What's up with all these thread locks with no explanation? I'd really like to know why the member awards and dub fan threads got closed.
And, though it would be ironic to lock this thread without answering the question, can we at least get a post from a mod explaining why we are being refused the right to discuss these topics?

Well, as Rocketman shows, they obviously can't be entirely random if at least one person was able to guess possible reasons. Checking the rules can also provide some possible explanations.
But what reason is any thread locked? Because it is going or has a lot of potential to go in a bad direction. Just the fact that they were locked in general should be enough of a hint that the thread was on the wrong track. I don't necessarily speak for the big man or the other mods, but I'd like to think that everyone here is mature enough to figure out their mistakes just from that, without needing to be directly scolded.
But the fact that I'm saying this at all, and this thread in general, kind of defeats the purpose of locking things quietly.
