I know not everyone's a dub fan here, but I figured some of you might want to know about this anyway:

Poor guy's pretty banged up. I hope his recovery goes well.

Oof. That's awful. As I understand that article, his car ran out of gas while he was driving on the turnpike?

I wish him well and hope he gets well soon.

It's already been posted on the home page of this site.

Best of luck to him and his recovery.

Heard this via Kyle Hebert's Facebook page. Since Chris is also one of my friends on there, I'm leaving my support directly.

I'm not the staff's best writer and haven't the experience I should writing stuff up, but I hope I got the jist of it.

I was initially going to tip the hat to Mike for pointing this out, but I wasn't sure if that was kosher or not. :(

Wait, he thinks he could have been pushed? Do people really hate the dub THAT MUCH?

The line used on the main page, "We may not be fans of FUNimation's dub", sounds like a really douche bag type thing to say while giving support to the family and friends of a guy who is really hurt in real life. It's more or less saying "You suck as Mr. Satan in English, but you were in Dragon Ball so I guess we hope you get better..."

I really like the way he delivers as Mr. Satan and feel that the main page should not express how 'we' feel about the dub and keep on track that we do hope he gets better regardless of what version of the show 'we' like more.

I'm sure that's not how it was intended.

I'd say it was more like: "While we don't personally have much to do with your voice acting work, you are still an important part of a great franchise."

Besides, as far as dub voices go, I reckon he's (ironically) one of the most faithful.

Get well soon, Chris Rager. I'm sure he'll be fine (well, I hope so). He also seems like a legitimately nice guy too.

Not that it matters in a situation like this, but Rager happens to be far and away my favourite dub voice actor ("YELL IF YOU LOVE ME!!").

I also misread the post. Someone knocked him out while he was filling up his car!? That's equally as awful. :( In addition to hoping he gets well soon, I hope they find the guy who attacked him. Do they know if the gas station he used had security cameras? They could've caught the whole thing on tape.

If you had actually paid any attention, you would notice the qualifying statement was there because normally Daizex doesn't cover anything to do with the dub cast. But by all means launch into a self righteous tirade.

I'm pretty sure that at this point Mr. Rager would want people wishing him a speedy and complete recovery, not someone with a stick up their ass defending his performance in a cartoon.

I fully expect we'll know the full range of Mike's sincerity for Rager's health when they discuss it in the podcast.

But I know we all follow the Arabic cast that gets this post and we didn't get an intro that says: We may not be fans or familiar with the Arabic dub of Dragon Ball. Remember it's not about the how we feel about the product as it is the person, but thanks.

06 September 2009

Finally, we are sad to report that the Arabic voice actor for Son Goku, Mr. Zeyad Errafae'ie, passed away on August 26th. He was involved with a car crash and apparently seemed to be getting better, but ultimately did not pull through in the end. Our condolences go out to his family and all of the Arabic dub fans that may have grown up with his performance.

I agree. It just feels like an unnecessary line in a rather nice and thoughtful post about Rager. This isn't about bashing Mike, it's about a line that doesn't really need to be there.

Zeroplus, chill. You seem to be getting worked up a lot over things that aren't worth getting upset over. And when I say that, I'm not saying that this guy getting hurt isn't worth getting upset over, in case you misunderstand me.

The people here aren't as evil as they seem!

Your comparison would be rather elegant if it wasn't for the fact that Chris Ranger is alive.

Honestly do you wake up in the morning and decide "Hello morning sun!, I'm going to spend today looking for ways people can offend me, no matter how minuscule and petty the reason may be".

LOL, no it's OK, I understand. I was just displaying my thoughts on the post. I know people here aren't evil. It's always been the way on DaizEX that if you have an opinion that is different than someone else you get told that you're wrong. I'm OK with it it's fine. It's just the way it reads and how I take it in myself.

I thank you for telling me to relax but it's not a big deal as everyone else is making of my comment. I just feel like I have to defend myself and my own opinion.

I don't really want to repeat myself, I'm not offended. It's just bad wording on Mikes part in my eyes, and my eyes only. It's not a big deal.

So in the end, I hope Chris Ranger gets better regardless of what version of the show he took part in and I would still hope he got better if he didn't work on Dragon Ball at all.

Apparently this happened some time ago... there are well-wishes on his Facebook page back to the 11th! Unless that's some other tragic event.....

EDIT: Oh... the news blurb says the night of the 10th. How the hell did I miss that?

Chris Rager is one of the few voices from the dub I like! I hope he pulls through and gets better.

He has to! He's the champ!
Kentai wrote:Son Gokuu is a fascinating character anyway, because he is - at face value, anyway - an idiot savant. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.
