The gang agreed they did not want the Freeza battle to be the Lani show, so LK was given Freeza...SSJ2bardock wrote:I thought it was voiced by LK, Freeza sounded just like his Marik Ishtar.SHINOBI-03 wrote: Freeza is Lanipator, right?
...'cause otherwise it'd be an entire stretch of episodes of Lani and Masako pretty much being the only cast members in the episodes (as Lani also does Kuririn, Piccolo, and Vegeta while Masako the Sons).

Sweetness. It worked out very well, IMO.JulieYBM wrote:The gang agreed they did not want the Freeza battle to be the Lani show, so LK was given Freeza...SSJ2bardock wrote:I thought it was voiced by LK, Freeza sounded just like his Marik Ishtar.SHINOBI-03 wrote: Freeza is Lanipator, right?

The real question that will decide it is, who lives closer to the queen? That's how you decide the most British one, and that one will be the victor.JulieYBM wrote:With LK voicing Freeza the fate of the universe will be decided by British guys.
My money is on the guy voiced by a British guy!!
*Cough*
LittleKuriboh has uploaded his auditions to TeamFourStar. Looks like, akin to Sean Schemmel, he was going after the role of Captain Ginyû: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_s2nbhRLjI4
Also, the panel itself is up at http://www.youtube.com/user/somatosensation
That punchline had me

What? Sean Schemmel was going for Ginyu? He actually would have made a good Ginyu! Certainly better than he was as Goku.JulieYBM wrote:akin to Sean Schemmel, he was going after the role of Captain Ginyû
(That audition video is hilarious. Love the bit with Ginyu the most.)

Can I get a Schemen?
There's a video of it on YouTube. Basically, he thought he nailed Ginyû, but Sabat was like "Nah, you're Gokû" and Schemmel replied "...who the hell is Gokû?"penguintruth wrote:What? God damn it, Chris Sabat. Why must you ruin everything?JulieYBM wrote:There's a video of it on YouTube. Basically, he thought he nailed Ginyû, but Sabat was like "Nah, you're Gokû" and Schemmel replied "...who the hell is Gokû?"
(Not that I dislike Brice Armstrong, a great VA who did get Ginyu, but he wasn't that great in that particular role, and I can sooner picture Schemmel as Ginyu than as Goku.)

Y'know, all in all the special was awesome. But there was ONE thing that the TFS crew did that really stood out to me and made me love it and them all the more.
They used the real names of Bardock's crewmates.
They tend to use dub-naming conventions for a lot of things, since those are the terms most widely known by their audience, and what-not. But I'm glad they made an exception, and skipped over the awful, WTF-drug-induced names that these characters had in the dub.
And I'm still all, "
" about Chris Sabat's little cameo.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
At that point, I think Watson was co-casting too, y'know...penguintruth wrote:God damn it, Chris Sabat. Why must you ruin everything?JulieYBM wrote:There's a video of it on YouTube. ...not that you can blame Sabat. He has to higher a guy who could mimic 'some Canadian' guy.

To be honest, while I should have seen that coming, Mr. Popo startled me almost as much as he did Bardock.
I think Schemmel does Ginyu for a little bit at the beginning here:penguintruth wrote:God damn it, Chris Sabat. Why must you ruin everything?JulieYBM wrote:There's a video of it on YouTube. From what little bit there is, he does seem to do a perfect impersonation of the Ocean Ginyu VA.Big Momma wrote:I think Schemmel does Ginyu for a little bit at the beginning here:

Oh, I see it now. So it wasn't an animator slip-up, but just an odd angle.Maphisto86 wrote:Oh I see what you mean, but no my friend his foot is not actually missing. It does look like his foot is gone but the animators just made his left foot sticking out diagonally as if he where standing, while his right foot is left hanging.Shiyonasan wrote:Did anyone notice at 9:58 that Bardock's left foot is missing?

The panel's available to watch on YouTube?!
Enjoyable watch. X3 It was so behind-the-scenes and really neat to be able to put faces to the voices.
On hiatus.
