Yeah, everything with Lunch in DBZ has to do with her and Tenshinhan (their relationship, or lack thereof). She makes a brief appearance in episode 11, episode 12 is almost based entirely around her and Tenshinhan, then she makes a brief yet awesome appearance in episode 13. And yeah, the last time you ever really see her do anything is in episode 30 (although she has 2 more small appearances later in the series).
Awww...Ten is protecting his woman, how cute!
Actually, even though almost all the Saiyan Saga training episodes are filler, they really are great episodes. They pretty much give a second introduction to all the characters, and showcase their personalities very well. I'm starting to wonder why most of this stuff was cut to begin with (it's not really offensive or anything...).

Okay. I'm sick of people assuming Tenshinhan has feelings for Lunch. I already explained in an earlier post that she IS NOT LIVING WITH HIM. She's following after him all the time like a stalker. If you watch that episode, you see the way Tenshinhan regards her, which is basically no more than thinking she's a really weird woman, who keeps bothering him. That's it. There's no hidden feelings that he has for her.
That shot is of him doing the right thing and protecting her, from the earthquake and flood that Piccolo's training caused. Remember when Piccolo was lifting up those pyramids and he miscalculated causing an earthquake? That's where that scene takes place. He was floating in the air with Chaozu training when the earthquake started. Lunch comes out of a capsule house she had set up, panicking. She keeps calling to him for help. He sees a huge wall of water heading towards her. What was he supposed to do? Not save her? He was simply saving another life.
As a matter of fact, he barely even acknowledges her in most scenes. And it's only her crazy side that's obsessed with him. Her gentle half doesn't even really know who the hell he is. Sorry if that disappoints some people, but that's the truth.
And that stuff was cut to save time, plus they figured boys wouldn't want to see anything but action and fighting.
Jerseymilk: "Can I tell you something?"
B-kun: "What?"
Jerseymilk: "I see Fangirls."

How did she fall in love with him, anyway?
I remember, after Goku and Tenshinhan fought, she went "I want to come with you! I'm crazy about you!!" or something. Is he really that charming?

Translated from my Spanish manga:
Budokai after Tenshinhan wins and invites the gang out for dinner:
Lunch: "YES! Let's go! I've fallen in love with your brute strength!"

Super Sonic: Yeah, I guess I'd take "Down below" over "HFIL" any day.
I suppose they had reason to cut out Lunch's scenes in DBZ if they didn't show the original DB first, in North America. Though now that I HAVE seen it, I sure would've liked to see her in DBZ. Even if it is a just a few scenes. I saw more of her in Budokai 3 than I did in the cartoon.

I just put that picture up as a joke, so you can take a deep breath and relax now...jeez.
I know that Ten doesn't give a rat's ass about Lunch. That's why I said "their relationship, or lack thereof." Besides, everybody here already knew that he doesn't care for Lunch. After all, it's been well documented that Tenshinhan's heart and soul belong to Chaozu, his wacky Pokemon sidekick!

Yeah, Jers is kinda known for an explosive temper and misinterpreting things. ^^; And I'm with Leotaku. I wouldn't have known who Lunch was, but now I want to see her DBZ appearances.

You know, I believe that they really could have ended up together by the end of DBZ, after everything Tenshinhan had been through. I wish Lunch had been written into more of the story arcs. If Lunch had been more persistent with Tenshinhan, and was more clever, he may have taken a liking to this strange girl. Especially if they had done a Tenshinhan spinoff series or something. That would have been cool.

The only reason Lunch not showing up in later episodes (aside from the one of the Kid Buu episodes) was because at the process of making the DB manga after the Piccolo Jr arc, I believe Toriyama said that he just forgot about Lunch. I think it was mentioned in the early issues of US Shonen Jump.

DBW: I apologize for taking your joke seriously, but yours wasn't the only post I was referring to. And everyone here may not necessarily know that Tenshinhan doesn't have feelings for Lunch, so you shouldn't assume or tell me to "take a deep breath and relax".
And B, it's ironic that you should reply to his post because an earlier post of yours in this thread was one of the ones I was correcting. I believe you said this did you not?:
"Lunch only appeared a couple of times in DBZ , but yeah, she was, fror all intents and purposes living with Tenshinhan and was shown in a bar depressed after his death."
Jerseymilk: "Can I tell you something?"
B-kun: "What?"
Jerseymilk: "I see Fangirls."

I'm interesting in finding out what exactly was cut out of DBZ, and I feel it's a huge shame we won't be seeing these DVDs in the UK (at the time of writting though I doubt it'll change). What else was cut out for no good reason?
Leotaku wrote:Caracal: Yeah, I've been watching the Blue Water dub of DragonBall (and GT as well). It was surprisingly violent. Piccolo ripping his arm off, Goku getting shot through the shoulder (or whatever part you'd consider that), and he's bleeding all over the place.

I know, and I remember seeing quite a bit in GT like when Bebi infected Vegeta and when the robot's probed Goku's mind and saw his fight with the bodyguard (Goku landed an uppercut on the BG's chin).
Super Sonic wrote:With their censoring of Hell, I preferred how towards the end of DBZ in the edited version they simply referred to it as "Down Below". Creative way of saying Hell without actually using the word "Hell".
Mike D wrote:"Heck" has always sounded nice.
Blue Water gave it the best name (IMO) - Hades. I felt it works better than "Down Below", "HFIL" and "Heck", but that's just me.

I suppose episode 1 is a good place to start...

Actually, I don't recall much blood from GT. The only part I recall right now is when Bebi punches through Dr. Myuu(?)'s head. I've been watching that series for the first time through too (still not done, Super 17's story arc just finished).

I'm all for consistency, but this sadly means the Ocean Groups dubbing will be lost forever.
... Maybe later.

How will it be "lost"...? The various tapes and DVDs will still exist.

I remember seeing some though it has been a VERY long time since I last watched it.

Funimation are going to keep selling both versions?

Probably not, but they'll still exist on various websites & such. Like new stock leftover or used.

I hope they make a new edited version for these eps too. If they're gonna make the new version, might as well be the dominant one. By the way, does anyone know where do get the Blue Water/Ocean dub of DB/Z/GT? Do those european dvds with the "M 15+" on them have the Blue Water dub?
