/game/artist in the world!! 8)

For what it's worth, the 360 has that feature built in. It's available on any game.

Cool, then everyone having this game will have the music they want!

It's weird that this function is available on any game though: having the music play instead of all the sounds seems possible, just like putting the TV on mute and playing a CD. But I doubt that EVERY 360 game can replace ONLY the BGM with any music while still selectively keeping noises and voices from the game.

I can imagine you can play music instead of the whole game sound, but not replace BGM only on Resident Evil 5, Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit, and else... Otherwise, why would some complain about Burst Limit's music if it was just possible to replace it?

But I wouldn't know, as I said, I don't have an Xbox 360, so if you say it's possible, I'll believe you, though it highly surprises me.

No, that's how the 360 works. Obviously games like Rock Band disable that feature while you're actually playing a song, but during the menus and stuff it kicks back in. And during pre-rendered scenes where the music would be part of the video file or whatever, it stops playing. But it's a default feature of the 360. It cuts out the game music and plays whatever you want, for any game.

Yeah, I downloaded the 360 demo, and played some of my own music for a couple matches.

With the DBZ games at least, you can play the custom music in the background while the voices and sound effects are of normal volume, so technically if you're listening to some DragonBall music, it simulates the experience of the show that much closer...

That's cool then, with this one, everyone will get to play their own music on PS3 too.

On PS3, the option of putting in your own music has to be decided and allowed by the developers, and very few actually care to do it. People who tested the demo for Raging Blast found out that the developers allowed that option, while the developers of Burst Limit didn't (but maybe the feature wasn't activated when Burst Limit was released too, and since they weren't keen on creating DLCs and updates after the release...)

Speaking of which, it would be cool if they did DLCs for this one. The clever kind that is. I think I remember some of you got hints of DLCs to be available, but I don't know much about how it turned out since then...

Being that I haven't any of the 'current gen' platforms, I'd be quite interested in seeing how this 'use you own music' feature works. I suspect there will be videos popping up on YouTube in the next few months with the music replace with the Faulconer score. :p


Personally, I'd love to play tournament rounds using Mezase Tenka'ichi! :)

On the 360, you can either copy a CD to the hard drive or plug in an MP3 player via the USB slots.

From there you can make playlists and such using the guide button, going to the music section, and picking songs.

Solid State Scouter while playing as Bardock in Burst Limit was awesome, let me tell ya'.

The intro and ending dialogue sequences look incredible. They're the closest thing to the anime I've ever seen in a game.

For the 360, you can register with the Windows Media Center (I think as long as you have a Windows ID. I'm not too sure though. It's been a while since I registered mines) and stream all of your music from your computer to the 360 without having to download anything to your hard drive. It saves a lot of space and time. The only thing that sucks with streamed music is that you can't make your own saved playlist from the songs you might want to choose while playing Raging Blast. You have to go through each song or album by order or shuffle mode. I usually just have them shuffle between each albums since I have other non-DragonBall music on there.

I have most of the Kikuchi score from the recent BGM collection, Super Survivor cover, Infinite World Soundtrack, and Burst Limit Soundtrack uploaded into my computer. I played around with all the albums during my Raging Blast gameplay. Especially for the Kikuchi score and the Kageyama singles, it really makes all the difference. Never having the chance and money to play the original Japanese Sparking! games, I really feel like I'm playing the show. It adds an extra layer of simulation and even makes the game more enjoyable. While listening to some of the Kikuchi tracks, I was actually motivated to find different combos and new ways to counter in the game from what I normally usually do.

I'm not too sure if I'm going to purchase the game just yet after having my hand in the demo. I'm really half and half about it because all of the other gaming blockbusters coming within this Winter and Next Spring. Not to mention the Dragon Box coming out the same day as well. Argh!!

You don't have to necessarily rip your music to the 360 hard drive to listen to it on the 360.

If you have a PC with Windows Media Player or Windows Media Center, you can stream music from your PC/laptop to your 360, just do what I did and go to: www.xbox.com/pcsetup and that'll give you the instructions to do it; just make sure your 360 is on and connected to LIVE.

You can't make your own playlist with the streamed content while on the 360, but you can create a playlist on your PC, and then the 360 should update and read the new playlist. I know I'm totally making a "Raging Blast" playlist with all the various Kikuchi BGMs and vocal songs!

Yes you can, it just won't save, so you'll lose the playlist every time you turn off your console.

You can just have your music on a USB drive and plug it in to the 360. That's what I usually did. Saved all the hassle of connecting it to the PC or ripping music to the HDD.
