What do you plan to do with your season sets?

This is what I'll be doing too. Though it's also because I know the SECOND I sell my season sets I'll have a hankering to watch the Cell Games! lolKunzait_83 wrote:Selling mine off as the Dbox equivalents are released. I don't want to sell all of them off all in one shot right off the bat just in case for whatever reason the FUNiBoxes are cancelled mid-release: cause then I'd have to buy back the rest from wherever the Boxes left off all over again. Which would suck. Gotta always be prepared for the worst case scenario.

Totally different view than me. Other than exposing me to the Japanese version, they have no value. I thought they were worthless when I purchased and I view them as worthless now.Commander_Red wrote:Keep 'em!
They've got sentimental value now since they're the first time I've been able to see the series in one full run.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I totally agree with both of you. When I heard about the Dragon Box announcement I told myself "Knowing Funimation, it's never safe to assume something, I should wait until all of the boxes are released before I do anything with the season sets." I really hope it doesn't amount to that though, after what seemed like a shitty pipe dream miraculously came true, it would be the biggest fuck you to the fanbase to cancel the boxes mid-release.XanatosVanBadass wrote:This is what I'll be doing too. As a collector who has the original Saban censored Dragon Ball (first 13 episodes and first movie) and Dragon Ball Z (including the 3 movies that they produced), as well as having all of the 4:3 singles that were released, having everything that FUNimation ever put out on Dragon Ball (and even Madman with the uncut first 13 episodes of Dragon Ball), the collector in me will not sell my Wide Screen "Remastered" cropped blah blah, meant to be seen, whatever, sets. I'll just keep them on the shelf like everything else because at the end of the day, I did go through a lot of trouble in the past couple of years to buy them and thankfully I can afford the upcoming Dragon Box and all that, so I don't have a problem there. I'm just keeping them. But ask me if they will ever grace a DVD player again (other than to make comparison shots) and I'd say "probably not". What's even sadder is that my 4:3 singles that were released are basically completely useless now as well, even more so than my cropped Remastered way it was meant to be seen omg splurge orange "HD" sets. Oh well. Again, as a crazy collector, I will not be selling anything that I own. It is still a part of my childhood and the Remastered sets did start coming out in a certain good time of my life personally, so I will hold onto them. But man would I love to put up the ENTIRE 4:3 of Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z (whatever came out), Dragon Ball GT, the movies, Remastered sets, and Remastered movies onto like Ebay and see how much people would take them for.

Except for the first three movies (now my second favorite R1 release after the DBox), I kinda wish I still had those just for nostalgia's sake. Thing is, I would actually watch them once in awhile just for kicks. I mean, that's a big part of my beginning as a Dragonball fan.TheGreatness25 wrote:As a collector who has the original Saban censored... Dragon Ball Z (including the 3 movies that they produced)...
I just might re-purchase them just for the heck of it.
Anyone looking to get rid of 'em for cheap before I hit up eBay?

Hey I'm in the same boat. Yes they're censored, yes they're goofy with Goku's brilliant daddy and Vegeta killing Grandpa Gohan somehow, and yeah, the blood is taken out and all, but I honestly do watch them from time to time because every time I pop those DVDs in, I'm just brought back to being in 4th grade, running home so I can record DBZ and watch the same 3 episodes all weekend. Yes, I did that lol I recorded the first 3 episodes and then the weekend came and all I had was those 3 episodes, so I kept rewatching them. I also feel nostalgic with the rest of the FUNimation DBZ. When it was announced that new episodes are coming out, it was like bliss. And Dragon Ball. Wow, that was amazing to finally get to see. I didn't really watch their version of GT or the Ultimate Uncut episodes, but the rest of the series, I really loved as a kid and probably why I like both the Japanese and the dub, despite the dub's flaws.
Why do people STILL have this strange fear this release will get canceled?...
They already paid for the masters. If they don't release all of them, then they lose possible revenue.
FUNi may have made some dumb choices with Dragon Ball from a fan-servicing perspective in the past, but even Mike said on the podcast that, from a moneymaking standpoint, FUNi pretty much always makes the right choice. The Season sets were shitty for us, but genius for FUNi's profits.
They won't cancel the Dragon Boxes unless they really wanted to lose money...

I'm in the same boat as "The Greatness" they have value to me because I collected them over a few years and it's hard for me to sell something I took my time and money to earn.
I too own a bunch of old VHS Tapes, I have all of the Saban era stuff as well. I have multiple copies of the movies, including VHS, and Various DVD versions.
They're all important to me in some way. Maybe if I have kids someday, I'll let them watch the Season sets(cause we all know how little kids like to destroy stuff) and I'll hold onto the dragonbox for myself.

Same here.xzero wrote:Keeping all of mine (and continuing to support the DB Season Set releases). Two primary reasons: (1) I'm a collector and have at least one copy of every DB/Z/GT DVD Funi ever released, and (2) I like the Faulconer dub, and the season sets take up a lot less room than the singles.
No use in selling something you enjoy.
