I just find it amusing that Brice's Ginyu is so much better than Dale's and he's only been in the games. Same with Justin Cook's Radditz. [/quote]

Feature 1 is part of the episode and Feature 2 is the rest of the ep. I laughed my ass off when I saw that was the features section; you basically get a full free episode on the DVD.
No, there's actually lots missing from this episode on the Dead Zone disk, they just make it seem like the full episode.

The first clip starts 4 minutes into the episode (6 if you count the opening). It basically just shows Gohan waking up in the morning, and the series of events that lead to him falling in the hole (where the ruins are). The first clip from the Dead Zone disk ends with Gohan sitting against the pillar, which seems like where the commercial break would be, but the scene actually continues...
Gohan sits for another minute, crys for his mother, then you see the day turn to night, then you see Gohan sleeping against the robot, then it's a commercial break. After the break you see Goku sleeping and dreaming of food and it cuts back to Gohan sleeping and a scorpion falls on him. He freaks out and wakes up the robot, but the robot gets pissed and Gohan turns him off again. You then see Goku running along Snake Way...
The second clip on the Dead Zone disk now begins. After the second clip ends, there's 30 seconds of narration before the closing credits role.

Anyways, yeah, this is definately one of my favourite episodes. It really helps to develop Gohan's character during these early moments of the series. Masako Nozawa also once said that this was her favourite episode in an interview! :D

I would make a comment about the lack of European/UK release but I've used it a lot already.

Err..this episode is so emotional. I hope Funimation doesn't ruin it.

It can't be ruined, much, when you watch it in Japanese...

Most definitely, all DB fillers are either extended dialogue, made up characters for like a couple of episodes or flashbacks.

You know, that gives me an idea for a contest.

"The Ultimate Cut Edition!"

Basically, you have to pick an episode of DBZ and try to make a dub script for it, the more horrible the better. The most hilarious script wins.
It's party time, Ginyu style!

I liked the episode where Tenshinhan, Yamcha, Krillin and Chaozu had to fight Saiyans from the past. Was it cut the first time around (I've only seen it in French)?

I can't remember well. Also I didn't have the time to compare my german VHSs with my japanese episodes. Sorry.^^
Mhm, but I think it was uncut. The german version is a 'mishmash' of three (AFAIK) differently "french versions". So, sometimes it's cut and sometimes uncut and "bloody".

I was asking about the American version  .

Er...um...okay. ;D

In this case I can say:

"9. No more foamy glasses of water. Yep, Master Roshi is over 21 and likes his beer, which was re-colored for the original broadcast."
Ugh. The thing I instantly remember is when Mr. Satan wanders into a ruined town, thirsty, and comes across a bar or something. The sign is horribly edited to read "Root Beer" instead of "Beer".

"6. No more Home For Infinite Losers! When Goku dies and falls off Snake Way, he'll be in hell--not the semi-cleverly edited HFIL."
That makes me curious..a little off topic, but in Budokai 3, did they call Hell HFIL? Cause in the same game, they called Android 16's Ultimate Hell Flash. It'd be weird to be able to say it in one case but not another. :?

"5. Launch is back! She was cut out entirely since Dragon Ball hadn't been released and no one would know who she was. Now she's living with Tenshinhan!"
Whoa. I didn't know she was in it at all. She lived with Tenshinhan? I only saw her once, when Goku was gathering energy from everyone to kill Buu.

"1. You can see the original Goku vs. Vegeta fight in all of its bloody glory! Bring a raincoat!"
They censored the hell out of DBZ, but I've been watching DragonBall on TV, and they left a lot of the violence in. Goku VS Piccolo was pretty darn violent. I'm surprised they left all that blood in, it was like a Mortal Kombat level of blood near the end. :P
Although, the dub on TV I was watching wasn't Funimation, but still.

Lunch only appeared a couple of times in DBZ , but yeah, she was, fror all intents and purposes living with Tenshinhan and was shown in a bar depressed after his death. But they didn't COMPLETELY cut her out of DBZ. They kept a quick shot of her in one of Goku's delusions in the Freeza saga.

Edit: Oh, and as for the Hell/HFIL thing, I'm not sure they even mentioned it in the game. THen again, I haven't played in a while.

Leotaku - Sounds like you were watching the Blue Water dub of DB. The Goku/Piccolo fight was quite bloody in that version.

Yes they do make references to hell and yes it is HFIL. It's during the training mode with Freeza and Cell explaining the Fati... whatever it's called.

Oh? I guess I forgot that one. I haven't watched that part of the series for ages now.

Caracal: Yeah, I've been watching the Blue Water dub of DragonBall (and GT as well). It was surprisingly violent. Piccolo ripping his arm off, Goku getting shot through the shoulder (or whatever part you'd consider that), and he's bleeding all over the place. :P

Aha. Thanks for clearing that up. :)

With their censoring of Hell, I preferred how towards the end of DBZ in the edited version they simply referred to it as "Down Below". Creative way of saying Hell without actually using the word "Hell".
