Creation of dragonballs
How does one create a set of dragonballs? I know that Namekians apparently have this ability, but I'm a little curious as to how exactly they go about it. Is it some kind of magic ritual or what?
Also, if a dragon's power is limited to the power of its creator, how are the dragons so damn powerful in the sense that they grant practically anything? Neither Kami nor Dende have that ability, so how can Shenron?
Could someone please shed some light on the subject for me?

Also, the moral of Dragonball is to rely on your own strength to get things done.Kendamu wrote:Because they actually can do these things. They just don't. The Dragonballs are there to be that one miracle if you can find them. If God wanders around doing all these things for people then people will not learn to rely on their own power.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.
Actually, Kami claims that restoring life is beyond even his power, and that they'd need Shenlong to do it. It seems to me that the power of the creator decides the power of the dragon, but it's not a 1:1 relationship.Kendamu wrote:Because they actually can do these things. They just don't. What we do know about their creation is that you first sculpt the dragon itself out of clay (Mr Popo sculpted Shenlong), then the Namekian 'breathes life' into it. The sculpture is kept in a little glass dome, and when Kami breathed life into it when he was restoring Shenlong to life (after Piccolo had killed him), light sprang from the sculpture and flew off back to the dragon balls, turning them back from stones even though it hadn't been a year. I would guess that the first time you create dragon balls is the same, but maybe you'd need to find 7 stones to serve as the balls themselves.
We also know from Dende that the creator can control where to place the power for the dragon, like filling out stats on a character sheet. You can take points away from the power of the wishes and place it instead into the number of wishes. Dende finds them a nice balance when he takes over as God of Earth.

It's weird that that Shenron can grant IMMORTALITY, but is easily killed by Piccolo Daimao and can't do a thing about Vegeta and Nappa.
Instead of wishing Goku back to life, they should have wished Piccolo immortal, so the Saiyans could never kill him, and they would always have the Dragon Balls.
Also, I wonder if one wish can outdo another. Like, if I wish for immortality, but the next guy wishes I wasn't immortal anymore, would that work?

He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

Give it as much credibility as you wish, but I'm pretty sure Garlic Jr. mentioned that killing Kami-sama in addition to fulfilling his revenge plot would also stop anyone ever removing his immortality.penguintruth wrote:It's weird that that Shenron can grant IMMORTALITY, but is easily killed by Piccolo Daimao and can't do a thing about Vegeta and Nappa.

Yamucha Densetsu - APRIL 8th Update - Goku is Yamucha and Yamucha is Goku

At that point in the series, they'd've wished for Kami to be immortal independent of Piccolo, if anything, seeing as everyone still thought of him as the guy that would vaporize them all as soon as Nappa and Vegeta were out of the way (Never mind the eight years where he didn't. XD)...penguintruth wrote:It's weird that that Shenron can grant IMMORTALITY, but is easily killed by Piccolo Daimao and can't do a thing about Vegeta and Nappa.

Now this wish-canceling has me wondering if one could cancel a Porunga wish with a Shenron wish. Probably, but eh...

I think that the Nameks have hidden magic abilities that can only be accessed via the Dragon Balls, like the ability to give life to someone dead.
Thats why they created them in the first place, because they knew that with them they could access those hidden abilities. If they could just do it at will there was no point in creating the Dragon Balls.
But that doesn`t mean that the Dragon Balls can do anything. There are things that surpass all the powers of the Nameks, even the hidden ones. And beat someone much more powerful than them (at least in ki) is one of them.
