I agree, I was thrown off by the controls but after I played the demo a few times they started to feel more natural.goku the krump dancer wrote:Everytime I play it, it gets better and better.
Also, if you guys press start and look at the command list, it tells you how to execute some real interesting things. For example, and this is for the PS3, if you hold down R1 and keep pressing square you can start to dodge attacks. There are different Doges set for each face button(X,S,T,O) so hold R1 and play around.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

Wow that was cool ! I see they actually incorporated the high speed clashing that was only in story mode for BT3, amazing !
Things have definately looked up !
Check this out ! The " best " player hands down !

For me the only step backwards is the camera. The controls are fine with only two exceptions. I don't like how special moves are done. They turned something easy, like up triangle, into something idiot proof by just having it be "up" on the right analog stick. Other than that the only awkward thing is using the d-pad to power up. I wouldn't mind it so much if the other directions had use too, but so far its just that one button and it's a bit weird.Amigo Ten wrote:It's not doing anything for me. I played around with it a bit, got used to the controls, but I'm not liking it. The gameplay just feels like it's taken a big step backwards from BT3.
Most of these things aren't that big of a deal, they just take some getting use to. However, the camera could be make or break for me.

I feel where the guy in the vid is coming from but I have a feeling that the demo that we have is more or less 20 percent of the game..thats why the ki effects and stage hieght seems a bit last gen..but if you look at the vid with Goku vs Broly the tournament stage is fucking enormous!!!
It's not too late. One day, it will be.

Hopefully the ki visuals will be revamped for the final product. -crosses fingersgoku the krump dancer wrote:I feel where the guy in the vid is coming from but I have a feeling that the demo that we have is more or less 20 percent of the game..thats why the ki effects and stage hieght seems a bit last gen..but if you look at the vid with Goku vs Broly the tournament stage is fucking enormous!!!
I love where he said.... " I guess my expctations are real high being on the PS3 compared to PS2. I need more than better graphics and a better online mode for me to buy a 60 dollar game with less characters, and stages when I can buy the old game with everything, but online mode. I'm not making another Burst Limit mistake ! "

Words to live by.
I can understand people wanting to have the " next-gen " Sparking experience, but so far I'm still content with Sparking Meteor, for it delivers more.
The added battle features are awesome, but.... I dunno.... it jus' doesn't cut it like it should, Too much taken away and not enough given back in return. -shrugs
I don't remember gaspin' like I did in '07. Maybe with " Super Saiya-jin 3 Broli ", but that was a clear shocker. -lolz
After watching the video of that guy playing, I have come to two conclusions.
1. He's REALLY good.
2. I've always said this game was graphics whoring too much, but now... I'm at a loss for words, so many random flashes in the middle of combos, in BT3 it had a nice effect that fit well with the anime/manga. But now, its just a random yellow flash being all shiny for the sake of being there. Does this bother anyone else, or does this just come from being a nintendo fan with game play coming first and graphics meaning nothing?

The flashes aren't there just to look cool. They're to point out to you when to cancel into another move such as step-in/side-step/backflip, to just continue your string, use a triangle-move or to use a super move mid-combo.verto wrote:After watching the video of that guy playing, I have come to two conclusions.

I wasn't saying the reason its there is random, I'm saying the effects they use are just there to graphic whore. Like when Goku uses instant transmission, theres no reason for a big flash, just the "phasing" animation would be good (since thats what was used in the anime/manga).Captain-Sora wrote:The flashes aren't there just to look cool. You live quite a sad life if those're words to live by. Most people complained about Burst Limit because "No characters!" the same people who suck Sparking!'s balls day and night. Street Fighter Alpha 3 has more characters than Street Fighter III, does this make it a better game? Of course not, you'd have to be high to say that gameplay wise, SFA3 is better. Same goes from Burst Limit, the main characters are all there, and the gameplay was improved, and the graphics sky rocketed. If you're complaining, you're probably missing the "game" bit and just looking for impressive super moves. In that case, may I recommend Budokai 3? It's older, yet still graphically superior to the Sparking! series.Fox_Boogie wrote:-lolz

It's hardly "next-gen", we're years into the current generation of gaming, when was the last time they released an Xbox or Gamecube game? The PS2 is the only one still going. Oh, and stop saying "lolz".Fox_Boogie wrote:I can understand people wanting to have the " next-gen " Sparking experience, but so far I'm still content with Sparking Meteor, for it delivers more.
Anyway, back to the game!
Son, I am dissapoint.
I thought this game wasn't going to be the mess I assumed it to be at first. Recent trailers have show potential, but no, it's the same old game with new graphics (not even remotely impressive from a technical standpoint). If the demo is any indication (come on, you think they're gonna fix so much up now? We're less than a month away) it really hasn't improved much, infact, things are worse. Oh, and stop whining about characters. If you actually used bottom-barrel characters like Spopovitch, you have too much spare time.
As for my little verdict.
Good:
Less characters!
Cool new theme song
Somewhat graphically superior
Bad:
Same old gameplay
Controls made even more complex (possible?!)
Needless special effects at times
Only somewhat graphically superior

This is exactly why I said the demo is more or less only 20% of the finished product. I mean they gave us 3 characters(4 if you count SSJ), one stage to fight on, and one song that plays, (2 if you count the main menu), they didnt even give us a 2 player option. They didnt even add all of the stage effects(ground splitting etc..).
I have high hopes for this game but I'm not expecting a lot, thats probably why I'm enjoying this demo so much.

Now, what you want is a fighting game with DragonBall characters.Rory wrote:Most people complained about Burst Limit because "No characters!" the same people who suck Sparking!'s balls day and night. I, on the other hand, want a DragonBall game. So I'll take Raging Blast.
There's a huge difference.

Actually they are both fighting games with Dragonball characters, its just they are implemented in two different ways. Just saying.Supa Saiya-Jin Tullece wrote:

I like these controls way more then BT3, and aside from the over the shoulder view and massive arena, this is not a carbon copy of the PS2 games. They need to make some improvements for the final version, CAMERA, but over all its worth the money in my opinion(just not right away).
