What do you plan to do with your season sets?

I'm not getting the Dragonboxes.
Why?
I already have the Orange Bricks of Season 1 and 2.
No use in buying those same episodes AGAIN and then waiting AGAIN for more boxes.
I'll just get 3,4 and maybe 5 for Christmas
I could care less about screen height or color quality.

I'm essentially doing the same, except I really want at least the first 2 Dragon Boxes because Seasons One loks really blurry and Two has horrible bleached colors, and they quite literally make my eyes burn.Pitzu wrote:I'm not getting the Dragonboxes.

Well, aren't you quite the rebel?Pitzu wrote:I'm not getting the Dragonboxes... I could care less about screen height or color quality.

While the cropping, the lies, and the half-hearted re-dub did irk me, it was the washed-out colors on Season 2 (which contains some of my favorite episodes) that made me swear off the Orange Bricks. Otherwise I'd probably have the whole series by now.
I'd still buy the Dragon Box, though. Haha!

If it weren't for the fact that many colors skin color matches the whites of their eyes I probably wouldn't have cared so much. The fact that it was that bright, though...Pitzu wrote:Since I started watching the subs, I haven't even gone back to the dub track, so I'm more focused on the subtitles than the picture themselves.
As for washed out color and stuff, I don't really notice it.

Are Seasons 3/4 better when it comes to that stuff?
I mainly want the Orange Bricks so when I get them all, I can put away the sleeves and line them up on a shelf with it having DRAGONBALL Z on the sides.
The Dragonbox just has Goku side art, right?

I have actually considered purchasing them on amazon for that exact same reason.Kendamu wrote:Except for the first three movies (now my second favorite R1 release after the DBox), I kinda wish I still had those just for nostalgia's sake. Thing is, I would actually watch them once in awhile just for kicks. I mean, that's a big part of my beginning as a Dragonball fan.TheGreatness25 wrote:As a collector who has the original Saban censored... Dragon Ball Z (including the 3 movies that they produced)...
I just might re-purchase them just for the heck of it.
Anyone looking to get rid of 'em for cheap before I hit up eBay?

Looking through the gallery for the Dragon Boxes on Kanzentai, it's actually made up of two images. On the inside sleeves for the two Dragon Boxes are separate images of Goku and Gohan. They can take the separate pieces of art and combine them so that Gohan is a few inches higher than on the Dragon Box. I think it's a bit more than just cropping the old spine image in this case, because the art for each character exists.Kendamu wrote: It'll roughly look like this:

Here is my game plan:
When I get Dragonbox 1, I'll watch that, because I'm planning to watch the whole Japanese version of the series. Then I'll either watch the 2nd season set, or wait out for the 2nd Dragonbox set. I have Freeza, Garlic Jr, Trunks, and Android through Cell Games on FULLSCREEN DVD, so I'm not going to have to worry about having to wait for those episodes like the Namek ones.
As for the rest of the series, I'll either buy the old DVD boxsets, or watch the season sets, the latter being what I do NOT feel like doing..... >_<
After I'm done collecting the Dragon Boxes, or I have all the episodes in SOME FORM of Fullscreen, I am packing up the season sets, putting them in my closet, and hopefully sell them to a Funimation fan who wants them.

I have brought up your point in the past, but people just couldn't seem to wrap their heads around it. So, I just made a picture to show that, even if cropped and not repositioned, it'll look kinda like that.

"Impurist?" That's a new one. Really, though, why start that kind of drama? It isn't like not being a purist is some sort of insult. Sure, a lot of us don't like the dub (and many times insult the dub) and some of us prefer the manga outright over any animated version (and many times insult the anime). We don't go around bashing dub fans, though.SSVegetto wrote:Well, if I had them all. I guess I would give them to a non hard core impurist dubbie fan.
We just bash stupid fans that give Dragonball fans a bad name...
I'll definitely sell Seasons 1 and 2, but I'll keep the 3-9 sets even if I get the rest of the Dragon Boxes because I DO NOT want my only option of viewing the show to be with the Japanese score. Talk about boredom.

Alright, then keep your sets. It's not like we're FORCING YOU to like the original score that the rest of the world uses.jjgp1112 wrote:I'll definitely sell Seasons 1 and 2, but I'll keep the 3-9 sets even if I get the rest of the Dragon Boxes because I DO NOT want my only option of viewing the show to be with the Japanese score. See what I did there? Don't worry, I'm just playin'.
Well, he could just customize it so he can put the extra audio on the Dragon box source. I don't know why he would settle for watching his preferred choice on a badly lower cropped quality set. If Funi decides to go that route when 68+ comes out. It maybe possible that Funimation may change their minds. If not, then he may just have to customize it.Kendamu wrote:Alright, then keep your sets. I think it's very unlikely that they'll be adding the dub score almost 70 episodes in. They seem to have this thing about consistency nowadays.SSVegetto wrote:Well, he could just customize it so he can put the extra audio on the Dragon box source. I'm going to keep all of them, so I can compare them with the Dragon Box. This way, I could see how much better the Dragon Boxes are, and how bad the Season Sets were that I thought were good. (I wasn't familiar with the episodes from the first and second seasons at that time, so I didn't know it was so bad
)
