Official "Doomrider" Release + Response Thread

Post by VegettoEX » Tue Mar 01, 2005 11:54 pm

You guys 'n gals are always the best fans/readers/visitors anyone could wish for, so you get the continued "leak" on what's-what.

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=64045

We are distributing this over BitTorrent. It is 160 MB, XviD (DivX-5 compatible), 512x384, 23.976 fps, 192 kbps stereo audio... uhhh... ^^;;... and more!

http://magikarp46.dyndns.org/doomrider_ ... vi.torrent

Special thanks to Kaizoku-Fansubs for the tracker, Rach for hosting the torrent, all of the editors for their great work, and all of you for checking it out... and waiting so damn long~!

(If anyone needs the MPEG-1 file, let me personally know. I have a PIII/850 and the XviD runs perfectly fine, but if you desperately need the MPEG for some reason, just lemme know... preferably on AIM where I can send it :P. It's 182 MB, 352x240.)

I just finished watching it, still hanging around the torrent keeping it alive and whatnot while I can (eventually due toi HD space I'll have to move it to CD to save space but I'll keepo this alive tonight).

First of all let me say this is the DBZ fan's answer to stuff like "DBZ in a nutshell" - because this really WAS DBZ in a nutshell. You all have given a huge service.

Secondly the timing to the beats on this thing is absolutely amazing. The video editing really helped with this and I really liked it (particularly the sped up Ginyu force was great fun).

Also major props on how you ended it - I won't spoil but it was a treat.

I think I just wet myself. I seriously got chills while watching this thing. It flows so well between arcs that you don't even notice how quickly you are going through the series. A job well done!

My favorite part by far was the countdown of Cell Jrs. with the "8?" That was just priceless. Timing is incredible too. I was a little bummed that the whole thing was to Sandstorm, but it was surprisingly not TOO repetitive since the remix at the halfway point really mixed it up (no pun intended).

Anyway, congrats are in order on a job well done to all of the editors.

That was unbelievably well made.
At when it first opened with the Raditz arc I had a few seconds where I doubted the song choice, but that faded away quickly.
The editing is top notch, I had to watch it three times to really see everything.

Well with any music video you do, that was very well done.

Everything moved so fast, If that was done with GT, the song would probley be like 10 seconds. :D

God dammit, I have to wait untill my class finishes to download it. Only 3 more hours to go. The agony!!

EDIT: Oh my god.... I'm speechless...

But you should seriously watch who you show that to. Somebody could die from watching that thing, heh. It was definately worth the wait. It made me remember why I love Dragonball so god damn much. Wow....

Simply amazing. I can definitely understand why Doomrider took two years to make. Great job as always; it was a great way to spend 10 minutes of my life. Just, wow, I'm going to have to watch this again.

It was actually due to numerous people dropping out and the tracks that weren't just good enough. :O

To think they actually took the time to do this, I give the editors props for this. But, the overall project, to me, was just too...boring.

Here's a breakdown of the video:

Cons
1. I hated the song used. I'm not a techno guy. So, automatically, I was put off by the music.

2. It's Dragonball Z . I love the show, but due to the excessive amount of DBZ videos on the internet, I just can't go to appreciate them. They're used up.

3. The flashes that were used to sync up the beats seemed so...generic. A good AMV doesn't use flashes to sync up beats. At least, that's what I prefer.

4. The feel of the project just seemed to dry. There were barely any moments in the video where I felt "Wow! This is moving!"

Pros
Sadly, there is but one pro to the project, and that is the part where Goku is fending of Trunk's sword with one finger. I didn't pay attention to who editted it, but man...that was awesome.

There you have it. That's the best review I could come up with because I didn't feel compelled enough about this video to delve into much deeper thought.

Overall score: 3.5/10

I loved it. It was great. That "8?" bit was hillarious. =P

Well, whatever it was, the wait was definitely worth it.

Contrary to what anyone may think, only a single finished track was rejected, and the basis was far more tech than content (it was done completely wrong from the start, with absolutely no way to fix it for use in the project). Beyond that, any "replacements" were simply people that never edited more than three seconds of video (if any at all), or in one case, submitted a 99% finished beta and then fell off the face of the planet.

Meh.. I expected a whole lot better. And it looked like the editors were trying to use effects when they weren't neccessary. I was just...dissapointed.

First of all, that was really, really good.

Everything that was awesome is obvious... so here's some things I didn't really like.

1.) The whole Goku vs. Cell bit in black-and-white was odd... I think the scratchy effect would have been better suited only for when 16 was in his last blaze of glory and then the video goes out. At some points I began to think the video in this part was used from bad internet fansubs.

2.) The ending was a bit anti-climactic, I would have liked to have seen it extend just a little bit more into Goku vs. Uub, but that would have delayed this release even more.

I'm glad I'm not prone to having seizures, but I honestly felt myself about to go into one while watching the Trunks arc part. And for me, that equals super cool.

I love this video. There are just too many good things to comment on. Also VegettoEX, I'm interested in the MPEG file. I'll talk to you on AIM sometime soon about getting it. I'll be on as Jason1423. Thanks!

Yeah I have to agree the B&W in the Cell Games got old, it was cool for a while but it did feel overused in that section. But still awesome vid. And I'm still hosting it on the torrent - and have uploaded 10 times what I downloaded so I don't feel like a leech now XD

Just a couple things, since everyone's absolutely entitled to their own opinions, and they are respected more than you can possibly imagine:

* If you're expecting a drama video with no effects from a multi-editor project, you need to do some research... there's a reason it's labeled as "ACTION"

* Those with negative opinions seem to be the only ones that are cross-posting those very opinions across at least three forums I've looked at... copy/paste, copy/paste, copy/paste...

Regardless, extreme gratitude simply for checking out the video. It was created by those with a love for the show, and our intent as individual fans was to collectively come together and present something to the rest of fandom that we were proud of. That has been accomplished, and if others happen to like it, that's all the more better. Thanks, again.

I can comment on this, since I made that track. :D The reason I chose not to include any of the scenes with Uub is because the end of DBZ ITSELF is anti-climactic. As a fan, the end of the series infuriates me, so I wanted to pretend it didn't exist. :P I wanted to end with Goku looking happy, and with a shot of the Earth, in all its peaceful saved-by-Goku glory! Ta da!

Yeah, Ex. I was in no way bashing the editors for their styles or anything.

I repsect you guys for taking the time to make this big project.

I did have high expectations for it, though.
