Saving up for Z BOX Vol. 2 and have a question!

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Saving up for Z BOX Vol. 2 and have a question!

Post by Blastero » Thu Mar 03, 2005 7:14 pm

I am trying to save up for the DBZBOX vol. 2 and have a question. I'm not sure exactly how much hell I will have to go through to actually find one, but I was woundering a few things.

1. How much do they generally go for? I've seen $1000 on some sites, $800 on others, and $500 on the rest. Which is the correct price?

2. I was planning on selling some of my Funi DVDs to help, and wanted to know which episodes exactly are on VOL. 2, because I don't want to sell any of them (with some exceptions) if they don't appear on vol. 2.

I think I heard that DBox Z 2 = FUNi "Perfect Cell" - "Kid Buu" DVDs. Might want to check with DBW or MajinVegetaXV, they'll know for sure!

1) The MSRP was ¥100,000, which, according to the current exchange rate, is about $949.62. However, it's out of print now, so you'll probably only be able to find it second-hand, and that could cost anything.

2) The second DBZ Dragon Box has episodes 148-291, IIRC. Imperfect Cell - 17's End starts out with Japanese episode 149, so that and all following volumes would be where you might want to start selling them off.

What the hell? What type of price is that? I've seen prices for high definition televisions that were cheaper. The most I have ever seen or heard of (up until now of course) for DVD sets was $100, 200 at the least.

How precious could the Dragon Boxes be anyway? Are they really worth nearly $1,000? Cause if they are then I'm all over them.

Well, I personally don't think its worth anywhere near 1,000$ but thats what the price is in Japan. It would make sence to transfer that amount when selling it on Ebay in America to either make a profit or break even.

I saw DB and DBZ vol 1 on yahoo japan for 69,000 yen. Thank god they're not selling it for the full value. I'm not sure how much 69,000 is in $$$, but it I would guess around $700. And I did some math, and if you calculate the retail value at most stores for the Funi dvds, with 3 eps per dvd, it would be around the same amount to buy 1/2 of every Funi dvd. The Majin Buu set which has what, 20 something episodes goes for 100 smackers at the Sam Goody nearest me. Plus the DragonBoxes have a lot of extra goodies with them too. I guess it just seems ridiculous to buy all of those for that much money at one time.

Yes, but doesn't Funi sell DVD box sets that are worth around $200?

Nope, the most expensive one retails for $100, anf some places carry it for around $75. Their DVD and box set prices have gone down quite a bit.

I think I saw VOL. 1 and 2 on amazon used for 153,000 yen, when the actual price for the boxes new were about 53,000 yen less than that. Is there something I'm missing about yen, or are they selling it used, for more than it is to get it new.

The thing you're missing is that the Dragon Boxes were limited edition/pre-order only items. They're no longer made, so if you find them today...yeah, chances are they'll be more costly than they were new. I still think they're worth what I paid, but I am a perfectionist.

If you just want DB/Z/GT on DVD, and don't care about quality or how complete the episodes are...or hell, if you don't know Japanese and don't want to learn it...get FUNi's DVDs.

...but get them on Ebay for cheap ;p

I don't really like the idea of giving Funi my money. I' d rather get the dragonboxes. They have a bunch of extras and the previews, and basically better than the Funi disks, but I guess thats my opinion.
(I'm not sure if this goes too off topic or not, but I'm holding a big Yugioh card auction for this purpose, so if anyone's interested, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... RK:MESE:IT)

What do you mean by saying "how complete the episodes are" On the FunI dvd's????? As far as I know there was no cutting of any kind on the FunI dvd's!!!! In all honesty I was really interested in the D-Box but the fact that the sets have no english subtitle's & that they are Region 2 dvd's really turned off the almost $1300+ purchase (DAMB THE EXCHANGE RATE CDN MONEY SUCK'S)!!!!

You were warned three times. Another post even remotely like this, and you can kiss your account goodbye.

Once again somebody took the words right out of my mouth. By the way, think about that the next time you decide to by another DragonBall Z game. Not trying to start anything but had not been for Funimation you probably wouldn't have even heard of DragonBall. Just stating the facts man...

It's always cute when they know they've stepped over the line, and as one last attempt, throw out some insult.

I don't care what you think of me, I don't care who you are or what you do elsewhere, and I definitely can't give any less of a shit how you compare my site to another site.

Thank you, goodbye.

When saying "boards" plural, you don't need an apostrophe.
