Kai what-if

Post by Kai_fan » Mon Nov 23, 2009 7:08 pm

What if Kai, instead of being an edit of previously-existing footage, had been a complete from-the-ground-up newly produced adaptation of DB?

Would anybody even bother owning or watching the original production anymore for anything other than nostalgia's sake?

We can now look at Kai and, since it's an edit, henpeck about how it's being done, and how we wish this-and-that scene from Z hadn't been edited out, redrawn/reframed scenes, etc., but I wonder for how many of us a new adaptation would have simply replaced the old one and made it irrelevant?

I'm up for anything to replace Z. Can't a brother get volumes 17 through 42 animated without something to detriment it?

Doing so with the first series would be a bit tougher, in my opinion. It's got it's fair share of filler and questionable scenes as well, but it moves at such a faster pace they aren't as glaringly obvious as they are in Z.

What little I've seen of Kai has been pretty impressive on many levels, but it really would be amazing to see the whole (or a good chunk of) the series done like the Kai Op/Ed's...

I don't think I'm as dissatisfied with Kai or Z at this point as I once was though, and if Kai was the last "redo" they ever did, I'd be quite fine with that. Just wish they'd used more of the old music.

For me, a brand new adaptation might have replaced the original show, unless they recast with new actors, in which case it would be real tough to part with.
