Thanks for the info Super Sonic, but I was already aware of that though.^^ I just decided to go with Tao Pai-Pai because the scene was shorter and more crazy, since the TV episode shows more characters from Penguin Village and stuff. I thought it would be simpler to site the movie scene, since it has an even more confusing feel to it with just Arale-chan popping up out of nowhere and fading back into oblivion. That feeling of confusion was what I was trying to emphasize with the joke.Super Sonic wrote:That's only in that one movie. In the crossover in the manga nad anime, it's Gen. Blue's ass that she kicks.Jerseymilk wrote:Ya I suppose they could pass it off as, "The whole story of that strange girl who helped Goku fight Tao!"

That is a sin against mankind and should be considered punishable by death.5)One Piece (1)
Yeah Japanese JUMP is plastered with ads and no they don't always distribute covers evenly (count the number of Kochi Kame covers in the past year), however they do a helluva lot better than US JUMP does.
Now don't get me wrong...it makes PERFECT sense that they would put what sells on the cover. But that only makes sense to a point. How long has JUMP been out in the US? And they're still pushing YGO covers? It should be pretty clear that anyone buying JUMP is going to do so regardless of what is on the cover now. They've got their readers and they can plaster ads with the YGO covers from the past. It's time they start giving other series the space they deserve.

Theres wayyyy too many Yugioh covers, theres plenty of DBZ covers, and Shaman King has about the 3rd most of the covers. Still yeah theres a One Piece and yuyu Cover, and 3 Naruto ones.

When you think about it. Naruto, One Piece, and Shaman King have little to no popularity among non-anime fans. The whole DragonBall Z series was shown on Television already so there wouldn't be anything worth advertising. Same for Yu Yu Hakusho...kinda.
YuGiOh, on the other hand, had the Shadow Games arc (A series that wasn't even dubbed) and the Ancient Egypt arc (A series that has yet to be dubbed). This would of course bring in the bucks. People always want to be that guy who goes "Hey didja know in YuGiOh..." and have all of his boys goin "Damn I never knew that."
Remember how the Majin Buu saga was put into DVD/VHS before the CELL GAMES. It was all for making money. YGO does have a lot going for it and I can really understand as to why SJ constantly has it on the cover.
EDIT: Naruto is comming to Toonami?

The argument for putting YGO on the cover because it sells is long past.
If you don't know that YGO is in Jump by now, you are 100% retarded. More so than self-proclaimed 'otaku', dubbies, subbies, freaks, geeks, a blind deaf mute with down's and kleinfelter's syndrome as well as severe halitosis, newbies, l337s and yes, even seven year olds.
Every little bastard buying the magazine knows YGO is in it. Anyone who wants to read YGO knows it is in Jump. By this point playing it up as much as it does is, more than anything, yuppie-larva creative directors and editors being on the same level on 100% retardation of those who don't know YGO is in Jump.
Now it is just sad.

What if you just got out the pen and you walked into your local Walden's Books and you see Atemu on the cover of the new Shonen Jump and the heading Showdown in Ancient Egypt. Cha-ching! for SJ. I am sorry but YGO sells big time man. Sooner or later they will have Shonen Jumps in the libraries of elementary schools. Cha-ching! Kids will beg their parents for subscriptions.
Thats all cake baby.
If you are a sales person then you would realize that children are your best targets. They are innocent and have yet to be jacked and realize it. Adults have the green but wont buy something unless it is really important.
If an adult liked YGO then they would read the 20 something pages in the book and put it back on the shelves to save some bucks rather than buy the whole thing.
Children on the other hand would see YGO on the cover with an additional Super Saiyan here or there then they would buy the whole shabang. Have you ever bought a toy when you were younger then a few months later said "Where the hell did this come from?" and have no regards for it. Children = $$$
Werd.

If it's simply foolish, then why I do I still see YGO covers 90% of the time on SJ ?. Maybe it will change in the future or in the upcoming issues, but I still see quite a large number of YGO covers. Maybe you're right, since people have acknowledged YGO is in SJ, the covers will probably change but it's still undetermined. We'll just have to wait & see.

I think you're missing his point. He's saying it's WRONG for there to be so many YGO covers on Shonen Jump, which is completely true.Sebastian (SB) wrote:If it's simply foolish, then why I do I still see YGO covers 90% of the time on SJ ?. The same goes for Shaman King.SonGokuGT wrote:I don't think so... Don't get me wrong, I agree that it should be... But manga get its publicity mainly from its anime counterpart, and with the craptacular job they've done dubbing it, I really doubt it'll take off.omae no kaasan wrote:God knows it should be One Piece.
But does Shaman King have a worldwide cardgame franchise? I mean face it. YGO has been hot with the toddlers and card players for almost five years. Now that people can find it in a comic book form they will begin to dump the dollars. With the added YGO covers it will be known among fans as the "Yu-Gi-Oh! magazine with some other shit added."
Actually, I think the Yu-Gi-Oh! dub is ten times better than the One Piece and Shaman King dubs combined. I just utterly hate Anna and Sanji's voices. X_xlaserkid wrote:I'd like to mention Yu Gi Oh had a just as craptacular dub and got popular with it.
Yeah it and Shaman King NOW have uncut dubs but those were after popularity not before.
